Wen Sining nodded.
Lu Luochen beside her picked up her cue. "We're already married."
"Married already? You two look like fresh graduates to me."
In response, Wen Sining offered a polite smile. She picked out nine cappuccino roses and six snowflake spray roses, then asked the shopkeeper to wrap them up.
After the flowers were wrapped, Wen Sining held them in her arms while Lu Luochen paid. Then they walked out of the flower shop.
"Are you hungry?" Lu Luochen asked.
Wen Sining nodded. "Is there a snack street around here?" She looked up at Lu Luochen.
"There is," Lu Luochen said after a moment's thought.
The two made their way to the snack town. Wen Sining put the flowers in the car. Her memories of the snack town dated back to her college days.
She and Lu Luochen walked in side by side. "Have you ever been to a place like this before?" she asked, looking up at him. She asked because Lu Luochen didn't seem like the type to come to such places. She always thought someone of his status would only attend high - end events.
"I came here with my roommates in college and then went abroad." Everyone had memories of the snack town from their college days.
Wen Sining nodded. She walked towards a small stall, with Lu Luochen following behind. "Do you want to eat osmanthus cake?"
Wen Sining hummed in agreement. She had checked online before coming and knew that osmanthus cake was a specialty here.
"Boss, give me a serving," Lu Luochen said to the vendor.
"Sure thing."
Soon, a steaming serving of osmanthus cake was in Wen Sining's hands. She stabbed a piece with a toothpick and took a bite. The scent of osmanthus spread in her mouth. It was soft, sweet, and tasted really good.
Wen Sining didn't usually like sweet foods, but she had no resistance to sticky, glutinous ones.
Wen Sining ate as she walked. "Do you want to try?" she said, then stabbed a piece and held it up to Lu Luochen's mouth.
Lu Luochen was about to decline, but seeing the expectation in Wen Sining's eyes, he opened his mouth and took a bite.
"How is it? Tasty, right?"
"Delicious."
As Wen Sining was eating, she saw the sign of a stall. "What's a banana flying pancake?" It was the first time she'd heard of such a name.
"Do you want to try?" Lu Luochen asked, seeing her curious look.
"Yes."
Lu Luochen strode forward to buy a serving and handed it to Wen Sining. "Try it." Then he took the unfinished osmanthus cake from her.
Wen Sining picked it up with her hand and took a bite. It did taste good, just like its name, with a hint of banana.
"How is it? Do you like it?"
"It's okay." She didn't dislike the taste, but since it was her first time trying it, she couldn't say she loved it.
They had only walked a few steps when Wen Sining saw an old man selling candied haws. The last time she ate candied haws was when she was with her parents. Now, things had changed.
Before she knew it, she had walked closer. The old man selling candied haws looked at her. "Miss, do you want a bunch?"
Wen Sining nodded. She picked and finally chose a bunch with plump hawthorns. Lu Luochen was about to pay, but Wen Sining beat him to it. Her action annoyed Lu Luochen.
"Why are you paying?"
Wen Sining had just bitten into a hawthorn. Hearing his words, she replied indistinctly, "It's the same whether you pay or I do."
This made Lu Luochen even more annoyed. He thought Wen Sining didn't want to spend his money. To prevent this from happening again, he simply took her phone out of her pocket and put it in his own.
"What are you doing with my phone?" Wen Sining swallowed the hawthorn and was confused by his action.
"Nothing. I'll hold it for you."
Wen Sining didn't think much of it. The hawthorns were sweet and sour. Although the syrup on the outside was a bit sticky, she still liked it. She took another bite and remembered Lu Luochen. She waved the candied haws in front of him, using her eyes to ask if he wanted a bite.
Lu Luochen, however, was looking at her lips. He bent down and took half of the hawthorn in her mouth, chewed it, and finally commented, "It's quite sweet."
Only then did Wen Sining react. She glared at Lu Luochen, mostly out of shyness, considering there were so many people around.
"I won't let you eat anymore." She pulled her hand back.
"Are you angry?" Lu Luochen found it funny.
"Not at all."
Just like that, the two walked from one end of the snack town to the other, sampling almost all the snacks. Then they drove back.
It was already two o'clock when they reached the villa.
Wen Sining got out of the car with the flowers in her arms. As she walked in, Grandpa Lu happened to come out of the house and saw this scene.
"Grandpa," Wen Sining called sweetly.
He looked at the flowers in Wen Sining's arms, then at Lu Luochen behind her, and couldn't help asking, "Ningning, did he buy these flowers for you?"
Wen Sining nodded.
Grandpa Lu immediately beamed. His grandson had finally woken up. It seemed he should give the two young people more space.
"Good."
Walking behind, Lu Luochen suddenly noticed that Wen Sining had a rash on the back of her neck. His brows furrowed, and he took a few steps to reach her side. "You have a rash on the back of your neck."
Hearing this, Wen Sining let out a soft cry of surprise.
Lu Luochen walked to her side and rolled up the sleeve of her coat. Her once fair arms were now covered in a dense rash.
"Are you allergic to something?"
Wen Sining looked at her arms and shook her head. She didn't know what was going on, but the rash was itchy, and she tried hard not to scratch.
"Luochen, take Wen Sining back to the room first. I'll call the family doctor," Grandpa Lu said.
"Okay," Lu Luochen replied.
Just then, Qingtang came over. Lu Luochen handed the flowers in Wen Sining's arms to her. "You hold these for now."
Qingtang also noticed the rash on Wen Sining's exposed skin. "Grandma - in - law, what's wrong with you?"
Wen Sining shook her head, indicating that she didn't know either.
"Grandpa has gone to call the family doctor," Lu Luochen said. Then he took Wen Sining back to the room.
The coat she was wearing had already been hung on the hanger by Lu Luochen. They didn't know when the rash had appeared. It was hard to tell under the winter clothes.
"It's itchy," she said pitifully to Lu Luochen.
"Don't scratch. The doctor will be here soon." If she scratched it now, there would surely be scars after it healed.
Grandpa Lu rushed in with the family doctor.
As soon as the doctor saw the red dots on Wen Sining's body, he said, "The young mistress must be having an allergic reaction."
Hearing it was an allergy, the two of them finally relaxed. As long as it wasn't something else, that was good.
"What's the source of the allergy?" Lu Luochen asked. If they couldn't find it this time, this situation might happen again.
