Chapter 113: She Finally Spoke

"Miss Song, where are you going?" The young assistant stared blankly at the empty study.

He hadn't said anything out of line, had he? Why did Song Ge suddenly rush off for no apparent reason?

Without time to dwell on it, the young assistant took off running after Song Ge.

"Miss Song, you should stay at home and recuperate. Mr. Zhai can handle everything at the company." The young assistant seemed to figure something out and gasped out an attempt to soothe her.

Song Ge shook her head and quickly got into the car, urging the young assistant to drive quickly.

The young assistant stared at her in disbelief. At her urging, his mind went blank for a moment. He just stared blankly before climbing into the driver's seat and starting the car.

"Miss Song, don't be too nervous. Mr. Zhai will surely be fine," the young assistant said with a good - natured smile after he came to his senses.

He had been following Zhai Cheng for so long that he was used to this kind of thing. It wasn't as serious as Song Ge thought.

Song Ge stubbornly shook her head. "No. I always feel that Leng Jing has ill intentions. She will definitely do something bad to Zhai Cheng."

As she spoke, the memory of the day when Leng Jing blocked her and wouldn't let her leave resurfaced in her mind. Just from what Leng Jing said, it was obvious that she harbored a deep hatred for them.

This time the young assistant fell silent. He didn't say anything more, but his foot unconsciously pressed harder on the accelerator.

The two of them rushed to the company in a hurry. Song Ge strode towards Zhai Cheng's office.

"Miss Song, please stop." A shrill female voice suddenly came from behind. Song Ge's hand on the door froze in mid - air.

"Mr. Zhai has given orders that no one is allowed to enter. So please don't make things difficult for us," the secretary rushed over and quietly blocked the door.

Zhai Cheng didn't want to see her? Song Ge stared at the office door in shock, not knowing how to react.

"I have something very important to tell him. Please let me in," Song Ge softened her voice and pleaded.

The secretary still shook her head and insisted on not letting her in. "Miss Song knows Mr. Zhai's temper. So please don't make things difficult for me."

Song Ge was well aware of Zhai Cheng's temper, but she couldn't quite believe that he was avoiding her now.

"Miss Song, why aren't you going in?" The young assistant, who had just parked the car, rushed over and asked in confusion when he saw Song Ge at the door.

Song Ge shook her head.

"Mr. Zhai has ordered that he won't see anyone," the secretary said with a helpless shake of her head, briefly explaining the situation.

"Sorry. Since he is busy, I'll go back first," Song Ge finally decided to leave after thinking for a long time.

He must have his reasons for avoiding her. He probably didn't want her to be too tired.

Song Ge turned around and left. Her mind was filled with the fact that Zhai Cheng didn't want to see her, and her mood sank to the bottom.

She walked out of the company gate in a daze. There was a sharp pain in her heart, making her feel extremely uncomfortable.

Suddenly, her phone rang, interrupting her train of thought.

"Mom," Song Ge answered the phone and mumbled.

Hearing this, Song's mother frowned. "What's wrong with you, child? You sound so listless. Has something happened?"

"No. I'm just a bit tired," Song Ge smoothly changed the subject. "Mom, why did you call?"

Song's mother's sigh came through the phone. "Your father - in - law passed away. I heard that your mother - in - law is in a bad state. I was thinking of going to visit her."

She had learned about these things from the TV and knew that Meng Yajing must be heart - broken.

Song Ge was stunned and felt quite sad. "Auntie is not in a good condition now. Mom, don't come for the time being. I'll call you when she gets better."

Thinking of Meng Yajing, she couldn't help but sigh. Uncle Zhai Qintian's death had really hit her hard.

Song's mother flatly refused and disagreed. "How can that be? That's exactly why I want to go and see her. What's the use of going after she gets better?"

Song Ge fell silent. She couldn't think of a way to refute her mother.

"That's settled then. I'll go and visit your mother - in - law tomorrow." Song's mother didn't give Song Ge a chance to speak and hung up the phone decisively after announcing this.

Looking at the black - screened phone, Song Ge sighed wearily. She suddenly felt inexplicably exhausted.

There had been too many things happening recently, more than she could handle.

Putting aside her thoughts about Zhai Cheng, Song Ge returned to the villa absent - mindedly.

When she got back to the villa, Aunt Chen was helping Meng Yajing enjoy the sun in the yard.

"Auntie, the weather is nice today. How about I take you for a walk?" Song Ge gathered up her tiredness and walked over to Meng Yajing with a smile, asking for her opinion.

Meng Yajing shook her head and stared blankly at the newly sprouted buds in front of her, remaining silent.

Since Zhai Qintian's passing, she had become extremely quiet. Even though Song Ge came to chat with her from time to time, she couldn't arouse her interest.

"Auntie, you can't go on like this. Your body won't be able to take it," Song Ge said, holding her hand lovingly and trying to persuade her.

But the other woman remained unmoved.

Aunt Chen saw this and, although worried, shook her head at Song Ge, signaling her not to force Meng Yajing.

"Auntie, my mom might come to see you tomorrow. Are you happy?" Song Ge pretended to be calm and chatted with her, as if she was completely normal.

Seeing that Meng Yajing still didn't respond, Song Ge's frown deepened.

After staying with her quietly for a while, Song Ge's phone rang. Only then did she reluctantly turn around and leave.

Early the next morning, Song Ge woke up rather late. Remembering that her mother was coming today, she jumped out of bed in a hurry.

"Aunt Chen, has my mom come?" Song Ge asked as she rushed downstairs after quickly washing up.

Aunt Chen ran out of the kitchen, smiling. "Yes, she has. Miss Song's mother has been here for a while. She's chatting with the mistress now."

Why was Aunt Chen so happy today? Song Ge was a bit puzzled but didn't ask further. She rushed towards Meng Yajing's room.

Before she even pushed the door open, she heard the soft chatting inside.

She had heard one of the voices for twenty - odd years, so she couldn't be wrong. The other voice, though, seemed like it had been ages since she last heard it.

She couldn't wait to push the door open. When Song Ge saw the scene in front of her, she was momentarily stunned.

Meng Yajing was chatting with Song's mother. Although her face still looked a bit pale, she was truly talking.

"You child, why did you sleep until now?" Song's mother saw Song Ge and scolded her gently.

Before Song Ge could defend herself, she heard Meng Yajing come to her defense. "Song Ge has been very tired these days. It's important for her to get a good rest."

After saying that, she gave Song Ge a loving look.
