chapter 109 Grandmother's Care

"Miss, hurry back to your room and take a wash?"

After the mud dried, it caked on her body. She felt extremely uncomfortable but endured it all the way back to her own room. She took two or three baths in a row before she finally felt that her body was clean.

After the bath, Yun'er served breakfast and the tremella soup she had stewed herself. "Miss, have some. It'll help replenish your strength. Do you feel any soreness all over? I'll get some plasters later to rub on you."

Actually, she had never let Yun'er do much work because Yun'er was quite young when she was assigned to her room. Unexpectedly, she was a very meticulous person. She had underestimated her.

"I'm fine. I just feel a bit achy all over. It's nothing serious..." Cheng Xiran took a sip of the tremella soup. Finding it delicious, she added, "Prepare a bowl for Zhuque. I remember she likes it too."

Yun'er took the order and left. Cheng Xiran had her breakfast in peace. After that, she went to the backyard to check the place where she had fallen. It was originally a grassy area, but the grass on the side against the wall had been completely pulled out and filled with mud. Apparently, someone had done it deliberately.

As for the kitchen, the maid said they hadn't locked the door at all last night. They had no idea who did it.

But who else could it be?

After wandering around for a while, she learned from the butler that Liu and Cheng Zhiyue were not at home today.

"They said they went to the temple to pray."

It was ironic that the villains went to the temple to offer incense to the Buddha. Surely the Buddha wouldn't bless them!

Anyway, she was glad to have some peace. After much thought, she decided to take a nap first.

She slept until lunchtime. Only she and the old lady were at home, so she enjoyed her meal.

"I think very highly of Zhiyue and that young man from the Gu family. What do you think, Xiran?"

"Since grandmother thinks well of them, they must be good." There was no special expression on Cheng Xiran's face.

But the old lady looked at her worriedly. "Xiran, why do I feel that you seem to have something on your mind? Is there anything wrong?"

Cheng Xiran got up to scoop a bowl of soup for her and shook her head slightly. "Grandmother, you're over - worrying. I'm fine."

"Do you have someone you like? Or I have a few suitable candidates here. How about you go and meet them? If you meet someone you like, just tell me. I'll surely make the decision for you."

The old lady was full of kindness. Cheng Xiran pouted her pink lips and said in a soft voice, "Grandmother, do you not like Xiran anymore? Xiran just wants to stay by grandmother's side. I don't want to get married so early."

"Silly girl, leaving home earlier will do you good..." The old lady paused. Realizing she had said too much, she quickly stopped.

Cheng Xiran understood what she meant. The old lady was thinking about her and didn't want her to get involved in the power struggle. Moreover, there was obviously tension between her father and Helian Duo recently, and she had been getting close to Helian Duo. It was not a good thing.

It would be better to get married early. Once she became someone else's wife, the affairs of the Cheng family would have nothing to do with her.

She understood the old lady's good intentions, but she knew very well that after she signed the agreement with Helian Duo, she was destined to get involved in this mess.

She wasn't afraid, but her grandmother was the first to be worried.

"Grandmother, please don't worry. You can look for someone for me. I'll meet whoever you want me to meet."

The old lady thought she had become more open - minded and immediately gave her an approving look.
