Chapter 35: A Five - Second Snore Rings Out

"Hey, Brother Chi, you're awake." He Suyan was the first to notice Chi Xu walking towards them. With a startled cry, everyone turned to look at him.

The person reflected in their pupils was as good - looking as ever. With a straight posture and picturesque features, Jiang Yuan tilted her head and watched him walk towards her, finally stopping beside her.

"Why are you awake?" she asked nonchalantly, but her eyes began to dodge, flitting from left to right.

She wondered if Chi Xu had heard what she said. He probably hadn't. If he had, he wouldn't have reacted like this. He was asleep, wasn't he? When one was asleep, they knew nothing, let alone the fact that she had poked his face.

Chi Xu put his hands in his pockets, tilted his head back to look at the brilliant meteor shower in the sky. His voice drifted through the night, carrying a hint of coolness.

"Jia Fang was too rough. He woke me up."

Jia Fang, who was named, was like "?"

"Hey, it wasn't me..." Jia Fang jumped out to defend himself. But as soon as he opened his mouth, he met Chi Xu's cold and penetrating gaze. He swallowed the words that were on the tip of his tongue. "It seems that my movements were a bit too heavy."

"Since everyone is here, why don't we take a group photo to commemorate this?" Yu Huan picked up the boys' camera and asked with a smile.

"How can we let you, the junior sister, do it? Put it down, put it down. I'll do it." Jiang Kuo took the camera. The other seven people stood under the meteors. He placed it on a relatively high platform, set the timer, and then quickly ran over to stand in position.

With a "click", the photo was taken.

Everyone passed the photo around. After looking at the group photo, Jia Fang shouted and pointed at Jiang Yuan in the photo. "Brother Chi, you're really sneaky. You deliberately stood behind the junior sister and made a 'V' sign with your fingers over her head."

Huh? Jiang Yuan curiously took the photo to look. The boy behind her was smiling with his lips curved. His restless hands had secretly reached up to the top of her head, making a 'V' sign with each hand.

It was as if a pair of rabbit ears had grown out of her head out of nowhere.

She pursed her lips and smiled secretly. Out of the corner of her eye, she glanced at Chi Xu, who had made the 'V' sign. He hooked his lips and retorted to Jia Fang in a flippant manner. "I did it. Do you have any objections?"

Jia Fang shrank his neck and quickly waved his hands, saying he had no objections.

The group was joking and playing around on the mountain. The temperature at the mountaintop was already low, and the howling night wind was even colder.

The meteor shower was over. Everyone got into their tents to sleep, planning to wake up naturally the next day, pack up their things, and go down the mountain to return.

The next day, when everyone returned to school with sore backs and aching waists, a light drizzle began to fall. They went into their dormitories to report their safety. Then the rain got heavier, falling fast and hard.

It was probably the last rain before the Beginning of Winter.

The boys posted the photos they had taken along the way in the group chat. Jiang Yuan saved them one by one without much photo - editing and posted them on her Moments.

Her mother liked the post and sent a long voice message, asking how she was doing at school, whether the food in the cafeteria was delicious, and how she got along with her classmates.

Jiang Yuan replied one by one.

When she exited WeChat, she caught a glimpse of Chi Xu's avatar. After thinking for a while, she still sent him a message.

[Wishes Will Surely Come True: Chi Xu, I'm so sore all over now. I can't believe how much it will hurt when I wake up tomorrow. Poor.jpg]

Unexpectedly, Chi Xu directly sent a voice message, changing his usual habit of sending text messages.

Jiang Yuan took out her Bluetooth earphones, put them on, and clicked to listen.

He was talking about the precautions for relieving pain.

Probably because he had just come down the mountain and taken a bus for more than an hour, the boy's tone was lazy, his voice slightly hoarse, and his words carried a hint of tiredness.

Jiang Yuan lay on the bed hugging a pillow. Her legs were not covered by the quilt but were swinging up and down. Her eyes were curved with a smile.

It seemed that listening to it once was not enough. Jiang Yuan clicked to listen again. The smile on the corner of her mouth could not be hidden no matter what.

Suddenly, a bolt of lightning flashed across the sky. The dormitory suddenly lit up, followed by a deafening thunderclap. Big raindrops pounded on the window of the washroom.

Jiang Yuan was startled.

Lin Suye on the opposite bed murmured, "This rain came so suddenly. Fortunately, we came back early, or we would have been soaked to the skin."

[Wishes Will Surely Come True: Did you see just now? The rain is so heavy. The thunder just now scared me!]

[forikyy: I saw it. Why are you starting to be afraid of thunder?]

The four words "How is that possible" were just typed and about to be sent when Jiang Yuan's little brain worked. She quickly deleted them and typed again.

[Wishes Will Surely Come True: Yes, I've been afraid of thunder since then. You don't know how scary it is.]

The message was sent successfully.

On Chi Xu's side, he remembered that rainy afternoon three years ago when he left. It was pouring rain, with lightning flashing and thunder rumbling, almost the same as now.

He turned his head to look at the curtain - like heavy rain. His fingertips went slightly numb. Did Yuan Yuan start to be afraid of thunder and lightning from that day on?

An indescribable emotion flashed across his eyes. He pursed his lips and was about to ask if she wanted to have a voice call when she was faster.

[Wishes Will Surely Come True: The thunder is so scary, Chi Xu. Can you accompany me on a voice call and talk to me? Cute.jpg]

Chi Xu let out a哑然 laugh and took out his earphones to make a call.

Jiang Yuan answered quickly. Her voice was clear as she asked if he could hear her. Chi Xu gave a soft "hmm".

"The rain is so heavy. I wonder how Jiao Jiao is. Will it get wet?" Jiang Yuan just said whatever came to her mind. More than half a month had passed since she first saw Jiao Jiao, but Jiao Jiao seemed to have vanished into thin air and she hadn't seen it again.

Chi Xu paused. When he heard the name "Jiao Jiao", he almost thought she was talking about himself. The words on the tip of his tongue were swallowed and then re - uttered.

"I've looked for it. I didn't see Jiao Jiao. It either ran out of the school or is being raised in the school staff dormitory and has never come out."

"I'd rather it live in the staff dormitory. It's better than being cold, frozen, or hungry outside. How can such a clean little kitten live a wandering life!"

Jiang Yuan pounded the bed heavily and said angrily.

"You're Chi Jiao Jiao, and it's also Jiao Jiao. Why is there such a big difference!"

Huh?

Hearing this, Chi Xu sensed something was wrong. Did Jiang Yuan treat him like a cat?

He shook his head with a smile. On the other end, Jiang Yuan kept chattering. Sometimes she told cold jokes to make him laugh, and sometimes she complained about this or that in the school. Her words were numerous and dense.

Chi Xu never knew that Jiang Yuan could talk so much on a voice call. It was like all the cotton stuffed in a doll suddenly fell out.

Until the rain gradually subsided, Jiang Yuan's voice also became smaller and smaller, and finally there was no sound.

The thick night air was filled with moisture.

Jiang Yuan didn't wake up until it was late in the morning. She rubbed her sleepy eyes and found that her phone was out of power and had shut down. She picked up the charger to charge it.

When the phone restarted and she opened WeChat, there was an unread voice message.

She clicked to play it.

A five - second snore rang out.
