Chapter 26: The Soft-hearted One

Xia Sanghuan squinted her eyes and looked in the direction of the sound.

The man exuded an invisible aura of oppression. He seemed nonchalant as he slowly walked towards them.

Xia Sanghuan withdrew her gaze, a hint of a smile in her eyes.

Well, the master of this house had finally made his appearance. She didn't need to waste any more words.

As Leng Chuanjin got closer, Xia Anying broke out in a cold sweat on her back. Overwhelmed by the oppressive aura, her tongue almost got tied.

"Mr. Leng, I... what I just said was out of anger. I didn't mean it!" she stammered in a flurry, gritting her teeth in anxiety but unable to come up with a proper excuse.

At this moment, Wang Fu let out a cold snort. "I don't think what this young lady said was out of anger. It was truly from the bottom of her heart!"

Leng Chuanjin didn't say a word.

He glanced at Xia Sanghuan beside him, and for some inexplicable reason, a hint of interest welled up in his heart.

"You're lying!" Xia Anying blushed.

Not wanting to waste any more time here, Xia Sanghuan was about to leave.

Suddenly, she felt a strong gaze on her.

Without even looking, just by the familiar feeling, Xia Sanghuan knew who the owner of that gaze was.

She didn't deliberately avoid it. Instead, she turned her head and gave the man a faint smile.

"Since there's nothing for me here, I'll take my leave."

After saying that, as if remembering something, she glanced at Xia Anying beside her.

The latter was so anxious that she could hardly speak.

After thinking for a while, Xia Sanghuan let out a soft sigh.

She looked at Leng Chuanjin. "May I ask how much the bowl that Xia Anying just broke costs?"

Leng Chuanjin never bothered about such trivial matters. He looked at Wang Fu.

Wang Fu immediately replied, "The bowl this young lady broke is a limited edition from Europe. It has the personal gilded signature of the Queen of Country H. It's truly a priceless treasure."

Hearing this long explanation, Xia Anying first looked up in disbelief, her body trembling. Then, her legs went weak, and she almost stumbled and fell flat on the ground.

Her lips turned pale, and her teeth chattered. How could she possibly afford such an expensive item!

Fear overcame her desire to maintain her image. Xia Anying rolled her eyes and fainted instantly.

Xia Sanghuan was the closest to her.

She witnessed the whole process. As Xia Anying fell, she took a small step to the side.

Just to avoid being hit by this human cushion.

Leng Chuanjin naturally saw this too. The corner of his lips curled up.

This woman was really two-faced.

On the surface, she seemed to be protecting Xia Anying, but in reality, she probably couldn't be bothered with her and just let her do whatever she wanted.

Xia Sanghuan didn't notice the man's inquisitive gaze at this moment.

She shifted her gaze away from Xia Anying and gave an order:

"Uncle Wang, please call a few maids to carry her back."

Since it was Xia Sanghuan's order, Wang Fu reluctantly agreed.

He called a few maids, who carried Xia Anying away perfunctorily.

Xia Sanghuan remained calm. Looking at the maids' perfunctory actions, she was sure that Xia Anying would definitely suffer a few bumps on the way.

She suppressed the smile of schadenfreude. Now that her attention was back, Xia Sanghuan naturally felt the gaze on her getting stronger and stronger.

She turned around in confusion. "Mr. Leng, do you have something to say to me?"

"Nothing," Leng Chuanjin replied.

Xia Sanghuan nodded politely and turned to leave.

"However..."

This sudden turn made her stop in her tracks.

She turned around again and forced a smile. "However, what? Can't this person learn how to speak in a logical way? Can't he just say everything at once!"

As if he could see through Xia Sanghuan's impatience, the smile in Leng Chuanjin's eyes gradually grew.

"Miss Xia, you haven't said how we should deal with the broken limited-edition plate?"

What he meant was, how should they compensate for the plate?

Xia Sanghuan smiled and didn't refute.

After all, it was indeed Xia Anying who broke the plate, and she should indeed pay the price.

She seemed to be deep in thought, and the smile on her lips gradually widened. She asked, "May I ask what the salary of the dishwashing maids here is?"

Hearing this seemingly senseless question, Leng Chuanjin had already guessed what was on her mind.

The smile in his eyes grew even stronger. "It's probably over ten thousand. You can ask Uncle Wang later."

"Okay," Xia Sanghuan nodded.

She had already made up her mind. Her gaze swept over the fragments on the ground. "Xia Anying doesn't have that much money to compensate for the plate. How about letting her work as a dishwasher here to make up for it?"

After saying that, a playful smile appeared on Xia Sanghuan's lips.

Normally, she didn't take Xia Anying seriously. That was why she ignored Xia Anying's repeated provocations.

But now the situation was different. She had to make Xia Anying face the reality, cause less trouble, and do more work.

Leng Chuanjin's fingertips rested on his belt. Unconsciously, a feeling that even he didn't understand welled up in his heart.

"Your idea is quite unique. But it's not impossible," he said.

Then, Leng Chuanjin slowly paced forward. "I'm quite curious. You two don't really have a sisterly bond. Why do you always save her from trouble?"

With his clear mind, he naturally knew that if Xia Sanghuan hadn't proposed the idea of washing dishes to compensate for the plate, Xia Anying's fate would have been a hundred times worse than just washing dishes.

But Xia Sanghuan had thought of this and used a clever enough method to resolve the matter easily.

However, she underestimated Leng Chuanjin.

A man who had been struggling in the business world for years, how could he not see through such a small trick?

"I really don't have a good relationship with her," Xia Sanghuan said frankly now that the truth had been exposed.

She said calmly, "But now she relies on the Fu family. If she causes trouble now, people won't ask about her name. They'll only ask about the Fu family."

Xia Sanghuan looked at Leng Chuanjin without any trace of fear. "Do you understand now?"

Leng Chuanjin naturally understood.

What Xia Sanghuan had been protecting all along was not Xia Anying, but the Fu family.

Such a thought was beyond Leng Chuanjin's expectation.

He knew that Xia Sanghuan was not an ordinary person, but he didn't expect her to think so far ahead.

In Yuntan, young ladies of her age either spent their days dressing up or competing with each other. How many of them had such a calm and steady mind?

This changed Leng Chuanjin's impression of her a little.

"If there's nothing else, I'll leave," Xia Sanghuan said as she lifted her bag and glanced at the time on her phone.

She thought to herself, "Oh no!"

She was already ten minutes late for her appointment with her third sister!

Not daring to waste any more time here, Xia Sanghuan took a deep breath and ran out.

Before leaving, she didn't forget to remind them, "When Xia Anying wakes up, send her to the kitchen to wash dishes. Don't be soft-hearted!"

The girl's words echoed in the hall. Leng Chuanjin couldn't help but smile.

How could he be a soft-hearted person?
