Seeing Xia Sanghuan's look, Leng Chuanjin, who had been about to scold Leng Wanqing some more, hesitated for a moment.
"Don't conflict with her for now," the girl whispered to him. "We still have something to ask her."
The man had no choice but to hold his tongue and let her talk to his sister.
"Miss Leng, did you have a good time?" the girl asked calmly without directly inquiring where she had been or what she had done.
This made Leng Wanqing, who had been waiting to talk back, stunned for a moment.
"Y-yes, I did," she stammered.
Why did this woman, who had previously lectured her in a haughty manner, suddenly change her attitude today?
"Who did you go out with?" the girl asked again.
"Some friends," she replied, looking at her strangely.
"Where did you go with your friends?"
"What's it to you?" she retorted, only to realize something was wrong after this response.
She almost fell into this woman's trap.
Leng Wanqing glared at her, but the girl just smiled faintly.
"You're quite smart," she turned to the man and whispered. "I failed. It seems we still have to rely on you."
Leng Chuanjin gave her a helpless look and continued following her cue.
"Wanqing, even if you don't tell us now, I still have ways to find out your itinerary this afternoon," he said calmly, but his tone was full of threats.
Since she wouldn't cooperate gently, they had to take a tougher approach.
Leng Wanqing pouted. Unwilling as she was, she had no choice but to tell the truth.
Although he had been mentally prepared, the man's eyelid still twitched when he heard the name of the bar from his sister's mouth.
"Don't scold her," the girl quickly patted his shoulder to calm him down.
He let out a slow breath. "Anything else? Did you go anywhere else?"
"I went to the mall on my way home," Leng Wanqing said, lowering her head as if remembering something.
She kicked the tip of her shoe, looking unhappy.
After this, the three of them fell into silence.
After a while, Xia Sanghuan asked, "Did you have a fight with your friends?"
Leng Wanqing nodded.
"Why?"
She opened her mouth but said nothing and then closed it again.
"Tell us. You'll feel better if you let it out," the girl said softly, not at all like her usual cold - hearted self.
"They just ignored me for no reason today," once she had an outlet to pour out her feelings, her grievances gushed out like a flood. "We were fine before, but today they were so cold and didn't even make an appointment for our next meeting."
She pinched her fingers, and tears welled up in her eyes involuntarily.
After hearing her words, Xia Sanghuan felt something was off.
She walked up to her. "Don't cry for now." She took out a tissue and wiped away her tears. "I'm going to take you to meet someone now. You must stay calm, okay?"
Leng Wanqing was scared by her serious face.
"Are you sure?" Leng Chuanjin asked from behind.
"Yes. We don't have much time to waste."
After saying that, she pulled Leng Wanqing upstairs.
"What are you doing?"
"Brother?" She turned back to look at Leng Chuanjin, who was lying on the sofa and couldn't move freely.
However, the man just gave her an unfathomable look and said nothing more.
"What are you bringing me here for?" They walked all the way to Xia Anying's bedroom.
The girl turned around without answering her question. Instead, she said to her worriedly, "After you go in, you must stay calm. Don't scream or run away, okay?"
The girl's voice was low, and her face wore an expression she had never seen before.
"No. I don't want to go in." Leng Wanqing took a step back and was about to run away.
However, Xia Sanghuan reacted faster. She pushed open the door and pulled her in.
The curtains were drawn in the room, and there was a desk facing the window.
A figure was sitting in front of the desk.
Seeing this, Leng Wanqing felt a chill run down her spine.
She gasped and quickly covered her mouth with her hand to prevent herself from screaming.
The next second, Xia Sanghuan turned on the light in the bedroom.
After seeing that the person in front of her was Xia Anying, Leng Wanqing let out a sigh of relief.
The girl let go of her hand and walked behind her sister.
"Why didn't you turn on the light?" she asked while touching her hand. It was warm.
Xia Anying shook her head and said nothing.
The girl sighed and turned to look at Leng Wanqing, who was still confused behind her.
"What's wrong with her?"
She hesitated for a moment, then stepped forward and stood beside Xia Sanghuan. "She's mentally impaired."
The girl was arranging Xia Anying's hair as she spoke.
"What do you mean..."
"Literally. She doesn't understand or know anything now. She may not even be able to speak. But we'll only know the exact situation after the examination," the girl turned to explain to her.
"Why did she become like this?"
"That's exactly what I want to ask," she looked at her.
"You suspect me?" Leng Wanqing's tone suddenly turned sour when she felt her gaze.
"Of course not. I just suspect your 'friends'. They were introduced to you by Xia Anying, weren't they?"
Hearing her words, she was silent for a moment and then nodded.
"What kind of people are they?"
Leng Wanqing bit her lip and said nothing.
"If it weren't for her, would you have interacted with them?"
"No..."
The girl looked at her and sighed helplessly.
"Tell me their names. We'll need them for our investigation." She took a piece of paper and a pen from the desk and handed them to her.
Leng Wanqing hesitated for a moment but still took them.
"Is it okay if I search your body?" Xia Sanghuan thought for a moment and rephrased her question under Leng Wanqing's shocked gaze. "Is it okay if I help you eliminate any potential danger on you?"
Leng Wanqing handed her the written list and reluctantly stood in front of her.
"Raise your hands." The girl put the list on the table and then turned around to check her.
She carefully searched her whole body and then found a mini - eavesdropper behind her ear.
"Just as I thought," she exerted a little force, and the eavesdropper was crushed.
"How did you know there would be one?" Leng Wanqing stared at her in horror.
"I guessed. You're such a good resource. It would be a waste if the other side didn't take advantage of you," the girl threw the pieces of the eavesdropper into the trash can. "I'll ask Brother Chuanjin to arrange a full - body check - up for you later. The eavesdropper is just a minor issue. If there's something implanted in your body..."
