Chapter 57: Two Million in Hand

Si Mo took a serious look at Chu Chuan. With full professional ethics and no nonsense, he said, "It's impossible within three years."

Chu Chuan smiled and replied, "Does the master mean there's hope after three years?"

Si Mo opened his folding fan and gently waved it. "I don't know what will happen after three years. One million is only enough for me to calculate for three years."

Although she was playing with her phone, Rong Lan, who had been paying attention to their conversation, was shocked and looked at Si Mo. Only calculating for three years with one million? This guy is even more of a profiteer than she is!

The smile on Chu Chuan's face froze for a moment, and the hand resting on his thigh tightened. "I can give the master another one million. Could the master calculate for another three years for me?"

"Sure. Then please transfer the one - million you've already spent to our account first," Si Mo said.

Hearing Si Mo's words, Rong Lan cooperated by taking out a small card with her account number printed on it and slapping it in front of Chu Chuan.

Chu Chuan picked up the small card. "I'll transfer the money to sister - in - law right away."

"You haven't even been recognized as a member of the Chu family yet. Do you think it's appropriate to call me sister - in - law?" Rong Lan smiled casually. "You'd better call me master."

Si Mo raised his eyes. The little fox's words were like stabbing Chu Chuan hard in the heart. Sure enough, Chu Chuan couldn't smile anymore.

Chu Chuan was in control of the Chu Group now. What he cared most about was that even though he held the Chu Group, he wasn't recognized by the Chu family. Compared with Chu Hengyuan, the latter was the eldest young master of the Chu family, while the former, to put it bluntly, was just a bastard.

Chu Chuan was silent for a moment and then smiled again. "It doesn't matter. It's just a title. Since sister - in - law likes it, I'll call sister - in - law master then."

"Yeah," Rong Lan lowered her head and continued playing with her phone.

Not long after, one million was transferred into the account. Rong Lan showed the bank message to Si Mo, and only then did Si Mo speak up. "Mr. Chu Chuan, are you sure you still want to ask the same question as before?"

"Of course!" Chu Chuan insisted.

"Okay." Si Mo did a good job of putting on a show. He pretended to seriously calculate Chu Chuan's fortune by pinching his fingers, but in fact, he was distracted.

One minute later, he gave the answer. "It's still impossible within six years. Does Mr. Chu Chuan want to continue calculating?"

If Chu Chuan didn't renege on his promise, he would have already earned two million. If Chu Chuan continued to calculate, his conscience might feel a bit uneasy.

Chu Chuan sighed. "Forget it. If it's impossible within six years, it probably won't be possible in the future either."

Rong Lan didn't expect Chu Chuan to have a bit of self - awareness.

"I still don't quite understand why the elders of the Chu family are unwilling to recognize me. It's true that my mother was wrong to interfere in someone else's marriage, but shouldn't I be innocent?" There was a hint of disappointment in his tone.

Hearing this, the protective little fox put down her phone with an unhappy look on her face. "Mr. Chu Chuan, it's useless to play the victim in front of me. Ask yourself if you deserve the word 'innocent'. I know exactly what you've done from childhood to adulthood."

"Sister - in - law's understanding of me probably comes from my elder brother. Does sister - in - law really want to believe what a good - for - nothing playboy says? Has sister - in - law ever thought that my elder brother can't compare with me, so he speaks ill of me in front of you?" Chu Chuan seriously analyzed to Rong Lan how innocent he was.

Rong Lan rolled her eyes. "My understanding of you doesn't actually come from my elder brother." In fact, Chu Hengyuan disliked Chu Chuan so much that he didn't like to talk about Chu Chuan with her at all. Only Chu Chuan took himself seriously.

Her understanding of Chu Chuan came entirely from her own observation of the cause - and - effect lines and Si Mo's occasional complaints about how poisonous Chu Chuan was.

"If Mr. Chu Chuan has nothing else to do, he can leave. We still have work to do," Rong Lan said to drive him away.

She understood that Chu Chuan came here for two reasons. One was to prove that he was rich. One million was nothing to him, and he could transfer it to her account with a blink of an eye. The other was to play the victim. He thought she was a naive and kind - hearted person who would believe he was innocent after just a few words.

She really didn't have a problem with the child of a mistress because the mistakes of the adults shouldn't be imposed on the child. That would be unfair to the child. But there was a premise. The child had to be a good one, at least knowing how to be filial to the elders, be kind to siblings, and not covet what didn't belong to them.

As for a person like Chu Chuan, forget it.

Si Mo picked up where the little fox left off. "Mr. Chu Chuan, remember to transfer another one million to our account. Mr. Chu Chuan won't skip out on a fortune - teller's bill, right?"

Throughout history, those who dared to skip out on the bills of fortune - tellers with real skills never ended up well.

It was easy for a fortune - teller to deal with such a person.

Although he wasn't a very qualified fortune - teller, he could still make Chu Chuan suffer with just a snap of his fingers.

Chu Chuan lowered his eyes to hide the gloom in them. "I won't skip out on the bill, but I still have one thing to tell sister - in - law. I'll leave after I finish."

Rong Lan tapped her finger on the table. "Please call me master. Thank you!"

She would never admit that she had such a morally corrupt brother - in - law.

"Okay! Master!" Chu Chuan gritted his teeth. "My mother did interfere in someone else's marriage, but my mother got pregnant with me after my father's first wife passed away. This is what my mother told me. She must not have lied to me. So, my mother's sin isn't actually that great. Moreover, it takes two to tango. My father was also wrong."

Rong Lan sneered. It was a pity that she didn't want to talk to Chu Chuan. Otherwise, she would definitely tell him that interfering in someone else's marriage was a original sin. If the standard for measuring someone's interference in a marriage was pregnancy, the world would collapse. As for Chu Chuan and Chu Hengyuan's father, he was even more annoying in her heart. She felt that just looking at him would dirty her eyes.

"From childhood to adulthood, Chu Hengyuan used his status as the eldest young master of the Chu family to force my classmates to bully me continuously and insult my mother and me. I lived under Chu Hengyuan's shadow for so many years. I had the ambition to take away what belonged to him, and I don't think I did anything wrong. But everyone looks down on me because of this and thinks that my ambition is very dangerous."

Just as Chu Chuan was getting excited, a light cough sounded.

Rong Lan and Si Mo, who were watching Chu Chuan's performance intently, shifted their gazes to the direction of the sound.

Then they saw Xie Xinxin.

Hearing the voices inside, Xie Xinxin lifted the bamboo curtain very carefully. She smiled embarrassedly. "Sorry to interrupt."

She pretended not to see Chu Chuan, although she knew who he was.

Was her luck really that bad recently? She always ran into annoying people.

Rong Lan was shocked. Why was it Xie Xinxin? Didn't Xie Xinxin manage to convince her mother to come? Had she lost the bet?!
