Chapter 18 Sharing a Room

Manager Yang didn't expect her to be so incisive. His face immediately turned extremely awkward, looking like he wanted to say something but held back.

Yan Xia smiled at him. "Although she is nominally Mr. Fang's girlfriend, Mr. Fang never shows favoritism when it comes to work."

She could even imagine Peng Shiyi's expression after knowing that she was working at Shengshi. It must be indescribable. Peng Shiyi would surely be unwilling if she wasn't allowed to keep an eye on her in every aspect, pick on her and give her a hard time.

All of a sudden, Yan Xia had an extra project on hand, and it was said that it was needed by tomorrow morning. She was so busy that she didn't even have dinner. When she finally had time to look up from the computer again, it was already dark outside.

She felt that her own ability was too limited. Finally, she couldn't help but want to go out and ask some people for help. Only then did she find that there was no one outside.

Everyone left work on time today. There wasn't even a single person working overtime.

Finally, she ran into a colleague who came back to get something. She grabbed the person and asked about the situation. The other person was also confused and replied to her.

"Supervisor Lu, why haven't you left work yet? Manager Yang gave the order early this morning. We should leave work on time today because our department is having a dinner gathering. I was just wondering why you weren't there."

"Department dinner gathering?" Yan Xia gritted her teeth as soon as she heard that.

Yang Fan, that opportunist, clearly did it on purpose to make things difficult for her. He assigned her tasks that were impossible to complete and called away all the colleagues who could help, just to see her make a fool of herself.

Feeling indignant, Yan Xia turned off all the lights on the entire floor of the project department, leaving only the light in her own office on. On the way, she ordered a takeout for herself.

When she came back, she vaguely felt something was wrong. The empty office area was not even lit, but she faintly heard footsteps. She felt scared and stood still on the spot.

"Who's there?" she asked, her voice trembling.

The light switch wasn't within reach. Yan Xia walked back nervously. Suddenly, she felt that there was really someone walking behind her. Her voice immediately rose, and she let out a scream.

At the same time, the sound of turning on the lights came. All the lights on the ceiling came on. Yan Xia was holding the takeout in her hand and covered her face with her arm, not daring to put it down.

"Supervisor Lu, why are you still here?"

Yan Xia put down her arm and saw Fang Jiangyi. She replied nervously, "There was someone just now..."

"It was me." He glanced at her and suddenly let out a suspicious laugh. "I thought you were fearless. I didn't expect you to be afraid of the dark. Just like..."

Suddenly, he remembered Yan Xia. That little girl used to be most afraid of the dark and often didn't dare to sleep alone. She would always drag Cheng Yanxi to sleep with her.

Yan Xia's heart skipped a beat, but she pretended not to know anything and asked, tilting her head, "Just like what?"

"Nothing. I just thought of a kid."

It seemed that there were rarely opportunities for the two of them to talk so quietly and calmly.

It was so peaceful that Yan Xia had an illusion that those things had never happened. But she knew clearly that Fang Jiangyi was no longer the person she could talk to freely.

He hated her whole family, and she hated him to the core too.

Yan Xia changed the topic. "Why are you still in the company, Mr. Fang?"

"I have some work to deal with." He glanced at the takeout in her hand. "Are you still going to work overtime?"

Yan Xia spread her hands and sneered. "Manager Yang took all the colleagues in the project department to the dinner gathering but didn't take me. He also assigned me an urgent project that is needed tomorrow. I have no choice but to stay and work overtime."

Fang Jiangyi didn't quite understand. "What do you mean by that?"

Yan Xia turned around and walked towards her office. "You should ask your girlfriend about this. I don't know where I've offended her again."

Fang Jiangyi followed her into the office. The desktop was covered with paper materials, and the computer was still on. It was obvious that she had been extremely busy.

Yan Xia piled up all the materials to one side and opened the takeout on her own.

"It seems that you don't know how important you are in your girlfriend's heart. But I think I've never done anything beyond the line to you."

Suddenly, she laughed unusually. "I just don't know why your girlfriend is so hostile to me. Does she have persecution mania?"

Fang Jiangyi wasn't stupid. He immediately understood the current situation.

"I'll talk to Shiyi about this." He pulled over the chair opposite on his own. "However, although you didn't come to Shengshi for me, it's undeniable that you do have a purpose."

Yan Xia was still looking at the computer while eating. Hearing this, she suddenly stopped and looked at him.

"I did have a purpose when I came to Shengshi."
