Chapter 35 Trading with Silver Coins

The celestial crane led them to meet Chongming in Henan Prefecture.

As soon as they landed, Yaohua dashed over quickly.

"Master! Master!" She grabbed Chongming's sleeve. "Master, why didn't you wait for us?"

A cold and fragrant aroma assailed her nostrils. Yaohua took a deep breath, feeling content.

Chongming lovingly adjusted the hairpin on top of her head. "I happened to be dealing with official business here, so I decided to wait for you all here." He nodded slightly at Mo Qing. "Well then, follow me."

Behind Chongming was an official road about three feet wide. This was the only way to Henan Prefecture, and at the end of the road was the city gate of Henan Prefecture.

In front of the solemn and majestic city gate, two soldiers in armor stood upright on guard. They were burly and their eyes were sharp, completely different from those sallow - faced and emaciated people Yaohua had seen before.

"Where are you from?"

As soon as they saw Yaohua and the others, the two soldiers immediately crossed their spears to block the entrance.

"From Hebei Prefecture." Chongming's tone was gentle. He took out some official documents from somewhere to prove the identities of the three of them.

After a careful inspection, the three were allowed to enter.

As soon as she entered, Yaohua couldn't help but exclaim, "Master, you're so amazing!"

She had never thought that one needed official documents to come here. Even her sixth elder brother didn't know this.

Chongming raised his finger and gently flicked her forehead. "When experiencing the mortal world, you should act as a mortal, not as a god."

So that's how it was. Yaohua quickly took out her notebook and wrote it down.

People were coming and going around, and carriages and horses were in a continuous stream. The cries of peddlers rose and fell one after another. Yaohua found it all very novel. She wanted to go and take a look, but then she remembered the lesson from last time and immediately tightened her grip on Chongming's hand.

Chongming gently pushed her. "If you want to go, then go."

"Are the people here also living corpses?" Yaohua wasn't really afraid of living corpses, but she didn't want to attract any ill - intentioned things like last time.

Chongming stroked her head but didn't answer this question.

Yaohua understood.

Giving a man a fish feeds him for a day; teaching him how to fish feeds him for a lifetime. Master wanted her to distinguish for herself.

Mo Qing stood on one side. Seeing that Chongming didn't say anything, he was just about to tell Yaohua that those weren't living corpses, but unexpectedly, he couldn't speak when he opened his mouth.

The Supreme God Chongming cast a casual glance at him, and Mo Qing had to shut up sensibly.

In the end, Yaohua couldn't resist the temptation of those small trinkets.

She was the little princess of the Phoenix Clan. She had been pampered since childhood and hadn't suffered much even during the Great Calamity of the End of the World. But she had rarely seen the hustle and bustle of the mortal world. This lively scene was the first time she had seen it.

Yaohua skipped over to a stall selling dough figurines and stared at the colorful dough figurines intently.

"Little girl, if you like them, take a look." The stall owner was a kind - looking old man. He kneaded and rolled the dough in his hands, and then casually pinched a few times, and a cute little head was made.

Yaohua widened her eyes. So this was how dough figurines were made!

This was so amazing!

"Grandpa, can I play with your dough?" She was itching to try it herself.

"Of course you can." The old man pinched off a lump of dough and gave it to her.

What should she make first? Right, make a figurine of Master first!

Yaohua imitated the old man's movements and tried to make Chongming's head, but it was either too oval or too round. She just couldn't make it right.

She pouted and frowned from time to time. She looked so cute that Mo Qing couldn't help but laugh out loud. When she noticed, she glared at him.

Mo Qing pretended to be serious. "Sister, are you trying to make a steamed bun?"

Do you need to knead a steamed bun! Yaohua glared at him angrily. "I'm making a figurine of Master!"

Mo Qing burst out laughing. He wanted to continue teasing Yaohua, but was afraid of making her angry and ignoring him. So he covered his lips and coughed lightly. "Grandpa, make one of her, and then help her make one of... that person!"

He didn't dare to call out the name of the Supreme God Chongming, so he just pointed at Chongming with his finger.

The old man had been looking at Yaohua just now, so he quickly made a dough figurine that resembled Yaohua about seventy or eighty percent. Then he squinted at Chongming, quickly pinched off a lump of dough, and made it while looking. Soon, a lifelike young man in white was born in the old man's hands.

But...

Why didn't the face of this young man in white look like Master at all?

Yaohua held the dough figurine in her hand, not knowing what to do.

"Little young master, why don't you make one for yourself?"

The old man looked at Mo Qing. His kind - looking face made Mo Qing think of what his grandfather looked like before he passed away. Before he realized it, he had already nodded.

The siblings were satisfied with their dough figurines. Mo Qing couldn't help but sigh. "In the past, there used to be a night market in Henan Prefecture every night. The lights were dim and it was much more lively than this. It's a pity that we may not be able to see it now."

"This place is so prosperous. Maybe there's a night market at night too." Yaohua could hardly see any traces of the impact of the Great Calamity of the End of the World here.

Thinking that there might be more fun things in a more prosperous night market, Yaohua suddenly felt that the dough figurine in her hand wasn't so appealing anymore.

"Master! Master!" She ran over quickly, holding up the dough figurine in her hand. "Look, this dough figurine is me. Isn't it pretty?"

"Pretty."

It was indeed pretty. The cute little girl pouted, and her glaring eyes were vivid. The red hair ribbon, the pink dress, and the limbs that looked like they were made of lotus root. Just a glance was enough to make people unable to look away.

"Then I'll give it to Master!" Yaohua stood on tiptoe and stuffed it into his hand. "Master, since you've accepted my dough figurine, you have to agree to take me to the night market tonight."

Chongming was never an old - fashioned pedant. He had been looking at the dough figurine carefully. When he heard this, a hint of a smile flashed in his deep eyes. "Okay."

Master was really the best master in the world!

She was just about to say something nice to Master when her stomach suddenly growled.

"It's getting late. Why don't we find an inn to rest and have something to eat?" Mo Qing walked over. He also held a dough figurine in his hand, but different from Yaohua's and Chongming's, his face was covered by a mask.

Not far away, a wine flag fluttered in the wind. A waiter in short clothes was beaming with a smile. As soon as he saw them, his eyes immediately lit up. "Are you gentlemen here for a meal or to stay?"

A strong aroma of food wafted out from inside. Yaohua couldn't help but sniff.

Chongming turned his head slightly and then stepped inside.

"We need three guest rooms." Mo Qing told the waiter. "The best rooms."

"Sure thing, sir. You can rest assured. Our rooms are the best within a hundred miles."

"By the way, serve a table of good dishes too." Mo Qing shook his money bag and stuffed it into the waiter's hand.

By this time, Yaohua and Mo Qing had already taken their seats.

"This Henan Prefecture is really strange. No matter what kind of business it is, they still use silver coins for transactions."
