No matter what Meng Yajing said, Zhai Qintian always wore an indifferent expression and remained silent.
Seeing Zhai Qintian's attitude, Meng Yajing pursed her lips. "Zhai Qintian, it's not Zhai Cheng's fault. Please let him go. If you have any grievances, come at me."
It was all her fault. Zhai Cheng shouldn't bear all this.
Song Ge stood aside, her heart aching as she listened.
Zhai Cheng sat on the bed, pale - faced and silent. However, a flicker of emotion flashed across his eyes, quickly disappearing.
But Song Ge noticed it.
Just as she thought, Zhai Qintian wasn't completely indifferent to Zhai Cheng. He just couldn't bring himself to show it.
Seeing that Zhai Qintian wouldn't listen to anything she said, Meng Yajing gave up trying to persuade him. "You have a good rest. I'm leaving."
She opened the door and walked out, with a hint of determination. If Zhai Qintian wanted to harm Zhai Cheng, she would fight to protect him.
After Meng Yajing left, only Song Ge and Zhai Qintian were left in the ward. Neither of them said a word.
Zhai Qintian didn't look at Song Ge. He just stared out of the window and said bluntly, "You can go."
Out of the corner of her eye, Song Ge saw a shadow flickering at the door. Her eyes widened in surprise, then quickly returned to calm.
The man seemed to realize that Song Ge had seen him and quickly left.
Song Ge paused for a moment, took a deep breath, and said, "Let me push you out to soak up some sun."
Zhai Qintian seemed quite surprised that Song Ge would say such a thing. He suddenly turned his head and stared at her in shock.
"Let me push you out to soak up some sun," Song Ge repeated to make sure he heard her right.
After coming to his senses, Zhai Qintian refused without hesitation, "I'm not going."
As if she didn't hear him, Song Ge opened the door and walked out.
The room fell silent.
Zhai Qintian thought Song Ge had given up. Without much thought, he shifted his body and was about to lie down.
Suddenly, the door was pushed open. Song Ge appeared at the door, pushing a wheelchair with a smile on her face, a smile that was hard to resist.
Zhai Qintian frowned and roared, "I said I'm not going."
Song Ge parked the wheelchair and bowed slightly to Zhai Qintian. Then she reached out to help him up from the bed.
Zhai Qintian stiffened, and his face grew even uglier. "Can't you understand human language? I said I'm not going."
He reached out and pushed Song Ge forcefully.
Song Ge seemed to be on guard, so she didn't fall. She looked mysterious. "I guarantee you'll regret it if you don't go out."
Zhai Qintian squinted at her. After a while, he said, "If you dare to lie to me, you're dead."
Song Ge knew that his words meant he allowed her to help him out. She smiled and said, "Definitely not."
Song Ge helped Zhai Qintian into the wheelchair and pushed him out.
When they reached the hospital garden, Song Ge stopped.
Zhai Qintian found nothing special and got a bit angry. "What exactly do you want me to see?"
"Don't be impatient," Song Ge advised.
The lazy sun lingered on people, reluctant to leave.
Zhai Qintian, perhaps having been away from the sun for too long, gradually began to enjoy it.
From the moment he learned that his life was coming to an end, he couldn't quite describe his feelings. He just felt unwilling, and maybe there was also a bit of regret?
Out of the corner of her eye, Song Ge saw Zhai Qintian enjoying the sun. She smiled. He wasn't as cold - hearted as he seemed. It was all a disguise.
A kid was playing football not far away. Maybe he kicked too hard, and the ball flew straight towards Zhai Qintian.
Zhai Qintian instinctively reached out and swatted the ball away.
The kid ran over, looking apologetic. "Sorry, grandpa."
Song Ge thought Zhai Qintian would get angry, but instead, she heard a gentle voice. He even reached out and ruffled the kid's hair. "It's okay."
Realizing what he had done, Zhai Qintian quickly withdrew his hand.
Song Ge pursed her lips. He was so lenient towards other kids but so strict with Zhai Cheng.
"I hope grandpa gets well soon," the kid said, then ran away with the ball in his arms.
Zhai Qintian watched the kid run away. The figure gradually overlapped with the one in his memory, and his eyes slowly welled up.
Since childhood, Zhai Cheng had been very attached to him, but he had always treated him coldly. When had he ever been so gentle with Zhai Cheng?
Realizing his gaffe, Zhai Qintian quickly wiped away his tears and pretended nothing had happened.
Song Ge naturally saw all this but chose to say nothing.
The two basked in the sun for a while, and their bodies felt warm.
Song Ge caught sight of a familiar figure not far away. The corners of her mouth curled up. Then she pushed Zhai Qintian back towards the ward.
Just as they entered, Zhai Qintian remembered what Song Ge had said earlier. "What exactly do you want me to know?"
"You'll know soon," Song Ge said as she pushed Zhai Qintian to follow the figure in front.
The man turned into a doctor's office at the corner.
Song Ge pushed Zhai Qintian and stopped in front of the office.
Zhai Qintian got a bit angry. He didn't know what Song Ge was up to. "I'm not the kind of person who eavesdrops."
But just as he finished speaking, he heard a familiar voice that made his body tremble.
"Doctor, how is my father's condition now?"
It was Zhai Cheng's voice.
"The sooner the patient has the surgery, the better," said another voice, obviously the doctor's.
Zhai Qintian's face looked a bit ugly and awkward. Zhai Cheng already knew he wasn't his real father, yet he still cared so much?
For a while, there was silence in the room.
Suddenly, Zhai Cheng's voice rang out. "I'm willing to donate my organ to my father." His tone was firm.
The man clutched the edge of the wheelchair, his fingers turning white. His face showed surprise. He had never thought Zhai Cheng would do this. After all, he had always been strict with him, and Zhai Cheng clearly knew he wasn't his real father.
"That's certainly possible. You can have a check - up first to determine if the transplant is feasible."
"Okay."
Song Ge quickly pushed Zhai Qintian away and back to the ward.
When Zhai Qintian returned to the ward from outside, his expression remained unchanged. He frowned.
Song Ge said nothing either. She just sat quietly in the ward.
Zhai Qintian heard the sound of footsteps. Coupled with what had just happened, he quickly lay down, covered himself with the quilt, and pretended to be asleep.
Song Ge stifled a laugh. These two clearly cared about each other, but neither was willing to admit it.
Zhai Cheng pushed the door open. Seeing Zhai Qintian sleeping, he instinctively lightened his steps and walked to the bedside in silence.
