Chapter 63: Tender Moments

Bai Wenxi quickly replied: [See you at your door at 10:00. Thank you, senior.]

The start was smooth, and her mood brightened considerably.

She went downstairs to the bathroom to wash up and found that her uncle and aunt were already dressed and having breakfast in the dining room.

"I thought I was the first one up," Bai Wenxi rubbed her sleepy eyes. "Aunt, why don't you two sleep a bit more?"

Su Zhengfeng finished his soybean milk. "How could we still sleep? We woke up at dawn."

Aunt Su scooped up a bowl of congee, peeled an egg and put it on a plate. "Awen, come and eat after you brush your teeth. Cold food will hurt your stomach."

Bai Wenxi splashed some cold water on her face and finally felt more awake.

Just as she sat down, her aunt added some more soybean milk. "Have you contacted the buyer? When shall we go?"

Bai Wenxi took a sip of the congee. It flowed down her throat and into her stomach, warming her heart and stomach. "We can get there at ten."

Su Zhengfeng cleared his throat and glanced at his watch. "What's wrong with Yu Ning? Everyone's up, but she's still sleeping in."

Bai Wenxi quickly spoke up for her younger sister. "I saw that Bei Huai hasn't gotten up yet. Let Yu Ning sleep a bit more. There's still plenty of time."

Aunt Su frowned at the thought of her daughter's laziness. "Bei Huai got up early to work. He's in your uncle's study, on the phone with someone."

"Oh, I don't even want to compare her with you. If only she could become a bit more mature and steady every year compared to before, I'd be grateful to heaven."

Bai Wenxi comfortingly patted her aunt on the back. Seeing her sighing, she quickly made a promise. "If Yu Ning is willing, let her come to the Starry Art Museum. We're short of a deputy curator, and she's a professional in this field."

Aunt Su looked delighted, but Su Zhengfeng disagreed. "If we arrange everything for her, then what's the point of her studying for all these years? I've always been against spoiling children."

Seeing that another battle of educational concepts between her uncle and aunt was about to start, Bai Wenxi quickly wolfed down her breakfast and slipped away.

"You two keep eating. I'll go and see if Bei Huai needs any help."

Even when Bai Wenxi had slipped upstairs, she could still hear her aunt's loud voice chattering on. It was nothing more than complaining that her uncle didn't care enough about the children's future, mixed with dissatisfaction with Su Yu Ning, thinking that her daughter had wasted all her efforts in cultivation.

Although it was a family dispute, Bai Wenxi found it quite novel as she knew that her aunt and uncle had a deep affection for each other as an old couple.

The fact that they could argue over the upbringing of their children just showed the harmony of their relationship. Bai Wenxi sighed repeatedly, thinking that her own parents didn't even want to talk to each other back then.

No matter what they did, it was always her, a little kid, who had to convey messages between them. And they never sat together to care about their children's studies and living conditions.

When Bai Wenxi reached the study, just as she was about to knock on the door, she heard Jiang Beihuai raising his voice aggressively in an argument.

She pressed her ear against the door and eavesdropped. She found that Jiang Beihuai was really domineering at work. He had already restrained himself a lot in front of her, but now, when dealing with his subordinates, he was really meticulous and strict.

Bai Wenxi didn't want to interrupt his work, so she stood in the corridor and waited for a while. When the voices in the study stopped, she knocked on the door.

"Come in."

Bai Wenxi pushed open the door and saw Jiang Beihuai closing his eyes and massaging the bridge of his nose. His face was full of exhaustion and weariness.

She put the steaming soybean milk in front of him and gently comforted him. "You're the president, in control of the future of the group. Naturally, you have a heavy burden on your shoulders. But you should also look on the bright side. You can give orders nicely. If you get angry, it'll only harm your own body."

Jiang Beihuai took off his gold-rimmed glasses, effortlessly picked Bai Wenxi up and pressed her into his arms.

He buried his head in her neck and took a deep breath. "Awen, only when I'm with you can I feel a bit more at ease now."

"I don't know what I'd do without you."

Bai Wenxi knew that he was under a lot of pressure. Those aunts in the Jiang family couldn't be counted on. It would already be a blessing if they didn't hold him back.

His little uncle only knew how to mistreat his subordinates and embezzle money from the projects. He didn't care about the life and death of the group at all. His grandma was old and had retired to the background, rarely making decisions on the front line.

Almost all the affairs of the Jiang Group were decided by Jiang Beihuai alone. He truly held all the power.

Bai Wenxi helped him massage his temples to relieve the fatigue. Seeing the dark circles under his eyes, she knew that he hadn't slept well last night.

She felt extremely distressed. Although she didn't interfere in his affairs, she couldn't help but admonish him. "No matter what, you have to guarantee six hours of sleep every day. This is my minimum requirement for you."

"Look at you. Your lips are blue and there are dark circles under your eyes. You must have stayed up late again."

Jiang Beihuai didn't argue. He leaned against his wife's back, pressing his face tightly against her thin clothes.

He stretched out his hands from behind and tightly hugged her abdomen. "Awen, time is too tight. I have to seize every second. I want to give you a better life."

Bai Wenxi turned her head, her eyes full of melancholy. She said earnestly, "As long as you're healthy, that's the greatest comfort to me. If you ruin your health, even if everyone calls me Mrs. Jiang, what's the meaning of having all the money you give me?"

Not wanting her husband to run around, she kindly suggested, "Why don't you stay at home today? Anyway, I'll have my uncle, aunt and Yu Ning with me."

Jiang Beihuai was very vigilant. As soon as he heard this, he immediately narrowed his eyes and stared at her from head to toe.

He held his wife's chin and bit her delicate earlobe, forcing her to look at him.

"Beihuai, what are you doing? It's early in the morning. Don't play around with me. We're not kids anymore."

Bai Wenxi dodged and wriggled in her husband's arms. Her earlobe was bitten red.

Jiang Beihuai's eyes darkened instantly. The lazy look on him disappeared. His back was as straight as a bow ready to shoot.

"Awen, if you move again, I can't guarantee what will happen. After all, this is the Su family. I think it's better for us to be a bit more reserved."

"Smack!"

Bai Wenxi slapped the table hard and complained angrily. "It's all your fault for always playing these little tricks. I said it's for your own good. I wanted you to catch up on some sleep, but you're still teasing me."

Jiang Beihuai kissed Bai Wenxi's face one by one. He supported the back of her neck and kissed her devoutly more than a dozen times before letting go.

"Don't even think about leaving me behind. Especially when you're meeting your senior Yu, you must take me with you."

He demanded righteously. He grabbed Bai Wenxi's waist with one hand and lifted her up to sit on the desk in front of him.

Bai Wenxi played with Jiang Beihuai's black hair, pressing on the whorl on top of his head.

Jiang Beihuai immediately caught her mischievous hand. His voice was hoarse and seductive. "What are you doing? You can't touch a man's head. He won't grow taller."

The pent-up emotions in Bai Wenxi's heart had been dispelled by his nonsense. Hearing this, she seriously explained, "Nonsense!"

"You're already this old. Your body has already taken shape. Your bone sutures have closed. You won't grow taller or shorter. Besides, you won't even let me touch it. How stingy."

The two played around with each other for a while. When they heard Su Yu Ning yawning as she walked past the door, Jiang Beihuai neatly packed up his computer and walked downstairs hand in hand with Bai Wenxi.
