Zui Tao broke open the remaining meatballs. There were white teeth in all of them. When she squeezed one open, a mass of glistening white teeth was revealed. Zui Tao was so frightened that she dropped it on the ground at once.
This really scared Liu Yushu.
But she still mustered up the courage to turn over the other dishes with chopsticks, but found nothing suspicious.
"Miss, this thing is so inauspicious. I'll clean it up right away and go to the kitchen myself to watch the cooks prepare your meal," Zui Tao said, looking panicked as she picked up the teeth on the ground.
Liu Yushu was still in shock. "Don't make a big deal out of this," she said. She was scared inside. Who had put such filthy and terrifying things in her food?
The first person she suspected was naturally Liu Yuyu. After all, she had had a conflict with Liu Yuyu last time.
But even if it was Liu Yuyu who had put these things in her food, where did Liu Yuyu find so many teeth?
Zui Tao looked at Liu Yushu uneasily and said, "Miss, I took a look at these teeth. They don't seem to be human teeth. They're probably animal teeth."
Liu Yushu breathed a sigh of relief after hearing this.
The little cat jumped onto her lap, wagging its tail and meowing at her. Its proud look seemed to be asking for her caress.
Liu Yushu stroked the cat's head. "Wu Qing, thanks to you just now," she said. There was a strange feeling in her heart. She always felt that this cat was extremely spiritual, as if it was guarding her invisibly and preventing those filthy things from getting close to her.
Thinking of this, she suddenly shivered and said anxiously, "Zui Tao, quickly check if the shrimp meat sent by Mu Chan is poisonous."
Zui Tao nodded, took out a silver needle and pricked the shrimp meat. Sure enough, the silver needle turned black. The shrimp meat was highly poisonous.
Liu Yushu was shocked. Who on earth was trying to harm her?!
Liu Yushu lay on the couch with the little cat in her arms. Because of those teeth, she felt uneasy. She woke up after sleeping for a while at night and couldn't fall asleep again. Her mind was full of random thoughts.
Even if those were not human teeth, it was not an easy thing to collect so many animal teeth.
She used to think that Liu Yuyu was a sneaky person who liked to play the pig to eat the tiger. Now she felt that Liu Yuyu was extremely vicious.
The little cat Wu Qing seemed to see through her thoughts. It didn't sleep either and licked her cheek with its tiny tongue.
Just before dawn, there suddenly came a shrill scream from outside the house.
It was Zui Tao.
Liu Yushu turned over and got up, asking nervously, "What's going on?"
Zui Tao didn't answer. She became even more anxious. She put on her cloak and got out of bed. When she came to the outer hall and took a look, her eyes widened in shock. She saw Zui Tao sitting on the ground, staring at the door in horror. There was a long, black thing pasted on the top of the door. It looked like human hair and hung all the way to the ground.
"Miss, I'm scared," Zui Tao said, trembling as she got up and tightly grabbed Liu Yushu's arm. Liu Yushu saw that her face was pale and knew that she was really frightened.
"Don't be afraid. This thing may not be hair. It just looks like it," Liu Yushu comforted Zui Tao. She walked forward carefully. Disgusted by the bad luck, she didn't dare to touch it with her hands. She pulled out a flower branch from the vase and bravely poked it a few times gently. The black hair swayed slowly.
She panicked and shivered suddenly. "It's real human hair," she said.
Zui Tao was so scared that she cried.
"Go and call someone to clean this up," Liu Yushu ordered. She quickly returned to the inner room, not daring to look at the long hair anymore. She quickly washed up with lingering fear.
In front of the bronze mirror, she was in a daze, her mind in a mess.
Zui Tao went to call the servants and maids to take the hair away. The maids and servants were also scared when they saw it.
At night, as soon as it got dark, Liu Yushu smelled the smell of burning paper wafting into the room. She could also faintly hear a woman whispering.
"Miss He, your death has nothing to do with us. If you want revenge, go after Miss Shu. Don't come after us," several maids were burning paper money around a copper basin in the backyard.
"How dare you! Burning paper money is not allowed in the mansion. Are you tired of living? How dare you do this right under the miss's nose. I'll tell the miss to send you all away later," Zui Tao said as she poured a basin of water on the fire in the copper basin.
The maids immediately stood in a row, pleading pitifully and fearfully, "Sister Zui Tao, we know we were wrong. Please don't let the miss drive us out."
"Scram," Zui Tao said as she kicked over the copper basin on the ground. She ordered one of the maids, "Hurry up and take this inauspicious thing away."
"Yes," the maid didn't care that the copper basin was hot. She hurriedly picked it up and left. Her hands were scalded with several big blisters.
"Miss, how about I go to the old lady's room and get some Buddhist scriptures to read?" Zui Tao said fearfully.
"Okay. We'll go together tomorrow when it's dawn," Liu Yushu said, feeling uneasy.
For no reason, why did the rumor of ghosts haunting suddenly spread in the mansion? It was making everyone panic.
