Although full of doubts, Song Ge didn't intend to bother with this matter. She had encountered countless troubles these days, so it was better to avoid them.
"I'm so sleepy..."
Yawning, Song Ge pressed the elevator button and headed straight for the floor where the boss was located.
"Boss." She knocked gently on the door a few times, but there was no response from inside. Song Ge pushed the door open curiously and found that the boss wasn't in the office.
Dragging her exhausted body back to her workstation, Song Ge was just about to take a lazy break when a voice startled her.
"Miss Song!"
Song Ge immediately perked up: "Manager, what's up?"
Phew, luckily she hadn't been caught.
Song Ge let out a silent sigh of relief. The person in front of her was the personnel manager, who was notoriously strict. If he caught someone slacking off during working hours, the consequences would be dire.
"A guest has come to the company and is discussing things in the reception room. Go and bring a cup of coffee over." After giving his instructions, the manager left.
"Sigh..." Although reluctant, Song Ge still dragged her tired body to get a cup of coffee. Yawning, she made her way to the reception room.
"Come in." The voice sounded familiar, but Song Ge couldn't quite recall who it was for a moment.
Pushing the door open and seeing the person inside, Song Ge couldn't help but be startled. Her hand holding the coffee almost slipped and spilled the coffee, but luckily she reacted in time.
Xu Qin was also a bit surprised to see who it was. He playfully hooked the corner of his mouth.
What a small world. He actually ran into this woman here again.
"Miss Song seems quite surprised to see me. Am I that scary?"
Song Ge really wanted to turn around and leave, but seeing her manager beside them, she didn't dare to be too presumptuous. She forced a smile and replied, "How could that be? I'm just surprised to see you here, Mr. Xu."
The manager was a bit stunned upon hearing their conversation: "So, you two know each other?"
Song Ge shook her head and was about to deny it when Xu Qin preempted her and said, "Miss Song and I are more than just acquaintances."
Song Ge frowned unhappily and stared at Xu Qin quietly, not understanding what he was up to.
The manager looked back and forth between them. Intuitively, he felt there was something off between them, but he didn't say anything.
He couldn't be bothered with these things. His most important task now was to negotiate this cooperation with Xu Qin successfully.
Song Ge ignored him. After putting down the coffee, she was about to leave when Xu Qin quickly called her back: "Why are you in such a hurry to leave, Miss Song? Don't worry. I'm just here to discuss cooperation today. You don't need to worry that I'll do anything to you. The previous incident was a misunderstanding. I hope we can clear it up."
Song Ge sneered inwardly. A misunderstanding?
Xu Qin continued, "I know Miss Song has some misunderstandings about me, so I'm going to help Miss Song expose those behind the scenes. I believe this matter will soon come to light."
Song Ge was annoyed by his words and sarcastically retorted, "Oh, really? Is Mr. Xu being so kind?"
She'd be grateful if he didn't play tricks on her behind her back.
"Miss Song will know soon enough." Xu Qin showed a meaningful smile, leaned back on the sofa, picked up the coffee, and took a sip.
Song Ge let out a soft laugh but didn't answer his words. Instead, she rolled her eyes in her heart.
She wouldn't believe a single word Xu Qin said!
The atmosphere became more and more oppressive. Unable to bear it any longer, the manager spoke up to break the deadlock between them: "Alright, since you two know each other, sit down together."
"Yes, manager." Although Song Ge was reluctant, since her manager had said so, she had no choice but to comply. She found a seat farther away from Xu Qin and sat down.
The boss hadn't arrived yet, so the manager first discussed some matters that needed attention regarding the cooperation with Xu Qin.
Although Xu Qin was talking to the manager, his eyes kept darting towards Song Ge from time to time.
Song Ge tightly clenched her hands under her sleeves. She didn't understand what he meant, but since there were other people present, she didn't dare to explode. She could only sit quietly on the sofa, lowering her head to minimize her presence.
"Sorry to have kept you waiting, Mr. Xu." A male voice sounded from outside the door.
Hearing this voice, Song Ge finally let out a sigh of relief. Finally, someone had come. If he hadn't come, she would have been suffocated.
It really wasn't a pleasant experience to be with Xu Qin.
"Not at all. I've already communicated all the necessary details with your manager. Now let's just discuss the cooperation directly."
Only then did Xu Qin shift his gaze from Song Ge. His purpose for coming here today wasn't Song Ge. Business came first.
"Miss Song, go to my office and wait for me first." The boss knew about the matter between Song Ge and Xu Qin and that she must be feeling uncomfortable here. So he asked her to leave temporarily.
"Mr. Xu is really straightforward. I've read the contract, and there are no problems. Let's sign it now. May our cooperation be a pleasant one."
The boss trusted the manager's ability. Since the manager had already handled everything, there was no need for him to discuss further. He could just sign the contract.
Having achieved his goal for the day, Xu Qin happily left the company with the contract.
Song Ge paced back and forth in the boss's office. There was always a question lingering in her mind that she couldn't figure out.
Through the window, she saw Xu Qin's departing figure and realized that he had successfully negotiated the cooperation. She was even more confused.
After waiting for a long time and still not seeing the boss come back, Song Ge couldn't sit still anymore. She planned to go to the reception room to take a look.
Just as she pulled the door open, she almost bumped into a wall of flesh.
After realizing what had happened, Song Ge quickly took a step back: "Boss."
The boss nodded, stepped in, sat on the sofa, and looked at Song Ge.
He knew that Song Ge must have some questions to ask him. Otherwise, according to her usual personality, if he hadn't come back for so long, she would have left long ago. How could she have waited so obediently for him to return?
"What do you want to ask me?"
Song Ge wasn't surprised that the boss could guess her thoughts. She directly asked her question.
"Boss, does our company have any connection with Qu Cheng?"
The boss had an expression of "I knew you'd ask this." He twirled his pen with his finger but didn't answer Song Ge's question directly.
After waiting for a long time without getting an answer, Song Ge continued, "Boss?"
Even if there was no connection, at least give her a response. Why did he stop talking?
Song Ge, who was already in a bad mood because of Xu Qin's words, became even more irritated. She didn't understand what her boss's silence meant.
