Chapter 62 A Joke

Mo Qinghuan let Mu Yanming pull her hand. As she left, she turned back to say goodbye to the others.

Mu Yanming pulled her all the way to the palace gate. When they reached the carriage, Mo Qinghuan glanced around. Seeing that no one was paying attention, she quickly snatched her hand back.

Mu Yanming's hand was suddenly empty, and his heart skipped a beat. He was stunned for a moment before getting into the carriage.

As soon as he sat down, Mo Qinghuan spoke up. "Are you so sure that we can find the eldest prince in three days?"

Mo Qinghuan looked into his eyes. She always felt that this matter had something to do with Mu Yanming.

However, she also knew that she shouldn't get involved in such things.

Mu Yanming saw her in a daze for a while. He could probably guess what she was suspecting, but Mo Qinghuan's look made him uncomfortable. So he closed his eyes and sat there upright.

The carriage was rattling along when suddenly there was a commotion outside.

Then a guard shouted, "Who is it! How dare you block the Regent's carriage!"

Bai Ke jumped out of the carriage and walked up to the crowd. Looking at the two people on the ground, he asked unhappily, "What's going on?"

The young couple immediately rushed over when they saw Bai Ke. They hugged his legs and cried.

Mo Qinghuan was annoyed by the noise. She lifted the curtain and looked in Bai Ke's direction. "Bai Ke, what's going on?"

Bai Ke turned around and glanced at Mo Qinghuan. Then he bent down to help the two people up.

"May I ask you two..."

The young woman was sobbing so hard that she couldn't say a word. The man looked at Bai Ke, wiped his tears, and said with red eyes, "My lord, we've come to report a crime."

Bai Ke lifted his hand to dust off his clothes. His expression was cold, and his tone was icy. "If you want to report a crime, please go to the yamen. Don't get in the way here."

After saying that, Bai Ke looked at the guard beside him. The guard immediately stepped forward and pulled the two people away.

But the man kept struggling and shouting, "We've been to the yamen, but the yamen runners said that all the people in the yamen had gone out to look for the missing eldest prince and told us not to get in the way. We had no choice but to block your carriage. Please, my lord, do us justice..."

Mo Qinghuan glanced at Mu Yanming, who had his eyes closed and seemed oblivious to the farce outside. Angrily, she clenched her fists, lifted the curtain, and jumped out of the carriage.

When she walked up to Bai Ke, she glared at him angrily. Bai Ke frowned but didn't dare to say anything.

Mo Qinghuan bent down to help the young woman up. "What happened? Tell me."

When the young woman saw that Mo Qinghuan was easy to talk to, she knelt down again.

"Madam, my husband and I came to the capital to visit my mother, elder brother, and sister - in - law. But when we got to my mother's house, the neighbors told us that my elder brother and sister - in - law had been killed, and my mother was missing. We're not familiar with the capital. No one in the yamen would help us. We had no choice but to block the noble's carriage here."

After saying that, the young woman cried and collapsed to the ground. Fortunately, her husband caught her in time.

After hearing this, Mo Qinghuan seemed to realize something. She turned back to look at Bai Ke.

Bai Ke's expression was also one of disbelief. It seemed that Mo Qinghuan had guessed right. These two were the daughter - in - law and son - in - law of the old woman whose son and daughter - in - law she had treated but accidentally caused their deaths.

She suddenly didn't know how to face them. So she stood up, turned around, and ordered Bai Ke, "Bai Ke, take them back to the mansion."

"Princess, the prince won't allow people of unknown origin to enter the mansion. But don't worry, princess. I'll arrange for them to stay in an inn."

Bai Ke glanced at Mo Qinghuan. Seeing that her face looked bad, and since Bai Ke had made such an arrangement, Mo Qinghuan didn't say anything.

She got into the carriage and sat there silently. Mu Yanming sensed that her mood was off, but he didn't ask until they reached the mansion.

After entering the mansion, Mo Qinghuan suddenly called out to Mu Yanming, who was walking in front. "Wait a minute."

Mu Yanming in front turned around. "What's up?"

"Prepare a separate courtyard for me." She looked up into Mu Yanming's eyes.

Only then did she notice that Mu Yanming's eyes were extremely cold. He was like a man without any warmth.

"No. Don't you forget what I said? You have to play the role of a loving couple with me no matter when and where."

Mo Qinghuan didn't want to look at his expression anymore. She shifted her gaze. "A loving couple? But how come I heard from Miss Gu that you're going to marry her soon?"

Mu Yanming got closer to Mo Qinghuan and looked into her eyes. Mo Qinghuan was under his great pressure but showed no fear at all. She just stared back at him.

Bai Ke stood not far away and felt that the air was filled with a crackling smell of gunpowder.

He lifted Mo Qinghuan's chin without any expression. "Huan'er, don't listen to what others say. You should remember what I've told you."

After saying that, he let go of Mo Qinghuan's chin, ruffled her hair, and walked towards the Jingting Courtyard.

Mo Qinghuan rubbed her chin and carefully recalled what Mu Yanming had said to her. But... what had Mu Yanming said...

She went back to her room alone. When Dan'er and Shuang'er saw her come back in a gloomy mood, they glanced at each other and then stepped forward to support her on either side.

She looked at them suspiciously. "What are you two doing?"

Dan'er and Shuang'er smiled sweetly. "Miss, are you tired? Are you hungry? Do you want something to eat?"

Mo Qinghuan sighed and shook her head. "I'm not hungry. Get the medicine box for me. I'm going out of the mansion."

Dan'er saw that her face looked bad. Although she was worried about her, she knew that her words didn't carry much weight. So she secretly exchanged glances with Shuang'er.

Shuang'er was smart. She immediately received her sister's message and helped Mo Qinghuan back to the room. Dan'er went to look for Mu Yanming.

"Commander Bai, is the prince in the mansion?" Dan'er ran up to Bai Ke. Bai Ke gave her a smile.

"The prince is in the study. What's up?" He grinned, showing his white teeth.

"Commander Bai, could you please tell the prince that the princess is going out of the mansion? But I see that her face looks bad. I'm a bit worried."

Just as she was speaking, Mu Yanming walked past them. When he reached Bai Ke, he looked at him. "Don't interfere with where she goes, but send people to protect her secretly. I don't want the previous kidnapping incident to happen again. Do you understand?"

Seeing Mu Yanming's serious expression, Bai Ke immediately clasped his fists and agreed.

"See, Dan'er. The prince really cares about the princess. So you don't have to worry now, right?" As he said this, he stroked Dan'er's face.

Dan'er's face instantly turned red up to her ears.

"Bai Ke!" Mo Qinghuan saw this scene and was almost so angry that she wanted to give Bai Ke a needle. Bai Ke was also startled by Mo Qinghuan's expression.

He quickly clasped his fists, lowered his head, and assumed a submissive posture.

Mo Qinghuan walked over and pulled Dan'er behind her.

"Commander Bai, let me tell you. I don't care how much Mu Yanming values you. If you dare to act recklessly, I will never let you go."

"Princess, it's a misunderstanding. I was just joking with Miss Dan'er."

Mo Qinghuan looked at Dan'er. Dan'er nodded, and she didn't say anything more.
