Chapter 19: A Chaotic Scene

Puckering her lips, Cheng Xiran said, "Sister, what are you talking about? The Feiyu Villa is not someone we can afford to offend. They're wealthy. If you think you can handle it, sister will stop." Cheng Xiran retorted calmly.

Cheng Zhiyue was so angry that she stamped her feet. This bitch used to be a complete idiot. Why has she suddenly changed and become so sharp - tongued?

Naturally, Liu Shi wouldn't let Cheng Xiran have her way. She stared at Cheng Xiran coldly. "Since the eldest miss wants to continue running the newspaper, the Prime Minister's Mansion won't be able to support you financially. Running the newspaper is your own business and has nothing to do with the mansion."

Cheng Xiran tightened her fists slightly and stared at Liu Shi coldly. "Since when has the decision - making in the Prime Minister's Mansion been up to you, step - mother?"

"You..."

"What about me? Am I wrong? Grandmother is still here. When did it become your turn to throw your weight around?" Cheng Xiran's words made Liu Shi's face turn alternately pale and green. She knew she had overstepped. Bowing her head, she didn't dare to say a word. She tugged at Lord Cheng's sleeve. Lord Cheng scolded angrily, "You unfilial child! She's still your mother. How can you be so disrespectful?"

But Cheng Xiran laughed. "Mother? I'm not that lucky."

"You unfilial child! You're becoming more and more outrageous." Saying that, he raised his hand to hit Cheng Xiran, but the old lady quickly pulled Cheng Xiran behind her.

"Enough! It's early in the morning and you're already causing such a ruckus. If you want to hit someone, hit this old woman. Am I getting on your nerves?" The old lady's angry shout stopped Lord Cheng's action.

Lord Cheng put his hand down helplessly and said coldly, "If you don't stop The Capital Gossips, you won't get a single cent from the mansion in the future."

Cheng Xiran pouted. Not getting the money was no big deal. With Xue Lian and that fortune, would she still be short of money?

The old lady was worried. If Cheng Xiran had no money, as the legitimate daughter of the family, she would surely be laughed at. After all, there were many things that needed money.

She pulled Cheng Xiran's hand and said earnestly, "Xiran, why don't you just stop it? It'll be better for you. It's really not proper for a girl to be so public - facing all the time."

Cheng Xiran knew the old lady loved her. She patted the old lady's hand reassuringly. "Grandmother, don't worry. I'll be fine. Since Father has said so, I naturally dare not disobey, or some people will say I'm unfilial. I can't bear such a big accusation."

Hearing Cheng Xiran's words, Cheng Zhiyue pretended to be wronged and looked at Lord Cheng. "Sister must have some misunderstanding about me. I'm also thinking about sister and the Prime Minister's Mansion!"

Lord Cheng looked at Cheng Zhiyue kindly, presenting a good - looking picture of a kind father and a filial daughter. This green - tea bitch would surely be a master at manipulation in modern times.

Lord Cheng glared at Cheng Xiran angrily. "When will you be as worry - free as Zhiyue? Then I can live a few more years."

Cheng Zhiyue was overjoyed after being praised by Lord Cheng. She gave Cheng Xiran a provocative look with her charming eyes. Cheng Xiran couldn't help but put her hand on her forehead. "I'm afraid I'll disappoint Father. I'm afraid I'll never have sister's talent in this lifetime."

Cheng Zhiyue thought Cheng Xiran was praising her, but the more she thought about it, the more something seemed off, though she couldn't tell what was wrong.

Lord Cheng was so angry with Cheng Xiran that he threw down his chopsticks and got up to go to court. Cheng Xiran touched her nose innocently. She was just telling the truth.

Seeing everyone leave, Cheng Xiran simply tidied up and headed to the newspaper office with today's manuscript.
