Chapter 41: Entering the Palace and Being Bullied by Gu Qinglan

When Mo Qinghuan woke up, Mu Yanming was no longer in bed. She craned her neck to look outside and saw him sitting at the table, seemingly lost in thought.

"You're awake," Mu Yanming said without turning his head.

Mo Qinghuan couldn't see his expression, but she could sense that the air pressure around him was very low. Moreover, his tone was not as gentle as before. Instead, it carried a hint of coldness and detachment.

She got out of bed and put on her shoes. Just then, Dan'er came to the door holding clothes in her hands.

"Greetings to Your Highness the Prince and Her Highness the Princess," Dan'er said.

Mo Qinghuan walked over, took the clothes, and pulled Dan'er behind the screen to change.

When Dan'er saw the marks on Mo Qinghuan's neck, she couldn't help but feel happy.

After changing her clothes, Mo Qinghuan walked out, sat in front of the dressing table, and let Dan'er arrange her complex hairstyle. From then on, as a married woman and especially as the noble Princess Regent, she had to pay attention to her demeanor at all times every day, lest someone make a big deal out of it and harm Mu Yanming.

After getting ready, she saw Mu Yanming stand up, so she turned her head and asked, "Where are you going?"

Mu Yanming gave her a sidelong glance. "After washing up, we're entering the palace." After saying these two cold words, he left.

After she finished washing up, just as she was about to eat something, Bai Ke came. However, she hadn't eaten much the night before, and it seemed there was no breakfast for her now.

So she looked at Bai Ke pitifully and asked, "What's up?"

"Your Highness the Princess, His Highness the Prince is already waiting for you in the carriage," Bai Ke replied.

She had no choice but to follow Bai Ke. When she reached the main entrance, sure enough, the carriage was already parked there.

After she got into the carriage, she sat in the seat across from Mu Yanming on his left. Then she saw some snacks on the lattice of the carriage. Just as she was about to reach for them, Mu Yanming gave her a look, and she quickly withdrew her hand.

"What did you do to this king last night?" Mu Yanming looked at her coldly, his eyes slightly narrowed, exuding a dangerous aura.

Mo Qinghuan didn't know what to say. At this moment, her stomach growled loudly.

Mu Yanming felt secretly annoyed and averted his eyes.

Only then did Mo Qinghuan pick up a small piece of snack and start eating. She thought to herself, forget it. Just eat a little to fill my stomach. I'll have a good meal when I get back.

It wasn't long before the carriage arrived at the palace gate.

Mu Yanming got out of the carriage. Mo Qinghuan was quite puzzled. When did Mu Yanming become so obedient to the rules?

It wasn't until a little maid disguised as a eunuch stuffed something into her hand that she understood why.

"The wedding veil..."

She followed behind Mu Yanming, but Mu Yanming walked very fast. After just a few steps, he left her behind.

She wasn't in a hurry and walked slowly. Anyway, she didn't believe that Mu Yanming would really leave her behind. Even if he did, he would send Bai Ke to look for her.

When they arrived at the Queen's palace, the Queen had never made things difficult for Mo Qinghuan before. In addition, she had highly praised Mo Qinghuan during her last visit to the palace. So Mo Qinghuan didn't have any dissatisfaction with the Queen. However, she then remembered the moment during the wedding when Mu Yanming was in trouble, and the Queen didn't seem to have offered any help.

So she felt a bit more distant from the Queen.

"Greetings to Your Majesty the Queen," Mu Yanming led Mo Qinghuan to pay their respects to the Queen. The Queen placed the red envelopes on a tray, and the maid beside her carried the tray towards Mu Yanming and Mo Qinghuan.

Mu Yanming took the red envelopes. He knew that after taking the red envelopes, he should place the wedding veil on the tray, but Mo Qinghuan didn't know, and he deliberately didn't remind her.

The maid stood in front of Mo Qinghuan for a long time but didn't wait for Mo Qinghuan to take out the wedding veil. So she embarrassedly turned her head and looked at the Queen.

