Chapter 80: In What Capacity?

Song Ge also froze. She glanced at Zhai Cheng and realized how ambiguous their situation was at the moment. She immediately distanced herself a bit and explained, "It's not what you think. He..."

The junior assistant came to his senses and flattered, "No need to explain. You two go on. I didn't see anything." Then he kindly closed the door and left, heaving a sigh of relief.

Did he just interrupt the boss's good deed?

"Does he have the wrong idea? I should go and explain," Song Ge said, lowering her head, feeling a bit embarrassed.

Zhai Cheng put on his clothes and slowly buttoned up his shirt. He had always been interrupted like this recently. It seemed that in the future, he should ban these people from entering. "It's okay."

Song Ge returned to her seat, patted her blushing face, and got back to work. However, they didn't know that outside, it was like a bomb had gone off.

After the junior assistant went out, he was so excited that he couldn't wait to share this news with others.

"Hey, hey, do you know what I saw when I went in just now?" he said mysteriously.

The others were successfully intrigued and asked curiously, "What did you see?"

The junior assistant started to play hard to get, as if he had obtained some great secret. "You'll never guess."

Some people started to make guesses, but none of them were close.

The junior assistant interrupted them. "The boss and Song Ge were..." His eyes became ambiguous.

He didn't finish the rest of the sentence, and everyone understood.

In an instant, everyone was in an uproar. They didn't expect Song Ge to be such a dark horse. She actually managed to win over their president.

"Do we have to call Song Ge the president's wife from now on?" someone joked.

"It's quite possible. So everyone, don't bother them," the junior assistant said. Just as he finished speaking, Jiang Xue, the personnel department manager, happened to pass by and vaguely heard something.

"What did you just say?" she asked with a fierce look in her eyes.

"The boss and Song Ge were getting intimate," the junior assistant said. After all, he was Zhai Cheng's subordinate, so the people in the office would respect him a bit, including this difficult Jiang Xue.

Jiang Xue's face turned pale. She couldn't believe what she had heard. How could Song Ge stand beside Zhai Cheng? The person beside him should be someone as outstanding as herself. She was just a pretty face!

Jiang Xue didn't believe it and wanted to see for herself. She casually picked up a document and walked to the president's office, knocking on the door.

"Come in," a deep voice came from inside.

Jiang Xue turned to look at the people behind her who were watching the show, then walked into the office haughtily.

Zhai Cheng was looking at documents, and Song Ge was sitting at her own desk. There was no sign of the intimacy the junior assistant had mentioned.

A sneer and disdain appeared on Jiang Xue's lips. She knew it. How could Zhai Cheng take a fancy to a woman like Song Ge, who had an ordinary family background and mediocre work ability? It was really a joke.

She swayed over, deliberately unbuttoning two buttons on her shirt to reveal her cleavage.

She placed the document in front of Zhai Cheng, flipped her hair, and said sweetly, "President." Then she walked around to Zhai Cheng's side and pointed at some parts of the document. "I don't quite understand these parts."

Zhai Cheng smelled a strong perfume smell and subconsciously moved his chair. He looked up with a look of disgust. "If you don't understand, find the relevant person in charge."

Jiang Xue was rebuffed and her face looked a bit ugly.

"Do you have anything else?"

Jiang Xue shook her head. She wanted to say something but finally said nothing. Reluctantly, she picked up the document and was about to leave.

"Wait," Zhai Cheng suddenly said, placing his slender finger on his chin.

Jiang Xue turned back in surprise. She knew it. "President, do you have any other instructions?"

Zhai Cheng pointed at her clothes and said indifferently, without a hint of desire. "Pay attention to your image. Your clothes are in a mess."

Jiang Xue's face instantly turned pale. She lowered her head to look at her clothes and had to button them up. Then she stomped out in her high heels, not forgetting to glare at Song Ge.

Song Ge was completely confused. She didn't know what she had done to offend Jiang Xue. She shook her head and ignored this irrelevant person, then continued to work.

Time passed by second by second.

Zhai Cheng put down the document in his hand. His slender fingers tapped rhythmically on the table. He looked at the busy woman not far away, and his expression softened. Seeing that she seemed to be frowning, he got up and walked over.

He propped one hand on the chair, as if he was holding Song Ge in his arms. "Do you have any questions?"

Because she was too focused, Song Ge was startled when she heard the voice. She leaned back and bumped into Zhai Cheng's hand. Then she sat up awkwardly and pointed at some technical terms in the document. "I don't understand these."

Zhai Cheng patiently explained each term one by one. Song Ge looked at his side profile and couldn't hear anything else. All she saw was his stunningly handsome face.

After Zhai Cheng finished speaking, he saw Song Ge staring blankly at him and smiled. "Do you understand?"

Song Ge woke up from her daze. She hadn't heard anything, but she thought nodding would be the right thing to do. So she nodded like a chick pecking at rice.

Just as Zhai Cheng was about to tease her, Song Ge's phone on the table interrupted him.

Song Ge embarrassedly picked up the phone. It was Wu Yilan. She answered it.

"I'm at work," she said in a low voice as much as possible, after all, the boss was still there.

"It's my birthday today. I'm having a party. You must come. You're my best friend," Wu Yilan said.

Song Ge opened the calendar. She had been so busy recently that she had forgotten her best friend's birthday.

"I'm sorry. I've been so busy that I forgot your birthday. Don't be mad at me, okay?"

A hearty laugh came from the phone. "It's okay. I forgive you. But if you don't come tonight, we'll break off our friendship. You can also bring your boss."

Song Ge thought Wu Yilan must be crazy. "That's impossible. I'm not joking with you. I have to work." Song Ge hung up the phone and started thinking about what gift to buy for Wu Yilan. Suddenly, she realized that Zhai Cheng was still standing beside her.

Zhai Cheng crossed his arms, his suit pants hugging his long legs. "Where are you going?" Because of what had happened before, he had always been a bit worried. Although the other party had been quiet recently, who could say for sure?

"My best friend is having a birthday party today," Song Ge said honestly.

Zhai Cheng nodded. His next words made Song Ge doubt her ears.

"What did you say?" Song Ge asked uncertainly, as if she had misheard.

"I'll go with you," Zhai Cheng said again seriously, which made Song Ge sure that he wasn't joking.

Song Ge refused without thinking. "No need." After all, they were all her good friends. It would be awkward for Zhai Cheng to go. Moreover, in what capacity would he go? How should she introduce him? As her boss? Or something else?
