Chapter 229: Die with Her

In her hurry, Song Ge forgot to close the bathroom door after running in. She slumped over the sink and released her hand. Her palm was covered in blood, which dripped drop by drop into the sink, a shocking sight.

Looking at the blood on her hand, she felt a twinge of panic. She quickly grabbed the tissues beside her and frantically wiped it off. She only stopped when her nose was rubbed red.

She then crouched down, hugging herself tightly and suppressing the sobs, for fear that Zhai Cheng might hear.

Zhai Cheng stood at the door, watching Song Ge's back. He slowly tightened his fists. How he wished to step forward, hug her, and tell her that he would always be with her. But he knew he couldn't.

After Song Ge had been crouching on the floor for about twenty minutes, she wiped away her tears and stood up. Due to anemia, her head suddenly felt dizzy.

Zhai Cheng behind her almost reached out to support her.

Thankfully, Song Ge grabbed the nearby object and steadied herself.

Zhai Cheng immediately hid behind the wall, then tiptoed back to the bed, covered himself with the quilt, and pretended to be in a deep sleep.

Song Ge felt the bed sink a bit beside her, and then smelled the familiar scent.

She covered herself with the quilt and looked at Zhai Cheng beside her. Her nose twitched, and tears almost welled up again.

Zhai Cheng pretended to stir and pulled Song Ge into his arms. Tears quietly slid down the corners of his eyes.

Song Ge asked in a low voice, "If I'm no longer here, you must live a good life."

Zhai Cheng's body stiffened. He hugged Song Ge tighter and mumbled drowsily, "We'll always be together."

Song Ge felt bitter in her heart. She nodded and said, "We'll always be together." Then she hugged Zhai Cheng a bit tighter.

In the darkness, both of them had their own thoughts.

The next day, when Song Ge woke up, Zhai Cheng was no longer by her side. Wondering where he could have gone, she changed her clothes and went downstairs to look for him.

If it had been a few days ago, Song Ge would always see Zhai Cheng bustling in the kitchen when she went downstairs. But today was an exception. Zhai Cheng wasn't in the kitchen.

Where could he be?

Filled with doubts, Song Ge pushed open the door to the back garden. Suddenly, she saw a heart shape made of roses, along with many pink balloons. There was also a table with red wine and fresh flowers on it.

Zhai Cheng was standing beside it, smiling at her and waiting for her to approach.

Song Ge excitedly ran up to Zhai Cheng.

"Welcome, my princess," Zhai Cheng bowed, looking quite the part.

Zhai Cheng pulled out a chair for Song Ge to sit down and then poured the wine.

Soft music suddenly filled the air, calming their hearts.

After they had eaten, Zhai Cheng walked up to Song Ge, held out his hand, and said, "My beautiful princess, may I have this dance?"

Song Ge was amused by his appearance but then felt embarrassed. "I don't know how," she said.

"I'll teach you," Zhai Cheng said as he pulled Song Ge up. The vast lawn became their stage.

At first, Song Ge kept stepping on Zhai Cheng's feet, but later she gradually got the hang of it. She had never thought that dancing could be such a happy thing.

When they were tired from dancing, they simply lay on the ground, feeling the sunlight pour freely on their bodies.

Song Ge lay on Zhai Cheng's body, closing her eyes slightly. "I really hope time could stop at this moment forever," she said.

This short, stolen happiness.

Zhai Cheng hugged Song Ge tightly. "No matter what, I'll always be with you," he said.

Song Ge looked at Zhai Cheng, and just then Zhai Cheng turned his head. Their eyes met. She always felt that Zhai Cheng knew something. Her eyes flickered, and she avoided his gaze.

"I'm a bit tired. Let's go inside," Song Ge said as she got up.

Watching Song Ge's back, Zhai Cheng fell into deep thought.

Back in the villa, Song Ge sat in the living room, feeling a bit restless.

When Zhai Cheng came in later and saw Song Ge like this, he took her out for a walk. But soon, they came back.

After returning, Zhai Cheng went alone to the outside of the garden. No one knew what he was doing.

Song Ge didn't go out. She sat in the living room watching TV. She got up to peel some fruits. Seeing that Zhai Cheng was still outside, she carried the fruits out.

Zhai Cheng didn't notice Song Ge coming out. He was still on the phone.

"Ask the lawyer to sort out all my property, including real estate, in the next few days."

The person on the other end of the phone probably asked something. Zhai Cheng replied, "Give a part of the property to my mother and Song Ge's parents. Donate the rest to the welfare home."

"Bang!" The plate in Song Ge's hand dropped to the ground, making a noise that startled both of them.

Zhai Cheng immediately hung up the phone. Song Ge stood still, still thinking about what she had just heard.

"Why didn't you make a sound? You really scared me," Zhai Cheng pretended to be calm.

Song Ge looked up and asked, "Why are you distributing all your property?"

"It's nothing. I just thought that we would live an ordinary life together in the future. But don't you dislike it?"

Song Ge shook her head. "No, it can't be just that." After a pause, she said, "You've long noticed that I'm not in good health. You want to die with me, don't you?"

Hit the nail on the head. Zhai Cheng didn't hide it anymore. "Yes. If you're no longer here, what's the meaning of my living alone?"

Song Ge suddenly laughed. She didn't find his action touching at all. "Zhai Cheng, why are you so naive? If I die, my parents need you to take care of them, and so does your mother. If you... who will take care of them?"

"I'll arrange everything properly," Zhai Cheng held Song Ge's shoulders. "Trust me."

Song Ge pulled his hands away. "I want to calm down alone," she said. Then she turned around and walked away. Zhai Cheng silently followed her.

"I said don't follow me," Song Ge ran away quickly. Zhai Cheng was worried and followed her.

Song Ge reached a peak. Too tired to go on, she sat down. Her tears had dried up. Looking at the cliff in front of her, she felt very sad.

Zhai Cheng rushed over. Seeing this scene, he was extremely scared. "Song Ge, don't do anything stupid."

Song Ge turned around. Zhai Cheng slowly approached. "Don't move," she said.

Zhai Cheng walked over and grabbed Song Ge. Only then did he feel relieved.

"Don't accompany me, okay? Just let me go alone," Song Ge said.

Zhai Cheng roared, "Have you ever thought about me? How painful it would be for me to live alone."

Song Ge sobbed. Of course, she knew, but...

"If you insist on doing this, let's break up," she said.

"No, I don't want to," Zhai Cheng held Song Ge's hand tightly.

Song Ge struggled and broke free from Zhai Cheng's hand. But she stepped on a stone and lost her balance. She fell off the cliff...

Zhai Cheng looked at the abyss in front of him. The scene just now kept repeating in his mind. He looked at his trembling hands and suddenly covered his head. "It's impossible. It's impossible."
