Chapter 279: Suitors

Due to her wild thoughts the previous night, Xia Sanghuan was late for once, which was quite rare for her.

Actually, it couldn't really be called being late. She was just fifteen minutes later than her usual arrival time.

As soon as she entered the laboratory, she saw the bouquets of flowers on her workbench that almost overflowed.

"What's this?"

She walked over with a startled look on her face.

"All sent by your suitors," Professor He replied without looking up as he fiddled with the test tubes in his hands.

If you listened carefully, you could even detect the impatience in his tone.

How could he not be annoyed? Just in the morning, those who came to deliver roses almost broke down the door of the laboratory.

He was even tempted to paste a "No Admittance" sign on the faces of those people.

Suitors? What suitors?

The girl looked at the flowers that almost drowned her with a troubled expression, not knowing what to do with them.

She didn't take the professor's words seriously at all - she didn't think she had any suitors.

In the end, Professor He brought her an empty bucket. After pouring some water into it, she unwrapped the packaging and dumped all the flowers into it.

Maybe because she had been dealing with herbs since childhood, she had a particularly deep affection for these flowers and plants.

Although these flowers were a hassle for her, she still hoped they could live a little longer.

Moreover, they were blooming so beautifully.

The bucket of flowers stayed in the laboratory for the whole day. It was finally pitifully dumped after it had knocked into Professor He and Xia Sanghuan countless times.

Looking at the broken petals, the girl couldn't help but feel a little heartache.

"I'm really afraid that someone will come to send you flowers again," Professor He said to her as they stood in the elevator, looking at the descending floors.

"How is that possible?"

The girl let out a soft laugh.

"They just don't want me to go after them to settle the score."

Professor He glanced at her but didn't say anything.

When they got out of the elevator, she realized that the professor hadn't lied to her.

Looking at the hands holding lunch boxes in front of her, she didn't know what to say for a moment.

Professor He rolled his eyes and walked around them.

Just as the girl was about to follow him, she was blocked by a boy who squeezed over.

They began to introduce the things they had prepared for her one after another, and several of them asked if she liked the flowers in the morning.

Looking at their eager faces, she really didn't have the heart to tell them that she had thrown the flowers away without even looking at the cards tied to the bouquets.

There was nothing she could do. She was really only interested in the flowers themselves.

She perfunctorily said "they're nice" and then turned around to leave.

"Classmate Xia Sanghuan, are you free this weekend? Do you want to go to the movies with me?"

"Do you think Classmate Sanghuan would go with someone as shallow as you? I've got two tickets to an art exhibition. Come with me instead."

These people were arguing fiercely, which gave the girl a headache.

"What do you want?"

She suddenly spoke up.

"The school notice has already been released. There's no need to come to me to plead for mercy."

"If it's a problem with your studies, you can just go to your tutors."

Seeing her serious look, the confessions that were stuck in their throats were swallowed back.

Seeing that they didn't say anything, she walked around them without hesitation.

Maybe because of her cold attitude, no one stopped her when she came back after lunch.

It was time for school to end. As expected, she saw Leng Chuanjin at the school gate.

She was already used to him picking her up after school.

Just as she was about to walk up to him, her wrist was suddenly grabbed.

She turned around and saw a boy.

The boy was looking at her lovingly, and he was even holding a large bouquet of red roses in his arms.

"Classmate Xia Sanghuan," he said slowly in front of everyone, his voice clear and resonant.

"I like you. Please date me."

"What?"

The girl's mind went blank instantly.

It wasn't because of shyness but embarrassment.

She had never been confessed to in public before. She could feel the burning gazes around her.

"You need a boyfriend to protect you," the boy continued to say to her affectionately, not caring about the looks of the people around him at all.

"I..."

Before Xia Sanghuan could refuse, a cold male voice suddenly drifted over.

"She doesn't need one."

Then there was an irresistible force that grabbed her shoulder and pulled her into a familiar embrace.

"Even if she did need one, it wouldn't be you," Leng Chuanjin said in a tone full of authority.

He was a bit taller than the boy, and when he looked at him, there was an inexplicable sense of oppression.

Without saying a word, he grabbed the girl's hand and turned around to leave.

"Who are you? How dare you interrupt me and..."

"I'm her older brother. Go and improve yourself first before thinking about chasing her," he said threateningly as he glanced at the boy.

"Kid."

He stuffed Xia Sanghuan into the car and fastened her seat - belt.

Then he turned around and sat in the driver's seat.

He stepped on the accelerator immediately, not giving the girl any chance to react.

Before she could say anything, he asked in a displeased tone.

"Just one day, and you've already caught someone's eye?"

At first, the girl was a bit angry after hearing this.

It sounded as if it was her fault.

But when she saw his tense profile, she couldn't help but find it a bit funny.

"Yes. I received a lot of flowers today. There were so many that they couldn't even fit on the table."

As expected, the man's face darkened even more.

"Don't accept them."

"Why?"

"It's my freedom to accept or not."

The girl secretly glanced at his expression.

"Moreover, you answered that person's confession to me without my permission. I haven't even said anything about it yet."

The man let out a cold laugh.

"You wouldn't agree anyway."

"Who says I won't?"

She seemed to be deliberately going against him, always saying things he didn't want to hear.

"You still want to agree?"

He suddenly raised his voice.

Leng Chuanjin took a deep breath to calm himself down.

He had been too careless.

Xia Sanghuan was beautiful, powerful, and from a noble family.

She was just like the legendary campus belle in school days.

No one could not like such a girl.

It should be said that she would be every man's dream in his youth.

If it weren't for those previous things, the boys chasing her might line up from Yuntan to Paris, France.

"Don't agree to that boy. Do you hear me?"

He frowned and said uneasily to the girl who was about to get out of the car.

The girl shrugged.

"It depends on my mood."

After saying that, she got out of the car without giving him any chance to lecture her.

For some reason, seeing Leng Chuanjin being deflated because of this kind of thing made her feel inexplicably happy.

It was as if he was jealous about this.
