Chapter 33: The Eerie Dream

He Huanhuan was now like a child. As soon as she heard Lu Xingmi was going to be harsh on her, tears welled up and streamed down her face.

"I don't want to! I don't!" She wailed, pounding on Lu Xingmi's back and throwing a tantrum.

Lu Xingmi felt like killing someone at this moment.

Su Yanke was also bothered by He Huanhuan's cries. You know, the shrill cries of an adult were no less ear - piercing than a child's cries in the middle of the night.

Chen Maohua quietly leaned over and asked Su Yanke mysteriously, "Are all you girls this scary?"

"I'm not sure either!" Su Yanke had rarely interacted with girls in her life.

"Stop crying. Tell me what you want!" Lu Xingmi grabbed He Huanhuan's shoulders, stared into her eyes, and forced himself to calm down.

"You... you can only look at me!" He Huanhuan sobbed.

Lu Xingmi had run out of patience. As long as He Huanhuan stopped crying, he was willing to agree to anything.

"No, you can only look at me from now on!"

Lu Xingmi nodded in agreement.

"You're mine!"

Lu Xingmi nodded.

"You're my boyfriend!"

Lu Xingmi nodded... Wait, what?

What just happened?

After nodding, Lu Xingmi realized something was wrong. What did it mean that he was her boyfriend?

"Yay! I have a boyfriend! Xingxing! Xingxing! Let's go to bed together!"

He Huanhuan jumped up happily and started calling Lu Xingmi "Xingxing" as she circled around him.

Su Yanke's eyes lit up when she heard the word "bed". This was great! Maybe this could help He Huanhuan recover!

Before Lu Xingmi could refuse, Su Yanke dragged him into the room.

Lu Xingmi looked at Su Yanke in disbelief. Su Yanke blinked and whispered,

"Xingmi, bear with it for a while. Don't you want He Huanhuan to return to normal soon? Just put this talisman under her pillow after you lull her to sleep. Come on! I believe you can do it!"

After saying that, Su Yanke made a cheering gesture and then mercilessly closed the door.

Lu Xingmi took a deep breath in front of the closed door. After mustering up his courage, he turned around and peeled He Huanhuan off his body.

"Go to sleep now. Hurry!"

"No, Xingxing, accompany me~"

"I'll tell you a story. Go to sleep, okay?" Lu Xingmi took another deep breath.

"Tell a story! Great!"

Lu Xingmi had no idea how many stories he had told He Huanhuan. He had emptied his mind of all the stories he knew, but it did have an effect.

Su Yanke finished washing downstairs. By the time Lu Xingmi came downstairs, he was exhausted.

"I made some honey water. Do... you want some?" Su Yanke felt a bit guilty when she saw Lu Xingmi's chapped lips.

Lu Xingmi looked up at Su Yanke, took the cup, and gulped it down.

"How's it going?"

"She's asleep."

"Amazing! You're amazing!" Su Yanke was truly impressed. She really couldn't handle He Huanhuan in this state.

"It's getting late. Go wash up and get some rest. I'll definitely return a normal He Huanhuan to you tomorrow."

After saying this, Su Yanke slipped away. Lu Xingmi wanted to correct her. He Huanhuan wasn't "returned" to him. He had nothing to do with He Huanhuan, but Su Yanke had misunderstood.

Lu Xingmi's head started to ache again.

At midnight, when everything was asleep, Su Yanke carried the Spiritual Deer and quietly walked into He Huanhuan's room.

"Deer, let's start!"

"Gugugugu! Leave it to me!"

The fur on the Spiritual Deer glowed a faint blue light again. Slowly, He Huanhuan floated up from the bed. One person and one deer stood facing each other.

Strands of blue light transferred from the Spiritual Deer to He Huanhuan.

After about a cup of tea's time, this process ended.

The Spiritual Deer gently placed He Huanhuan back on the bed. But it had no strength left and fell from the air.

Su Yanke quickly stepped forward and caught it. "Deer, what's wrong with you?"

"I'm a bit tired and need to rest. I may fall into a deep sleep again. I like you so much. I really don't want to leave you!"

The Spiritual Deer curled up in Su Yanke's arms.

Seeing the Spiritual Deer curled up in a ball and hearing its soft and cute words, a pang of sadness welled up in Su Yanke's heart.

Su Yanke gently touched the Spiritual Deer's head and said softly,

"I like you too, and I don't want you to leave. Don't worry. I'll wake you up in the shortest time possible. Do you trust me?"

The Spiritual Deer showed its trust in Su Yanke with its actions. Before falling into a deep sleep, it licked Su Yanke's cheek, showing its affection and complete trust.