The Queen withdrew her gaze and said gently, "Qinghuan, did you bring your wedding veil..."

Because the Emperor had asked her to further confirm this matter, she didn't beat around the bush.

Mo Qinghuan knew it would be like this, but she still couldn't help but mock in her heart, "What a boring hobby. Whether a couple sleeps together or not, what does it matter to you people? It's really speechless."

She took out the veil from her sleeve. Although she was dissatisfied in her heart, she still deliberately pretended to be shy and leaned towards Mu Yanming.

After the Queen inspected it, she smiled and said, "Good. As long as you young couple live in harmony, the Emperor and this palace will be at ease."

She remembered what the Emperor had done before and couldn't help but twitch the corner of her mouth. This Queen was really pitiful. So what if she sat in this high position? Was she really living a happy life?

Mu Yanming didn't do much chatting. He held her hand and walked outside.

Just then, they met Gu Qinglan, who came to pay her respects to the Queen. As soon as Gu Qinglan saw Mu Yanming, she immediately put on a charming smile. "Greetings to His Highness the Prince Regent." Mo Qinghuan didn't want to pay attention to her at first, but Mu Yanming didn't allow others to disrespect the Princess Regent. So she coldly said to Gu Qinglan,

"Why don't you pay your respects to the Princess Regent? Is this how the Gu family teaches etiquette?"

Mo Qinghuan looked at him sideways and then at Gu Qinglan. As expected, Gu Qinglan looked aggrieved after hearing this.

"Greetings to the Princess Regent," she said reluctantly as she bowed.

Mu Yanming didn't give her a chance to say anything else. He pulled Mo Qinghuan and continued walking.

When they reached the imperial garden, Mu Yanming was called away by a little eunuch who rushed over.

Mo Qinghuan was left in the imperial garden. "Wait for this king here. Don't go anywhere. This king will come back to pick you up immediately after finishing his business."

Mo Qinghuan nodded. Seeing that there were quite a few people in the imperial garden, she walked over.

Coincidentally, they were acquaintances. Well, to be more accurate, they had just met before.

As soon as the Duchess of the Duke's Mansion saw her, she immediately pulled her daughter, Zhao Yiyi, towards her.

"Yiyi, quickly pay your respects to the Princess Regent," she said as she bowed first.

Mo Qinghuan wasn't used to her new identity yet. Seeing this, she quickly bent down to help the duchess up.

The duchess was startled. "Your Highness the Princess, you mustn't do this." She could only smile awkwardly.

"Thank you, Your Highness the Princess, for your help before. Now Yiyi's illness has completely recovered, and the Emperor has already arranged a marriage for her," the duchess said. Zhao Yiyi shyly lowered her head.

"That's good. It was just a small thing for me," Mo Qinghuan said with a proper smile on her face.

After chatting for a few words, the duchess pulled her daughter away to talk to other ladies. Mo Qinghuan was left standing there alone.

Not long after, Gu Qinglan walked over. Looking at Mo Qinghuan's back, thinking about how she had been outshone by Mo Qinghuan in the imperial garden last time and how she had been humiliated because of her today, she bit her lips tightly and walked towards Mo Qinghuan.

The moment Mo Qinghuan turned around, Gu Qinglan adjusted her expression.

"Why is the Princess Regent alone here? Where is the Prince Regent?" Gu Qinglan still didn't pay her respects because she thought in her heart that she was nobler than Mo Qinghuan.

When Mo Qinghuan turned around and saw Gu Qinglan, she also saw Mu Yanming walking over.

"It seems that Miss Gu is very concerned about the Prince Regent. Could it be that you have feelings for the Prince Regent..." She saw that Mu Yanming had stopped not far away and knew that Mu Yanming could hear their conversation. "If so, this princess doesn't mind talking to the prince about taking another concubine."

Gu Qinglan was so angry that she wrung the handkerchief in her hand. "What are you talking nonsense about!" She walked over and raised her hand, about to hit Mo Qinghuan.

Mo Qinghuan looked into her eyes. "You'd better think clearly about the consequences of this slap."

"Humph, can't I even hit you?"
