Chapter 298: The Fox Girl

Seeing that Yaohua couldn't succeed no matter what, the system grew a bit anxious. "Host, are you sure he truly loves you?"

Yaohua was combing her hair in front of the mirror, trying to look her most charming to captivate Chongming. Hearing this, she asked unhappily, "What do you mean by that?"

The system began to analyze. "If he truly loves you, why is he so indifferent to you? In my opinion, maybe he just can't bear to break your heart because of the master - disciple relationship, so he pretends to love you."

Yaohua slammed the comb on the table. "You're lying! If Master didn't love me, why would he agree to marry me?"

The system said speechlessly, "I'm just suggesting a possibility. If you don't believe me, that's fine. I must tell you, a man can't be completely unresponsive when facing a woman he loves."

In the side room, Chongming was sitting cross - legged in meditation, feeling rather troubled.

Due to Yaohua's recent abnormal behavior, the demonic energy in his body seemed to be growing stronger, on the verge of breaking through the sealing formation.

He had to reinforce the seal once again.

"Master!" Yaohua pushed the door open and entered, holding a bowl of celestial dew in her hand. "This is made from the morning dew I collected in the early dawn these days. It can clear the mind and nourish the spirit. Have a taste quickly."

She offered the celestial dew with anticipation.

Chongming was currently distracted by the demonic energy and feeling extremely annoyed. He subconsciously dodged and said, "No, I don't want to drink it."

Yaohua was stunned for a moment, feeling hurt.

Chongming frowned slightly, sighed, took the bowl of celestial dew, and drank it all in one gulp. "You can go out first."

Yaohua clenched her fists and walked out of the room in a fluster. The subconscious dodge that Chongming had just shown made her feel restless and irritable.

"Did I do something wrong?" she murmured to herself. "He clearly doesn't want to share a bed with me, but I'm so unreserved, trying to force myself on him. He must be really annoyed with me now."

The system retorted, "Host, always look on the bright side. Maybe he's not annoyed with you because of sharing a bed, but because he has feelings for someone else?"

Yaohua's face darkened. "Is this what you call looking on the bright side?"

The system's interruption made her even more restless and unhappy. She even wanted to rush in front of Chongming and get everything clear.

Inside the room, after Chongming finished his meditation, he watched Yaohua's lonely back through the window. He felt uncomfortable but didn't know how to explain himself.

At night, the moon was bright and the stars were sparse.

Yaohua grabbed Chongming who was about to leave. "Where are you going?"

"I'm going to sleep in the side room," Chongming explained.

Yaohua pursed her lips and forcefully pulled him into her room. "You said you wanted to be an ordinary couple with me, but which ordinary couple sleeps separately every day?"

"Then I'll sleep on the floor."

Before Chongming could finish his sentence, he saw Yaohua's eyes turn red. She looked like she had suffered a great injustice and was on the verge of crying.

He immediately softened his heart. "Okay, I'll sleep with you."

"That's more like it." Yaohua wiped away her tears and smiled through her tears.

Chongming stroked her head. "Let's make it clear first. You're not allowed to make any trouble at night."

The candle in the room was extinguished. The two of them lay on the couch fully dressed.

The system encouraged her, "This is the perfect time. Use the last move of the art of taming your husband!"

Before Yaohua could say anything, Chongming said first, "I still remember when I first took you as my disciple, you were just a little thing. Now... it's really the work of fate."

"Master, do you truly love me?" Yaohua asked.

Chongming's tone was gentle. "Of course. I don't know when it started, but your every move can tug at my heartstrings. When you're happy, I'm happy too; when you're sad, I'm sad... You'll always be the most important person in my heart."

He rarely said such sweet words. Yaohua gently leaned towards him.

Chongming's body stiffened slightly and he subconsciously dodged.

This gesture of evasion, as if she were a fierce beast, left Yaohua at a loss, but she felt more aggrieved and angry.

She hadn't done anything else; she just leaned a little closer. Didn't he even want that?

He said sweet words with his mouth, but his body was resistant and evasive. How could she trust his feelings?

Chongming seemed to realize his mistake and silently moved closer to her. He whispered, "I'm sorry."

He reached out his hand and pulled her into his arms.

Although Yaohua was in the arms of the man she loved, she didn't feel happy because she found that even in this situation, Chongming's body wasn't completely relaxed.

"It seems he doesn't really like to be in contact with you," the system clicked its tongue. "Based on my judgment, either there's something wrong with him in that aspect, or he simply doesn't love you."

Yaohua immediately retorted, "No, Master is just a late bloomer in matters of the heart!"

"Hehe, you said he's a late bloomer. Maybe he only has ordinary master - disciple feelings or family affection for you, not love at all," the system retorted rationally.

Chongming noticed the distraction of the person in his arms, and his gaze gradually became complicated.

Yaohua came back to her senses. When she looked up and met his gaze, she felt as if her heart had been seen through.

She remembered what the system had said again and couldn't help but prop herself up to kiss Chongming. As expected, she was rejected again.

Chongming's evasive action was too obvious. She couldn't convince herself not to mind. Holding back the bitterness in her heart, she asked, "Do you see me as a fierce beast? Is there some hidden reason?"

Chongming lowered his eyes and said nothing. The system incited her again, "A couple should tell each other everything. His behavior clearly shows that he doesn't regard you as his real wife. Host, don't be silly!"

This time, Yaohua didn't refute it.

The next morning, as soon as Yaohua opened her eyes, she heard the system sighing repeatedly. "Poor thing, you're really too pitiful."

"What are you doing?" Yaohua couldn't help but ask.

The system sighed, "Chongming has fallen out of love with you."

"What?" Yaohua thought it was joking and said unhappily, "How dare you joke about such a thing?"

The system defended itself, "I'm not joking. If you don't believe me, take a look!"

Yaohua got up and walked around the small courtyard.

The small courtyard was empty. There was no sign of Chongming. Although she trusted Chongming, she couldn't help but feel suspicious.

What on earth was Chongming doing sneaking out?

The system said, "Three hundred meters in the northeast direction, you'll see what Chongming is up to."

Yaohua did as it said.

In the green forest, Chongming was dressed in a blue robe, almost blending in with the forest.

Yaohua was just about to say hello when the system stopped her. She had to tiptoe and hide behind the bushes. Only then did she see clearly that there was another person in front of Chongming. No, to be precise, it was a demon.

It was a beautiful and lovely fox girl with two fox ears on her head and a big fluffy tail behind her.

She blushed and smiled shyly. Suddenly, she accidentally stumbled. Chongming supported her by the waist and helped her up.

It seemed that there was a sound - proof barrier between them. Yaohua couldn't hear what they were saying, but she felt her heart ache and wrinkle into a ball.
