Chapter 35: Marriage Certificate

"I was talking about the fur," Rong Lan said.

"Yes, you were mumbling that the fur was gone," Chu Hengyuan replied as he took the mineral water bottle from her hand when he saw she had stopped drinking.

Rong Lan let out a sigh of relief. She was just wondering why her dream had been so strange. It turned out that when she had hugged Chu Hengyuan's waist, she had mistakenly thought it was her own tail. Fortunately, she hadn't said that her tail was bald, or else Chu Hengyuan might have suspected that she was some kind of monster.

"I dreamed that I was hugging a stuffed toy, but it didn't feel fluffy. So in my dream, I was wondering why the fur on my stuffed toy was gone..." the little fox said seriously, making up a story.

Chu Hengyuan couldn't help but laugh. The reason the girl gave seemed reasonable, but he always had a strange feeling that the truth was not like this. "Let's get out of the car. It's getting late. Even though we have the VVIP channel, we still need to finish the formalities before the place closes. Otherwise, we'll have to wait until tomorrow."

However, the girl had told him at the dinner table that she needed to go to work tomorrow. Her store had been renovated and was going to open. She would probably be very busy tomorrow and wouldn't have time to go to the Civil Affairs Bureau again as the elders had requested.

Rong Lan immediately woke up. "Let's get out, let's get out."

They both opened the car doors on their sides at the same time.

Chu Hengyuan opened his mouth but didn't say anything in the end. He just smiled helplessly. After getting out of the car, he walked around to the girl's side and took her hand.

Rong Lan was used to being led, so she just let Chu Hengyuan hold her hand without pulling away.

As soon as they walked into the gate of the Civil Affairs Bureau, a staff member came up and asked, "Excuse me, are you Mr. Chu and Miss Bai?"

They nodded, and the staff member immediately made a gesture of invitation. "Please go to the right and go straight in. There's no one in the marriage registration office now."

Chu Hengyuan thanked the staff member and pulled the girl who couldn't help but turn her head to look at the left side away.

The little fox being pulled still turned her head to look at the divorce registration office on the left. Her eyes were shining. If she weren't here to get her marriage certificate today, she would definitely sit in the divorce registration office with a bag of sunflower seeds and watch the show while munching on them.

She didn't know how long the two people at the door of the divorce registration office had been arguing, but it seemed that they had just reached the most intense stage. The man was scolding the woman for not being able to get pregnant for so many years, while the woman was scolding the man for being so bad in bed. She said she couldn't get pregnant entirely because of the man.

It wasn't until they turned a corner and entered the marriage registration office that Rong Lan reluctantly took back her gaze.

Out of the corner of his eye, Chu Hengyuan saw the girl's regretful look and couldn't help but laugh and cry at the same time. "What's so interesting about that?"

"Of course it's interesting!" Rong Lan was still immersed in the regret of not being able to watch the whole show. "Don't you feel curious about who is actually at fault when you hear them blaming each other?"

Chu Hengyuan shook his head helplessly. "Not curious. My focus may be different from yours. When I heard them arguing, the only thing I could think of was that we would never enter the divorce registration office of the Civil Affairs Bureau for the same reason as they were arguing about."

Hearing this, Rong Lan looked the man up and down. His shoulders were broad and his waist was narrow. Finally, her gaze stayed on the area below the man's abdomen for a few seconds. "Young Master Chu is so confident in himself?"

Their fox clan had very high requirements for their partners.

Chu Hengyuan reached out and covered the girl's eyes, lowering his voice. "Girl, don't act like a hooligan in public."

Her gaze was so obvious that even though he had been a playboy for so many years, he still felt flustered under the girl's slightly aggressive gaze.

Rong Lan pulled the man's hand away and shifted her gaze. "It was you who started it first, but now you're blaming me for acting like a hooligan."

Chu Hengyuan felt so wronged that he even pouted a little. "When did I start it first?"

"What I meant just now was that I don't really care about having children. If you don't like kids, we don't have to have them. If you like kids, we can have them in a few years. We will definitely not quarrel and get divorced because of children."

Rong Lan blinked her eyes. "We just look at things from different perspectives."

Her focus was all on the woman who was shouting that her husband was useless. What made her find it funny was that when she looked at the cause - effect lines of the two people, neither of them was a good person. They had both had affairs. However, judging from their argument, one had an affair for the sake of having a child, and the other probably had an affair just for pure pleasure.

It wasn't until the two of them sat down on the chairs in front of the office desk that they finally put the previous topic behind them.

Chu Hengyuan took out the documents needed to apply for the marriage certificate from the backpack he was carrying and pushed them to the staff member.

After the staff member registered the relevant information, he gave Chu Hengyuan and Rong Lan each a "Declaration of Application for Marriage Registration". "Please check if the relevant information is correct. If you confirm that it is correct, just sign your names."

Rong Lan roughly looked at the regulations in the declaration, picked up a pen, and signed her name at the bottom of the declaration.

Out of habit, after she finished writing the two characters "Rong Lan", she realized that she had forgotten to write the surname "Bai". She secretly glanced at Chu Hengyuan, who was still carefully reading the declaration, and then guiltily added the character "Bai" in front of "Rong Lan".

What she didn't know was that Chu Hengyuan had noticed that she had written the name wrong when she was writing it, but he didn't remind her. He just wanted to see if she could find it out by herself later.

He didn't think much about it. He just assumed that the Bai family didn't treat her as well as they seemed to on the surface, so she wanted to abandon the surname Bai.

He never thought that the little fox's real name was Rong Lan and that she was not the real Bai Rong Lan at all.

After the two of them signed their names respectively and then exchanged the signed declarations, they finally handed the declarations to the staff member.

The staff member took the declarations, checked if their identity information met the requirements for marriage registration, and then entered a new round of procedures - paying the fee, taking photos, and then getting the marriage certificate.

In less than half an hour, they got the marriage certificate. Chu Hengyuan took out two handfuls of wedding candies from his backpack and distributed them to the staff members. The staff members happily took the candies and said a few words of congratulations.

Rong Lan was studying the photo on the marriage certificate. Sure enough, good - looking people always looked good in photos. Like her and Chu Hengyuan, even though they weren't very familiar with each other, the photo on the marriage certificate still gave a feeling that they were a perfect match.

"Let's go home," Chu Hengyuan said as he took the hand of his newly - wedded little wife. The smile on his face was real and gentle.

Rong Lan rarely cooperated and slightly squeezed his fingers in return. "Okay."

When they walked out of the Civil Affairs Bureau, it was almost dusk.

Coincidentally, the couple who had been arguing outside the divorce registration office also walked out of the Civil Affairs Bureau at this time. They were also holding a pair of red marriage certificates in their hands.
