Chapter 10: Making a Home in the Old Temple at the Foot of the Mountain

Su Xiaoliu looked at him, a twinge of不忍 crossing her heart.

She reached out to smooth his robe and said, "You're not stupid. You're very smart, but you need to learn to take responsibility and make money. Do you understand?"

Situ Qianyue looked at her with a half - smile and curved his lips, saying, "But I'm lazy."

Su Xiaoliu was taken aback. She hadn't expected him to remember what she'd said yesterday.

Su Xiaoliu thought for a while and said, "How about you come back to live with my father with me? As long as we don't tell anyone, no one will laugh at us." At this point, it didn't really matter if they went back. Being mocked by her sister was better than living a hard life.

Situ Qianyue shook his head gently and said, "I can take care of you. We're not going back."

Su Xiaoliu frowned and said, "Martial arts can only protect yourself. If I'm far away from you, no matter how powerful you are, you can't protect me completely. What I need is money. As long as I don't starve to death, I can protect myself."

Situ Qianyue fluttered his long eyelashes and insisted, "We're not going back."

Su Xiaoliu disliked his stubbornness and childishness the most. She got a bit angry and unconsciously raised her voice, "Do you think I want to follow you? You don't want to go back, but I do!" Everyone in the capital who knew her thought she was a woman who would bring bad luck to her husband. No good would come to anyone who married her. And she had been divorced several times, so no one was willing to marry her anymore. If it hadn't been for her father's arrangement, she would never have married into this old temple and become the wife of the poorest man.

Situ Qianyue remained silent. His dark eyes dimmed, and his red lips pursed slightly.

The more Su Xiaoliu thought about it, the more aggrieved she felt. She pointed to the door and shouted, "Get out and reflect on your own!"

After saying that, she squatted down and buried her head in her arms.

After a while, Su Xiaoliu calmed down. She raised her head but found that Situ Qianyue was no longer there.

"Situ Qianyue... Situ Qianyue?"

She stood up, scanned the surroundings, and then rushed to the door to look around, but she didn't see his shadow anywhere.

Could he really have left?

Su Xiaoliu stood at the door, her brows furrowed slightly.

Wasn't this what she wanted? She could take this opportunity to go back to the Su family and have nothing to do with him ever again.

As she was thinking like this, suddenly a hoarse voice came from the door.

"Girl, could you spare me a drink of water?"

Su Xiaoliu turned around. An old white - haired man in a tattered black cloth jacket, leaning on a walking stick, was looking at her.

At first glance, he seemed like a beggar, but the difference was that this old man's eyes were full of energy, like a man who had been wandering in the martial arts world.

Su Xiaoliu nodded, turned around to scoop up a ladle of clear water from the water tank, put it in the teacup she'd brought back, and walked over to hand it to him.

The old white - haired man took the teacup, tilted his head back, and then handed the empty teacup back.

Su Xiaoliu was stunned for a moment and then took the teacup.

"Do you want more?" she asked, about to turn around to scoop up another ladle.

The old white - haired man reached out his hand and said with a smile, "No, no. That's enough."

Su Xiaoliu turned back again and put the teacup on the table.

"Girl, I've always been very accurate in seeing things. This place of yours is really wonderful. If you turn it into a teahouse, you're bound to make a fortune in the days to come," the old white - haired man said with a smile after looking around and then at her.

As soon as Su Xiaoliu heard something about making money, she immediately perked up. She leaned a bit closer and whispered, "Uncle, why is that?"

The old white - haired man smiled, pointed his walking stick at the inside of the temple, and said, "There's still half a month until the opening of the Jianghu Pingshan Conference. All those who are going to attend the conference will pass by here. After a long and tiring journey, if they see a teahouse, they're sure to stop and take a rest."

There seemed to be countless gold coins flashing in Su Xiaoliu's eyes. She nodded in sudden enlightenment, looked at the old white - haired man, suddenly smiled, and brought over a stool, saying hurriedly, "Uncle, sit down quickly. I'll go and pour you some tea!"

Seeing her so smart, the old white - haired man burst into laughter, full of affection. He put a silver ingot on the table and said, "Girl, I just like kids like you. If you ever meet me in the future and need any help, just ask."

After saying that, he got up and was about to leave.

"I'll be leaving first. See you later, girl."

Just as he stepped over the threshold and his voice faded, he "whooshed" away from the spot and disappeared.

Su Xiaoliu's eyes widened. She took three steps in two and rushed outside, looking around several times, but really couldn't find his shadow.

Su Xiaoliu turned back with admiration on her face. Who would have thought that as soon as she turned around, she saw a figure fall through the broken hole in the roof of the old temple.

"Ouch..."

The cry of pain made Su Xiaoliu stand still.

When she saw that it was the old white - haired uncle who had fallen to the ground, Su Xiaoliu quickly rushed over to help him up.

"Uncle?" She looked at this old white - haired man who had "disappeared" just now with a complicated expression, unable to understand why he had suddenly fallen through the broken hole in the roof.

The old white - haired man rubbed his sore thigh, looked at Su Xiaoliu, sighed, and said, "I'm old. I can't perform light kung fu anymore. As soon as I got on the roof, I stepped on a hole..."

Su Xiaoliu gave him a rather speechless look.

After seeing off the old white - haired uncle, Su Xiaoliu turned around and saw the silver ingot on the table.

Anyway, that uncle was a good person. Who would give silver to a stranger for no reason?

Su Xiaoliu took the silver and started to think about how to turn this old temple into a teahouse, waiting for Situ Qianyue to come back...

"Situ Qianyue?" Su Xiaoliu murmured.

Thinking of this name, she came to her senses. She sat down and sighed softly.

"Wife..."

Suddenly, that familiar and pleasant soft call came to her ears.

Su Xiaoliu was stunned for a moment. She looked up and saw Situ Qianyue in white clothes standing beside the door like a child who had done something wrong, looking at her.

Su Xiaoliu's heart softened. She raised the corners of her mouth and said with a bit of guilt, "Come in. I don't blame you." It was she who had been too impulsive and always said hurtful things.

Seeing that she wasn't angry, Situ Qianyue's eyes sparkled with a smile. His red lips curved, and he walked in.

"Where did you go just now?" Su Xiaoliu looked up and asked.

Situ Qianyue looked down at her. His jade - like dark eyes were shining.

"I didn't dare to go far, afraid that something might happen to you," he said softly.

Su Xiaoliu nodded. The moment she heard his voice, she could clearly feel that she had let out a sigh of relief.

After all, they had been together for so long. Although they couldn't be said to have deep feelings, there was still a sense of empathy.

Remembering what the old white - haired man had said before, Su Xiaoliu's eyes sparkled again. She stood up and said, "By the way, let's turn this place into a teahouse."

Situ Qianyue looked at her with a bit of confusion and blinked his eyes.

Su Xiaoliu took two steps forward, put her hands behind her back and spun around, then raised the corners of her mouth and said with a smile, "Make a fortune!"

Situ Qianyue fluttered his long eyelashes and said with a smile, "Okay."

It seemed that no matter what she did, he would always follow her.
