Chapter 39: The First Day of Work

Rong Lan slapped the man's hand on her lower abdomen and turned her head away disdainfully, trying to avoid the deliberately alluring breath. However, the little fox herself didn't know that her earlobes had unconsciously turned red. The man who had embraced her from behind gritted his teeth and almost couldn't resist taking a bite.

Chu Hengyuan knew his own nature well. He let go of her just a second before losing control and walked forward a few steps as if nothing had happened. He bent down to shake out the quilt and said, "Stop fooling around. Go wash up and go to bed early. You've been busy all day and must be tired."

Rong Lan still stared at Chu Hengyuan. "You wanted to leave me an escape route. Why didn't you just sleep in the guest room?"

She had pulled him into the master bedroom, thinking he would find an excuse to sleep in the guest room. But as soon as they entered, she saw two quilts.

Hearing this, the man's hand that was shaking the quilt paused. He immediately put on a wronged and incredulous expression, turned around, and said, "Such a big bed, but Lanlan isn't even willing to give me a little bit of space?"

Rong Lan: "..."

Suddenly, she really wanted to slap this guy in the face. He couldn't do business or manage a company, but his acting skills were excellent. Why didn't he go into acting?

Seeing the indescribable expression on the little girl's face, Chu Hengyuan couldn't hold it in anymore and burst out laughing. Then he put on a serious look and said, "If Lanlan doesn't want me to stay here, I can sleep in the guest room."

For the sake of her future roast chickens, beggar chickens, and soy sauce chickens, Rong Lan couldn't really drive Chu Hengyuan away. What if this guy got angry and didn't cook up to his usual standard in the future? That would be such a loss. "No, I was just asking casually."

"That's good. Go wash up. I'll finish shaking out the quilt and then go wash up too." Chu Hengyuan turned back to continue shaking the quilt.

When Rong Lan came out after washing her face and brushing her teeth, Chu Hengyuan was standing by the bed, holding his phone and doing God knows what.

She playfully gave his shoulder a hard push, then bypassed him, walked to the right side of the bed, lifted the quilt, and got in.

Staggered by the push and almost falling onto the bed, Chu Hengyuan looked at the little girl who had scurried away guiltily in surprise.

He tossed his phone onto the bed, pretended to roll up his sleeves, and walked to the side of the little girl whose head was the only thing showing from under the quilt. "Lanlan, I'm really starting to suspect that you just want to push me down, huh?"

Rong Lan reached out from under the quilt and pushed Chu Hengyuan's thigh. "Go wash up quickly. It's time to go to bed. I have to get up at eight o'clock tomorrow."

Chu Hengyuan was helpless but had to give in to her and didn't tease her anymore.

It took him less than five minutes to wash his face and brush his teeth. Then he lifted the quilt and lay down, and only then did he press the remote on the bedside table to turn off the lights in the room.

"Good night, Lanlan."

"Good night, brother."

Since they were each curled up in their own quilts and their sleeping postures were decent, not once during the night did the "coincidence" of rolling into each other's quilts occur.

Early in the morning, both of them were woken up by Rong Lan's alarm clock.

Rong Lan was jolted awake by the crowing sound of the alarm clock. She instinctively sat up, reached out her hand, and accurately pressed the phone. With a swipe of her finger, she turned off the noisy alarm.

She was just about to lie back down and catch a five - minute nap, but she didn't get the chance. A hand supported her back, preventing her from lying down smoothly.

She turned her head with a resentful look at the handsome man with a smiling face. "Young Master Chu, you..."

That's too much!

Chu Hengyuan: "???"

He was both amused and helpless. He didn't know if this little girl was doing it on purpose or if she was still half - asleep and hadn't fully woken up. "What did you call me? Don't you recognize me after sleeping for one night?"

Only then did Rong Lan realize that she had unconsciously called him by the old way she used to address him.

She continued to look at him resentfully. "Brother, I want to take a five - minute nap, just five minutes."

Chu Hengyuan also sat up. "No way. It's the opening day of your store. It won't look good if you, the boss, are late. Get up quickly to wash up and change your clothes."

Rong Lan: "..."

She was starting to doubt her fox life—he wouldn't even let her take a nap. That's too much!

However, she had to admit that he was right. It was the opening day, and Wang Tong and Si Mo were waiting for her. It wouldn't be good for her to be late.

"Okay, I'll get up to wash up and change my clothes right away." With that, Rong Lan lifted the quilt, got out of bed, and floated into the bathroom.

Five minutes later, Rong Lan, who was about fifty percent awake, floated from the bathroom to the closet.

Chu Hengyuan sat on the bed all the time, watching the little girl who looked utterly listless with amusement.

It wasn't until she had changed her clothes that Rong Lan fully woke up. She sat down in front of the dressing table, opened the makeup box, and took out only a lipstick. She was short on time, and besides, she didn't like makeup in the first place. A bit of lipstick to brighten up her complexion was enough.

In less than half an hour, Rong Lan had gotten herself ready. "I'm going out." She stuffed her phone into her pocket.

Chu Hengyuan, who was also lifting the quilt to get up, smiled. "Go ahead. Come back early tonight. I'll prepare crispy chicken for you today."

At the mention of "crispy chicken", the little fox, who was already one - hundred percent awake, became two - hundred percent awake. "Okay!"

Although he had said he wouldn't send his little wife to her store, Chu Hengyuan still walked her to the door. He watched her enter the elevator before closing the door and going back to the room to look for his phone.

He picked up the phone that was on the bedside table, clicked on one of the few group chats that he hadn't muted, sent an address and a message in the group chat, then tossed the phone onto the bed, went into the closet to change his clothes, and didn't look at the group chat messages anymore.

Rong Lan thought she was the last one to arrive, but she never expected that Si Mo showed up right on time. He stepped into the fortune - telling shop at exactly nine o'clock.

The exterior of the fortune - telling shop had a modern style. As soon as he lifted the bamboo curtain at the door and saw the antique - style interior, even the well - traveled Si Mo was shocked.

He waved the folding fan in his hand and suddenly felt that bringing the fan was a good idea. Looking at the little fox and that human in modern clothes, they seemed out of place in this antique environment. Although he was also wearing modern clothes, at least he had a folding fan to add a bit of atmosphere.

Rong Lan had told Wang Tong about Si Mo in advance. When she saw Si Mo come in, Wang Tong got up nervously and took the initiative to reach out his hand to Si Mo. "Hello, Mr. Si. My name is Wang Tong. We'll be colleagues from now on. Please take care of me."

Si Mo hesitated for only a second, then shook Wang Tong's hand with a calm expression. "Hello, Mr. Wang. Please take care of me too."

After the polite greeting, Wang Tong didn't stay long. He wasn't getting his high salary for nothing. After finishing the decoration work, Rong Lan had given him a bunch of things to do. If it weren't for Rong Lan asking him to come and introduce how much thought he had put into the interior decoration, he wouldn't even have shown up today.

After Wang Tong left, Si Mo stopped acting so formally. He sat down on a wooden chair and slapped his folding fan on the wooden table. "Little fox, you really have a big business. This elaborate decoration must have cost you a lot of money, right?"
