Chapter 10

Xiaoli turned her head and found Tang Tang lying on the desk in a daze. Her face was turned towards the window, seemingly looking at the scenery, but her eyes didn't move a bit.

"Hey, why have you been in a daze so often lately?" Xiaoli reached out and nudged the absent - minded Tang Tang, pulling her back from her thoughts to reality.

Tang Tang was still a bit dazed when she heard the noisy commotion outside the classroom. Although it was break time, it shouldn't be this chaotic.

Xiaoli didn't think much of it. "I bet some students from a class are fighting again. It's so boring fighting all day long."

Before long, Tang Tang spotted a familiar face.

It was Chief Li, the uncle she met at the police station that day.

Could there be some new progress in Wang Lin's case?

Xiaoli saw Tang Tang stand up and walk out of the classroom. Muttering a few words, she followed. "You like watching the fun so much? I'm telling you, you can't go when there's a fight. You might get accidentally hurt."

Tang Tang rolled her eyes at her and pointed to the policemen in front. "Can't you see what they're wearing? Do you think policemen go fighting?"

Xiaoli looked up and saw that there were quite a number of policemen, seemingly in a hurry to go somewhere. Suddenly, she recalled the prank in the toilet last time. She nervously tugged at Tang Tang's hand. "Maybe we should go back. I have a bad feeling..."

Seeing Xiaoli's pale face, Tang Tang didn't force her. But she always had a hunch that Chief Li's visit this time must be related to Wang Lin's case.

Thinking of that cheerful girl, Tang Tang decided to go and check it out herself.

"You can wait for me in the classroom. I'll go and have a look." Tang Tang comforted Xiaoli. Just as she was about to let go of Xiaoli's hand, it was grabbed again.

Although Xiaoli was a bit scared, thinking of Tang Tang's more extreme reaction that day, she was still worried about her going alone. "I'll go with you, but let's just take a look from the side. Don't get too close..."

The two of them followed the policemen step by step. The more they walked, the more familiar it felt.

"Tang Tang, isn't this the toilet where we had that prank last time?"

They saw a policeman go into the toilet with a small black bag. When he came out, there was an obvious bulge in the bag. It must have been filled with something.

Could they have found some new evidence?

Tang Tang was deep in thought when someone tapped her on the shoulder. "Hey, Tang Tang, why aren't you in class and here instead?"

Shen Hao had been organizing the on - site order. He didn't expect to turn around and see two little girls huddling behind a pillar, trying to be as invisible as possible. When he walked over, he was surprised to find they were acquaintances.

Tang Tang felt a bit embarrassed. It was like being caught at the start of a game of hide - and - seek.

But she did have some impression of this Police Officer Shen.

"Hello, Police Officer Shen." Since they had met a few times, Tang Tang greeted him obediently.

Shen Hao nodded and then asked, "What are you two little girls doing here? If I'm not mistaken, it should be class time now."

Xiaoli tugged at Tang Tang's corner of the clothes. The two immediately understood each other and said in unison, "We just happened to come to the toilet. We didn't expect there to be so many policemen here, so we're just taking a look."

Shen Hao didn't believe these two little girls' made - up lies at all. Especially after they spoke, they didn't even dare to look him in the eye. After studying at the police academy for so many years, if he couldn't tell this, he would be useless.

"Don't give me these excuses. If you tell the truth, I might consider telling you some secrets." Shen Hao said mysteriously, throwing out a bait.

Sure enough, the girl beside Tang Tang's expression wavered a bit. She was about to speak when Tang Tang gave her a fierce glare.

Tang Tang remembered that this Police Officer Shen knew Zuo Mu. If Zuo Mu knew that she skipped class to watch the fun, she didn't know how long he would scold her.

He was just like a father. He never showed any mercy when scolding people.

She didn't want to listen to his nagging.

Shen Hao witnessed all of Tang Tang's rich facial expressions. He could easily guess what the little girl was thinking. He slowly said, "Don't worry, I won't tell your brother. I don't like to be a snitch."

The words of a policeman were somewhat believable. Coupled with Tang Tang's curiosity, she spoke up. "Police Officer Shen, is there any new progress in Wang Lin's case? If it's convenient, could you tell me?"

Shen Hao hesitated for a moment and then refused the request. "Tang Tang, you should know that policemen don't just leak secrets. Although you were good friends with Wang Lin, you don't have that privilege."

Tang Tang didn't have high hopes anyway, but she was still curious about what they had found in the toilet.

After all, that toilet... always gave Tang Tang a bad feeling.

"Police Officer Shen, can I take a look at what you found in the toilet? Is it related to Wang Lin?"

Shen Hao knew that this little girl was probably still blaming herself for Wang Lin's death, insisting that she had something to do with it. He smiled, rubbed Tang Tang's head, and said, "I don't think you'd want to see it. It's not a good thing... Also, Wang Lin's death has nothing to do with you. It was the bad guys who did it. No matter what happened during the process, Wang Lin's death was only the fault of those bad guys."

In the end, she still didn't get to know what was in the black bag. After saying goodbye to Shen Hao, Tang Tang and Xiaoli went back to the classroom. Of course, they got scolded.

But Tang Tang didn't care much about the teacher's scolding. As long as the teacher didn't say anything about notifying the parents, she didn't really care.

Sure enough, as soon as she left the school gate, she saw Zuo Mu leaning against a pillar, with a cigarette in his mouth.

"Tsk, smoking at the school gate. Aren't you afraid of setting a bad example for the kids?"

Tang Tang habitually reached out and took the cigarette from Zuo Mu's fingers, threw it on the ground, and stamped it out with a few kicks. Then she took out a fruit candy from her pocket.

"I don't like talking to people with a smoky mouth."

Zuo Mu laughed. He took the fruit candy and stuffed it into his mouth. Then he stuffed the candy wrapper into Tang Tang's pocket and casually picked up her schoolbag and put it on his back.

"How childish!" Tang Tang shouted loudly.

Tang Tang preferred a neutral style. Unlike other girls of her age who liked pink schoolbags with bows, in Tang Tang's view, apart from the size being a bit out of place, Zuo Mu looked okay carrying her schoolbag.

Just by looking, Tang Tang could tell that Zuo Mu was in a bad mood today.

Although his personality wasn't exactly cheerful, he always tried to find something to say when he was with her or tried to tease her. Today, the two of them walked in silence for almost five minutes without saying a single word.
