Chapter 32: Deciding to Stay a Few More Days

Kang Bai gave Wen Sining a meaningful look. His mouth opened as if he wanted to say something, but he held it back. He picked up the medicine kit beside him and was about to leave.

"Doctor Kang," Wen Sining finally spoke after a long thought.

In the empty room, there were only the two of them. She had to clear up some doubts deep in her heart.

Kang Bai turned back. Wen Sining looked into his eyes and summoned up her courage.

"Do you know my grandma?"

A subtle emotion flashed across his calm eyes. Kang Bai tightened his grip on the handle of the medicine kit. "Get some rest early."

Without getting an answer to her question, Kang Bai just left.

The smell of iodine in the air was the only sign that Kang Bai had been there.

His ignoring left Wen Sining utterly confused. Did he know her grandma or not?

Kang Bai stood on the steps and looked back.

"Doctor Kang, the meat is grilled. Do you want some?" A passing villager invited him warmly.

The pork was sizzling on the grill. All the villagers in the whole village were gathered around the bonfire.

Kang Bai shook his head and walked past indifferently.

Everyone was used to Kang Bai's aloofness and took all his behaviors for granted.

On normal days, there was hardly such a lively atmosphere in Li City. The old master was enjoying it and recalled the memories of eating with his brothers in the past.

Putting aside his staid identity, he was just like a native villager and got along very well with these villagers.

"Where are you going again?"

Lu Luochen couldn't stay still for a few minutes and would take out his phone to check it. The weak signal made him restless. He was eager to leave this place immediately.

"Go and check on Sining," the old master whispered beside him and urged impatiently.

Since he couldn't return to Li City, Lu Luochen blamed Wen Sining for everything. Disgruntled, he stood up from the chair and walked towards the room where Wen Sining was. But he suddenly changed his direction.

The bonfire didn't end until midnight. The old master was invited by the enthusiastic villagers to rest at their homes. The simple - minded villagers made him let down his guard, and he amiably entered a villager's house.

Throughout the whole night, Lu Luochen sat on the hillside, trying to connect with Yun Chutong in Li City with the intermittent signal.

The messages were received intermittently. Yun Chutong simply knew that Lu Luochen and Wen Sining were in Lin City.

In the middle of the night, Yun Chutong contacted her agent.

The next morning.

The old master liked the air in the village. Moreover, because Wen Sining's foot injury was serious, he temporarily decided to stay in Lin City and leave until Wen Sining's foot got better.

When Lu Luochen learned that the old master was going to stay longer, he opposed the decision and planned to leave first.

"Luochen, don't go against the old master," Uncle Bai pulled Lu Luochen's arm.

The chickens in the coop outside the house were making a lot of noise. Inside the house, it was just as noisy.

The old master slapped the table and shouted angrily, "Let him go!"

Lu Luochen was determined to leave. After the quarrel, his determination became even stronger.

He broke free from Uncle Bai's holding arm. Like a fierce wind, he swaggered into the courtyard.

The villager who had accommodated them just came back from the fields. He put down the hoe in his hand and greeted them friendly, "Did you sleep well?"

Lu Luochen seemed not to hear and quickly walked past coldly.

The villager scratched his head and watched his angry back. "Do people from the city get angry in the morning?"

Thinking about it, he didn't have the time to care about these things.

The old master was so angry that his stomach hurt. He covered his abdomen and staggered to sit on the chair.

"Master, drink some water. I'll go and call Doctor Kang to check on you."

"No need."

The old master took a sip of water to calm his anger and waved his hand weakly.

Walking to the village entrance, Lu Luochen stood under the big tree there. It was easy to leave, but it would be hard to bear the consequences.

The driver was still in the village, and the limousine they came in was parked in front of the tree.

Lu Luochen took out his phone. It only had 10% of the battery left and might not even last through the morning.

After getting along with the villagers last night, they had regarded the old master as an honored guest. During breakfast time, representatives from each family came to the house where the old master was staying with food.

In a short while, several tables were filled with food.

"You're really too kind," the old master said.

"It's our duty. You've come all the way here. How can we not treat you well?" the villagers said and brought out some expensive food that they themselves were reluctant to eat.

At first, they just came to deliver some food, but then more and more people came, so it turned into a big breakfast for everyone.

Wen Sining's foot was inconvenient, so Lu Luochen brought her breakfast.

After thinking for a while at the village entrance, Lu Luochen didn't leave.

Bang! The bottom of the bowl was heavily placed on the table. Lu Luochen stood in front of Wen Sining with a straight face.

Groggily, Wen Sining opened her eyes. Her foot had been hurting all night, and she had just fallen asleep when it was almost dawn.

She squinted and took a rough look, then silently turned her head to the other side.

"Get up and eat," Lu Luochen said as his toe landed heavily on the floor.

The loud noise completely drove away Wen Sining's drowsiness.

"What do you want?"

Wen Sining at this moment was like a lion just waking up in the early morning. With her messy hair, she glared at Lu Luochen fiercely.

The angrier she was, the colder Lu Luochen became.

"Are you going to keep dawdling? Do you want me to feed you?" Lu Luochen said casually. It seemed like a joke, but actually it was a sarcasm.

Feed her?

Wen Sining tilted her head and sneered, "If you have such a strange hobby, I'm not willing to cooperate."

After saying that, Wen Sining lay back on the bed, grabbed the quilt and covered her head.

Suddenly, a strong gust of wind blew, and the quilt on her body was thrown to the ground.

"Are you crazy!" Wen Sining shouted angrily.

She just wanted to have a good nap, but Lu Luochen was just making trouble beside her for no reason.

"Sining?" The old master's voice came from the door.

After all this, Wen Sining was completely awake.

"Grandpa, I'm here," she replied brightly.

The old master walked in. He was surprised to see Lu Luochen in the room. The reproachful words were on the tip of his tongue, but then his eyes fell on the still - steaming breakfast on the table.

Was this brat finally enlightened? The old master mumbled in his heart and casually found an excuse, "It's okay. We're not in a hurry to go back today. Since you're awake, have some breakfast and rest well to recover from your injury. Don't worry about other things."

Wen Sining nodded and watched the old master leave the room.

She thought that such a proud person would never bring her breakfast and keep urging her to eat. It turned out that he was forced.

A little devil in a black cloak, holding a knife and a gun, slowly emerged in her heart.

"I'm hungry," Wen Sining sat on the edge of the bed, like a baby waiting to be fed.