Su Yanke then walked to the lake. She activated her spiritual power and carefully placed the Spiritual Deer deep under the water, where no one would ever disturb its rest.

"We'll meet again soon. Sleep well, Deer!"

After returning to her room, Su Yanke tossed and turned and couldn't fall asleep.

Su Yanke thought for a long time and finally made a decision.

Su Yanke was always worried that if the locals found that the soul - losing disease no longer occurred, they might resume the absurd sacrifice.

If that happened, wouldn't the Spiritual Deer have to suffer again?

So, Su Yanke decided to open an educational institution here to make the locals of this generation and future generations no longer believe in these superstitious and ignorant sacrifice practices.

Just in case, Su Yanke also planned to draw a blessing picture to protect the Spiritual Deer from being disturbed for a hundred years.

After making this decision, Su Yanke called Agent Liu. Agent Liu was silent for a while after hearing this but then agreed. He also invested some money in Su Yanke's educational institution and suggested discussing with the director to use this program to encourage more kind - hearted people to contribute.

Because she had stayed up late, Su Yanke didn't wake up until nearly 11 o'clock the next day.

Su Yanke woke up because she was hungry. After checking the time, she was still a bit dazed. It was so late. Why didn't anyone come to wake her up?

It was usually He Huanhuan who came. Was He Huanhuan still not okay?

Thinking of this, Su Yanke couldn't sit still. She quickly got up and went downstairs. But there was no one in the hall. What puzzled Su Yanke even more was that there was not a single light on in the hall.

Even the video recording equipment was dark.

What was going on?

Boom! Boom! Several thunderclaps suddenly roared. Su Yanke was startled. The lightning illuminated the hall brightly, but Su Yanke's face turned deathly pale.

The hall was filled with corpses. They were Lu Xingmi and the others. Their eyes were wide open, looking as if they had died with great grievances and were eager to complain.

Su Yanke involuntarily took a few steps back, but the floor was soaked in blood. When she lifted her foot, it was sticky.

"Why? Why? Why did you leave me? I miss you so much! Come back, okay!"

A white - clothed figure suddenly appeared in front of Su Yanke.

Su Yanke couldn't see the figure's face clearly. The voice was completely unfamiliar to her. She was sure she had never heard it before.

"Who... are you?"

The figure didn't answer her question but just repeated these words over and over again.

Su Yanke noticed that the figure had no feet and was floating!

What terrified Su Yanke the most was that the blood was flowing from under the white figure. No! The white figure had turned into a bright red one.

Su Yanke's teeth were chattering. In her life, she had never encountered such a thing. She wanted to use a talisman and reached behind her, but her hand found nothing.

When Su Yanke looked for the figure again, she was horrified to find that it had disappeared!

You know, the fear of the unknown was several times scarier than the fear of the known!

Su Yanke involuntarily took steps back, planning to retreat to her room and figure out a way. But her back hit a cold object.

Su Yanke stiffly turned her head. The next moment, her pupils shrank suddenly.

Yuan Hexiao's lifeless face came into view.

Blood started to seep from Yuan Hexiao's facial features. At first, it was just like tears, but then it gushed out like a broken faucet.

Su Yanke was drenched in blood from head to toe. The cold feeling instantly spread throughout her body.

Su Yanke couldn't take it anymore. She let out a shrill scream: "Ahhhhhh!"

Su Yanke sat up in bed, drenched in sweat. She opened her eyes suddenly, and the familiar room came into view.

Su Yanke took a few deep breaths to calm herself down. She subconsciously picked up her phone to check the time.

It was exactly 11 o'clock.

Su Yanke's pupils shrank when she saw the number.

How could it be such a coincidence?

Su Yanke stood in front of the door and placed her slightly trembling hand on the doorknob.

She took a few deep breaths. Just as she was about to open the door, the door opened by itself.

A familiar voice sounded.

"Sister Yanke, are you up? I'm coming in! Ahhhh!"

He Huanhuan was also startled by Su Yanke standing behind the door. "Sister Yanke? You... you're up! I thought you were still sleeping. I'm sorry. Did I scare you? Lunch is ready. Come down and eat quickly!"

"Is everyone up?" Su Yanke asked worriedly, thinking of the eerie dream.

"Yes!" He Huanhuan said sheepishly, "I'm sorry, Sister Yanke. I don't know what's wrong with me these days. I said some really excessive things to you yesterday. I'm really sorry. Everyone hasn't had a good rest for a long time, so we all got up late today. I made lunch in advance. Sister Yanke, go wash up and come down to eat. I'll go downstairs and call the others!"

Su Yanke told He Huanhuan it was okay and not to worry about it.

After He Huanhuan left, Su Yanke massaged her temples. Her mind was in a mess and needed to be sorted out.
