Before the head nurse could say anything, the call on the other end was directly hung up.
The head nurse stared at the disconnected phone, nearly fainting from frustration.
She held the phone in her hand with a sorrowful look on her face and didn't say a word for a long while.
Tang Tang looked at the head nurse compassionately. Just as she was about to say something, Zuo Mu, who was standing beside her, reached out and squeezed her fingers.
Tang Tang immediately swallowed the words on the tip of her tongue. She looked up at Zuo Mu and saw him shaking his head slightly.
For a moment, there was complete silence on the second floor of the hospital. Only the soft sobs of the head nurse could be heard.
"No, I have to call him..."
After crying for a while, the head nurse suddenly perked up and was about to call back.
Zuo Mu glanced at the phone interface the head nurse had pulled up. It was full of random numbers.
It was obvious that the call wouldn't go through.
Sure enough, as soon as the head nurse dialed the number, she heard a cold female voice.
"Hello, the number you dialed is incorrect."
The head nurse clutched the phone desperately. "Why? What's going on? Why can't I get through?"
The young nurses around didn't know how to console her. They could only watch as the head nurse dialed the number back and forth. "Maybe I got a digit wrong. I'll correct it."
As she was about to change a digit at the end, a slender hand stopped her.
Zuo Mu reached out and pulled the head nurse's hand, halting her subsequent actions. "Don't be in such a hurry."
"How can I not be in a hurry..."
The head nurse seemed like a punctured balloon, easily deflated.
After hearing Zuo Mu's persuasion, she knelt directly on the ground. "My son. He's only four years old. He's only four..."
Zuo Mu just gave the head nurse a calm look and then let go of her hand.
The only sound in the entire hall was the head nurse's crying.
Tang Tang frowned and said softly, "Don't be in a hurry. The most urgent thing now is to sort things out."
After crying for a long time, the head nurse tremblingly tried to get up. "I'll call the police. Call the police... No, I can't call the police. What if they find out..."
Just as she was about to pick up her phone, she put it down again. She looked exactly like a person with schizophrenia.
Tang Tang was about to say something more to persuade her when she heard footsteps coming from downstairs and stopped speaking.
Several people turned their heads and saw Chief Li coming up from downstairs in plain clothes. He was still holding a phone in his hand, apparently giving instructions to someone.
Tang Tang looked at Zuo Mu in surprise. Zuo Mu pulled her finger.
Tang Tang immediately understood that Chief Li had been called by Brother Zuo Mu. Looking at the few people who hadn't reacted yet, she leaned over to Zuo Mu and whispered, "When did you call him?"
Zuo Mu looked down at Tang Tang and curved his eyes slightly. "While you were sleeping."
Tang Tang opened her mouth. While she was sleeping meant when they were in the car.
It was obvious that Zuo Mu had anticipated that Shen Tian would call again.
Right. Shen Tian might very well be coming for her.
Tang Tang frowned. Several children she had come into contact with had all had accidents. This made her couldn't help but think more.
"Have you found anything?"
Zuo Mu glanced at Chief Li. Chief Li shook his head imperceptibly and pointed at his phone. "He hung up too quickly. Just missed by a second."
Zuo Mu didn't expect to be able to track down Shen Tian's whereabouts right away. He nodded understandingly and then said, "Have you sent people to make arrangements?"
Just as Chief Li was about to answer, they heard a tinkling sound. It was the head nurse's phone. Several people looked over and saw it was a text message.
The head nurse opened it.
"If you don't want your son to come, it's okay to replace him with someone else."
