Liu Yushu frowned tightly. She groggily opened her eyes, and her blurred vision gradually cleared. In front of her was a familiar face, smiling down at her.
"You're awake," Wu Chunzhe let out a sigh of relief. "Fortunately, you woke up quickly. If you hadn't, I would have left you behind and gone on my own."
"..." Liu Yushu looked blank. She had just woken up and knew nothing. After calming herself down, she only then realized that her head had been resting on Wu Chunzhe's thigh.
As the saying goes, men and women should avoid undue physical contact. She quickly sat up. Moving too fast, she felt a sudden bout of dizziness.
Her forehead slammed into something soft. Looking up, she saw it was Wu Chunzhe's hand. He had used it to shield her from the rock above.
Why was he here? And why was she here?
After a few moments to recover, Liu Yushu recalled what she had seen in the inner room. Cold sweat broke out on her forehead. Looking around, she found the space was narrow and pitch - black, with only a glimmer of light from above.
It turned out that she had been thrown into the well by Geng Zhi, the third young master.
Liu Yushu grew anxious. Looking up, she saw the wellhead was very high. There was no way she could climb out on her own. She was worried that before Geng Zhi knocked her out, he had threatened to take her life. She didn't know if he would carry out his threat later.
Seeing her worried face, Wu Chunzhe laughed. "Look at your gloomy face. Did you see a ghost?" Actually, he meant to comfort her, but the words came out wrong.
"It's scarier than a ghost," she said with a look of helplessness. She couldn't really tell others about this. She couldn't very well tell Wu Chunzhe that she had stumbled upon an immoral act of lust. She just couldn't bring herself to say it.
Recalling the scene of Geng Rong lying coquettishly in Geng Hang's arms, her cheeks burned like fire, as red as a ripe apple.
"Why are you here?" Liu Yushu looked at Wu Chunzhe curiously. Logically speaking, as a guest, he should be with the girls. Why was he squatting at the bottom of this dry well?
Wu Chunzhe raised his eyebrows and gave her a sly smile. "Guess," he said, moving closer to her. "Why is your face so red? What on earth did you see? Tell me. I'm really curious about what could be scarier than a ghost."
His words made Liu Yushu's face turn even redder. Flustered, she whispered, "It's nothing." Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the mischievous smile on his lips. She felt he was deliberately making fun of her, so she angrily glared at him.
This immature guy who never said anything nice. Bad things always happened when she met him.
"If you won't tell me, I'll guess. Worms?" Wu Chunzhe put his hand under his chin and pretended to think.
Liu Yushu: "..."
"Three big worms, wriggling around together. Am I right?" Wu Chunzhe pointed at her and burst out laughing.
Liu Yushu clearly understood what he meant. Blushing with shame, she hung her head and ignored him. Then she thought, how did he know? Could it be that he had seen it too?
"You... saw it too?" Liu Yushu lifted her eyes slightly, trying hard to hide her shyness.
Wu Chunzhe nodded with a smile, looking completely nonchalant. "Two men and a woman were having an affair in the room. The noise was so loud that it was hard not to notice. I thought someone was pounding stakes in the room. When I went in, I found out it wasn't that. It was something else."
He had been bored and was wandering around the marquis's mansion. By chance, he came to the inner courtyard and heard a woman's shrill cries in the room. Thinking someone was in danger, he rushed in without thinking. When he got in, he was stunned on the spot, and the three people entangled with each other on the other side were also stunned.
Seeing the situation was bad, he left a note saying, "You guys continue. Pretend I was never here." Then he ran away as fast as he could. Geng Hang wouldn't let him go and chased after him. To avoid Geng Hang, he happened to see a dry well and jumped in. He lay in the well pretending to be dead. Geng Hang looked down and saw him lying there with his eyes closed and motionless. Thinking he had fallen to his death, Geng Hang quickly went back to his pleasure.
Wu Chunzhe came from a martial family and had learned kung - fu. He had a good foundation in martial arts, so this height wouldn't hurt him.
The only problem was how to get out. He put his hands on the uneven wall and tried to climb out. It was quite easy for him.
Just as he was about to climb out, Liu Yushu fell in and hit him. Fortunately, she was light, so he caught her easily and even let her rest her head on his thigh.
"Stop talking. I don't want to hear it," Liu Yushu whispered angrily.
Wu Chunzhe pursed his lips in boredom. His eyes secretly sized her up. Her lips were red and teeth were white, and her delicate cheeks were flushed, making her look even more charming and cute. Moreover, when she was shy, she looked especially easy to tease.
He felt a strange feeling in his heart, a warm sensation churning in his chest. He wanted to tease her some more.
So he moved closer to her again, stared into her eyes and whispered, "You're such a grown - up. Haven't you ever read that kind of book?"
