It was the first day of Liu Yushu and Wu Qing's marriage.
When Liu Yushu opened her eyes, it was already well past dawn. Wu Qing had gotten up early and was probably bustling about in the kitchen by now.
She felt lazy and didn't want to get up.
Wu Qing came in with some congee and pickled vegetables. Seeing Liu Yushu in a daze, he walked over with a smile, placed the food on a wooden block beside, then gently tilted up her delicate chin with his big hand and tenderly kissed her.
"Time to eat." Wu Qing picked up the congee and handed it to her.
Liu Yushu lay on the couch and pouted. "I'm tired. Feed me." She deliberately acted coquettishly.
Wu Qing smiled and patiently fed her spoonful by spoonful. After taking a bite, her eyes widened in surprise. "Such sweet congee! Did you put in the Qionghua wine?" The sweetness filled her mouth and seeped into her heart bit by bit.
Wu Qing nodded. He knew she had a sweet tooth. His eyes scanned her up and down. She was so slender. He thought he must fatten her up.
Liu Yushu sat up. "Brother Qing, I want to fly. Take me flying."
Wu Qing nodded with a smile. "After we finish eating."
Liu Yushu loved being on Wu Qing's back as he carried her leaping over eaves and walking on walls. The wind blowing against them was so comfortable.
Wu Qing took her to the cliff where they had pledged their love. This was the first time they watched the sunset after their marriage. Their hands were tightly clasped together in happiness.
"Brother Qing, don't go back tonight. I want to watch the sunrise."
"Okay."
"But... I'm a bit hungry."
"I'll go catch some rabbits. How about we have game?"
"Great!"
After a sumptuous meal, they lay on the grass and watched the beautiful night sky together. The shining stars made Liu Yushu reluctant to close her eyes.
"Brother Qing, count how many stars there are in the sky, okay?"
Wu Qing smiled tenderly. "Okay. One, two, three..."
Liu Yushu fell asleep quietly. Wu Qing covered her with his cloak to prevent her from catching a cold. He then turned to lie on his side and stared at her beautiful face. They had finally become real husband and wife. He was truly happy.
When Liu Yushu woke up, it was just in time for the sunrise. Unfortunately, Wu Qing was still asleep. Liu Yushu couldn't bear to wake him up, so she didn't. Although they didn't watch the sunrise together, they were both happy, and that was enough.
It was the second day of Liu Yushu and Wu Qing's marriage.
Liu Yushu coiled up her hair and changed into a dark-colored dress. Now that she was a married woman, she couldn't be like before.
She specifically told Wu Qing to go to the market to buy some fresh fish, meat, and vegetables. She was determined to show off her cooking skills and make him a sumptuous dinner today.
She wanted him to know that she was very capable, not a fool who only knew how to let him take care of her daily life.
Actually, the main reason was that she didn't want Wu Qing to raise her like a pig, just eating and sleeping every day!
Liu Yushu looked at the long and short knives on the chopping board, then at the lively fish in the water tank. An idea came to her mind. She decided to make four dishes and one soup tonight, namely roasted beef, steamed fish, crispy pork, steamed egg custard with black beans, and a shrimp soup.
Liu Yushu curled up the corners of her lips, satisfied with her menu.
But there was a problem. How should she deal with this fish?
Wu Qing was tidying up the yard outside. He had pulled out all the flowers and plants in the flower bed. It seemed that he was going to plant new flowers.
Suddenly, he heard her panicked scream from the kitchen. Wu Qing rushed to the kitchen like the wind, still holding the earth - covered flowers and plants in his hand. He said nervously, "Are you okay?"
Liu Yushu shook her head aggrievedly. She took small steps over and hugged Wu Qing tightly, wrapping her arms around his waist. She looked up at him with innocent, tear - filled eyes. "The fish keeps jumping around. I can't hold it down." She held onto his clothes with lingering fear and glanced at the fish struggling on the ground.
Wu Qing let out a sigh of relief. He thought she had cut her finger. He was so scared that his heart almost stopped.
"I'll cook." He said with doting eyes.
"No, I'll do it." Liu Yushu said firmly. But hearing the sound of the fish flapping on the ground, she immediately lost her courage and whispered weakly, "Help me clean the fish first."
"Okay." Wu Qing obediently complied.
So, while she was chopping vegetables, he was cleaning the fish beside her.
Liu Yushu had been raised in luxury and had never done any housework since childhood. How could she chop vegetables? She cut a piece of beef into pieces of different sizes. Frowning in annoyance, she picked up another piece of beef, tightened her grip on the kitchen knife, and concentrated on cutting out a perfect slice of meat.
Instead of cutting out the slice, she cut her finger.
Liu Yushu frowned tightly. She quickly put her bleeding finger into her mouth, worried that Wu Qing would notice. She turned around with her back to him and lied nervously, "I haven't decided what to cook yet. I'll go for a walk in the yard to get some inspiration."
Just as she was about to leave, Wu Qing's arm blocked her way. He stood behind her and easily caught the hand that was injured. Looking at the wound on it, he was both heart - broken and angry. He said straightforwardly, "You're not allowed to step into the kitchen from now on." He picked her up horizontally. She resisted, wrapping her arms around his neck and pouting. "I won't. I can't stop cooking just because of this little injury."
"You... really! Don't! Listen! To! Me!" Wu Qing looked at her helplessly. She replied word by word, "Yes. Just! Don't! Listen! To! You!"
"..." Wu Qing sighed and put her down. Alright, he admitted defeat.
