Chapter 71 I Saw Your Face Clearly

After the Queen heard Mo Qinghuan's words, she was directly stunned.

"Qinghuan, are you sure? Before she left the capital, the imperial physician said that her illness wouldn't allow her to live for more than two years. Now it's almost the second year, and her illness has obviously worsened. She looks like she could die at any moment."

Mo Qinghuan saw that the concern in the Queen's eyes didn't seem fake. She decided to take a gamble. So she lifted her skirt and knelt on the ground.

"Your Majesty the Queen, please forgive this subject's bluntness. The Eldest Princess's illness is not fatal. What's fatal is... the poison in her body."

After Mo Qinghuan finished speaking, she lowered her eyes and waited quietly for the Queen's reaction and words. The Queen staggered back two steps after hearing this and barely managed to stand still by holding on to the chair.

This reaction made Mo Qinghuan think that the Queen was not the one who had poisoned the Eldest Princess. So she said, "Your Majesty the Queen, the poison the Eldest Princess was poisoned with is extremely rare. This subject must go back as soon as possible to look through medical books to find an antidote for the Eldest Princess. Her body can't wait."

The Queen steadied her mind, walked over, helped Mo Qinghuan up, and pulled her to sit down. "Qinghuan, this palace has a few questions to ask you. You must answer truthfully."

Mo Qinghuan more or less guessed what the Queen was going to ask, but still nodded.

The Queen's eyes looked out of the inner room and then at Mo Qinghuan. She let out a long sigh and said, "Qinghuan, it's not that this palace is heartless. This palace asks you, after the poison is removed, is there any hope for the Eldest Princess to bear children for the royal family?"

Mo Qinghuan sneered in her heart. She looked at the Queen coldly and withdrew her hand. "Your Majesty the Queen means that if there's no hope for her to conceive, then we won't save the Eldest Princess, right?"

"Of course this palace doesn't mean that. If she can't give birth, others can. After they give birth, the children can be adopted under her name. They will still be the legitimate eldest sons. But, as you just said, her illness doesn't allow her to get angry or be overly sad or happy." The Queen stood up and turned her back to Mo Qinghuan.

"As a woman, you should understand that if we were to marry a concubine for the Eldest Prince under such circumstances, she couldn't help but be angry and sad. So, all of this palace's current considerations are for her own good. I hope you can understand."

Mo Qinghuan also stood up and walked up to the Queen. "I don't know if she can conceive or not. Whether to save her or not is also up to Your Majesty the Queen. But this subject thinks it's necessary to remind Your Majesty the Queen that, in this subject's opinion, the Eldest Prince has deep feelings for the Eldest Princess. If he finds out one day that Your Majesty the Queen gave up the chance for her to give birth, will he hate you?"

After she finished speaking, without giving the Queen a chance to speak, she turned around and walked outside.

The Queen's helpless sigh sounded from behind. "Save her. Do your best."

She turned back to look at the Queen and let out a long sigh of relief. "Okay, this subject will definitely do her best. But there's something to be noted. Please inform the Eldest Prince for this subject."

The Queen raised her hand and made a stop gesture. "This palace knows what you're going to say. I will remind my son."

Mo Qinghuan walked out. Several people were still immersed in joy. As soon as they saw Mo Qinghuan, the Eldest Prince rushed over first.

"What did Sister - in - law say to Mother? Did you hide the real situation from us?"

Mo Qinghuan's arm was grabbed so tightly that it hurt. She glanced at her arm and frowned. The Eldest Prince realized his rudeness, lowered his head, and let go of his hand.

Min Feiyan walked over and held his hand. "Your Highness, I believe Sister - in - law."

Mo Qinghuan nodded at Min Feiyan. "I won't let your trust down." After saying that, she picked up her medicine chest and walked outside.

Bai Ke saw her coming out, glanced at her, and walked in front.

Mo Qinghuan lightened her steps. There was a plum - blossom needle with a sleeping drug between her fingers. This was what she had prepared for Bai Ke. She planned to prick Bai Ke unconscious the moment they got back to the prince's mansion to let her understand that as a guard, if she carried emotions while on a mission, she would lose her sharp insight and reaction ability, and might even lose her life.

When they reached the palace gate, Bai Ke had already sat in the carriage first. To Mo Qinghuan's surprise, she didn't even put down the footstool for her.

But Mo Qinghuan wasn't angry. She walked to the carriage, lifted her clothes, climbed up, and sat inside.

The carriage was moving slowly. She played with the plum - blossom needle and then clamped it between her fingertips. Then she leaned against the carriage and took a little nap.

The coachman shouted "Whoa", and the carriage stopped. Bai Ke jumped out of the carriage and said coldly, "Your Highness the Princess, we're here."

Mo Qinghuan lifted the curtain and got out. When she walked up to Bai Ke, she gently raised her hand and patted Bai Ke's shoulder. "Bai Ke, don't carry emotions while on a mission. Otherwise..."

Before she could finish her words, with a thud, Bai Ke fell to the ground. The steward who came to greet them saw this scene, walked over, and helped Bai Ke up without showing any panic.

"Your Highness, what's wrong with Bai Ke?"

Mo Qinghuan raised her eyebrows and smiled. She turned around and walked towards the Yangyang Hall. "Uncle Zhong, help him back to rest. He's tired."

She walked into the room, put the medicine chest on the table, sat in front of the table, poured herself a cup of tea. After drinking it, she got up and walked into the inner room. She saw Mu Yanming sitting on the bed with his eyes closed. But she knew he mustn't be sleeping.

She didn't say anything and just tidied up her clothes. Mu Yanming opened his eyes and glanced at the door.

"Where's Bai Ke?"

When Bai Ke was mentioned, Mo Qinghuan wanted to laugh but still held it back by biting her lips.

"Do you want to hear about Bai Ke or what happened in the palace today?"

"This king doesn't want to hear about either. Come here and go to bed and rest." Then he closed his eyes again.

Mo Qinghuan was also tired. She stretched and raised her hand to rub the back of her neck. Then she started to take off her clothes. But when she raised her hand, she found that there was no screen to hang her clothes on. She looked at Mu Yanming speechlessly.

He was still dressed neatly.

"See, I told you not to move the screen away."

Mu Yanming lazily lifted his eyelids. "Someone will send a new one tomorrow."

He got out of bed and started to untie his belt. Mo Qinghuan turned her back and didn't look at him. After taking off her clothes, she got into bed. The bed still had Mu Yanming's warmth, and she soon fell asleep.

However, she had a dream. In the dream, there was a white mist. She could only see a blurry figure but couldn't see his face.

She chased after the figure and kept walking forward, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't catch up with him.

Finally, the figure stopped in front of a courtyard. Mo Qinghuan also caught up.

The figure turned around and looked at Mo Qinghuan. Only then did she see the face clearly. But it was a completely strange face, someone she didn't know. But for some reason, she always had a feeling of familiarity, as if he was someone around her.

Just as she was thinking, a soft voice calling her name rang in her ear.

"Qinghuan... Qinghuan, wake up." She felt someone push her body, and her feet went soft. She fell to the ground.

She suddenly opened her eyes and saw Mu Yanming's magnified face and his hand still in the air.

"What's wrong?" she asked Mu Yanming.

Seeing that she was awake, Mu Yanming lay on his side, propping his head up with one hand. "This should be this king's question. What's wrong with you?"

Mo Qinghuan sat up, crossed her legs, and looked at Mu Yanming. "I had a strange dream. In the dream, someone took me to a courtyard, but I couldn't see where it was, and I didn't recognize that person."
