Yue Chen received a letter from Jiang Yaoji. Looking puzzled, he couldn't figure out why she would reach out to him on her own initiative.
However, the faint smell of blood on the letter piqued his curiosity. Since he had nothing better to do, he decided to take a look.
Strolling casually towards the inn, he heard the sound of a scuffle even before he got close.
His expression froze. What was going on?
Pushing the door open, Yue Chen saw a group of people surrounding and attacking a single person, who was none other than Jiang Yaoji, the one who had written to summon him.
He had suspected that Jiang Yaoji was lying to him. After all, she was just as devious as he was. How could it be possible that she couldn't handle the people from the Fengche Palace? But to his surprise, he walked in to find her on the verge of death.
The attackers showed no sign of stopping, and Jiang Yaoji was covered in blood.
Yue Chen stood there, stunned, unable to react for a moment.
Lying on the ground, Jiang Yaoji looked at Yue Chen with tears in her eyes. "Your Majesty, you've finally come..."
Yue Chen snapped out of his daze. With a wave of his hand, all the former subordinates of the Fengche Palace were knocked down.
Jiang Yaoji, standing beside him, was secretly shocked. All the people present were upper - level gods, yet Yue Chen had managed to defeat them all with a single gesture.
She marveled at his power. It seemed that Yue Chen's divine power had recovered to a great extent. Fortunately, she had come up with a plan instead of confronting him head - on. A direct confrontation would have had disastrous consequences.
Yue Chen didn't come alone. He was quite satisfied. Although Jiang Yaoji's motives were still unclear, this was a good opportunity to let those around him and others outside see his recovery, which would surely deter them.
"Someone, take her down," he ordered, watching as Jiang Yaoji was taken away for treatment. Only then did he order his men to take the former subordinates of the Fengche Palace back.
Those people tried to resist, but Yue Chen sneered. "Killing you is as easy as crushing an ant. Do you really want to oppose me?"
Seeing them gradually calm down, Yue Chen smiled. "A wise man knows when to yield. If you don't entangle with me, once I get the information I want, I won't make things difficult for you."
His smile was sinister, and the crowd didn't believe that he would really spare them. But at this moment, they had no other choice.
The people from the Yuehua Palace quickly stepped forward and took everyone away.
Back in the upper realm, although Yue Chen suspected Jiang Yaoji, he still gave her simple treatment and applied medicine.
The disciples of the Yuehua Palace, still angry about being injured by Jiang Yaoji's men before, glared at her resentfully.
Yue Chen coughed lightly. "All of you, step back."
The crowd reluctantly retreated. They dared not voice their dissatisfaction in front of Yue Chen and could only secretly wish that Jiang Yaoji would be punished, preferably executed.
Yue Chen fiddled with the bracelet in his hand. "Jiang Yaoji."
Just hearing her name from his lips made Jiang Yaoji break out in a cold sweat.
It was obvious that he didn't fully trust her. But she had managed to capture the people from the Fengche Palace, which could be considered a meritorious deed. However, she had also been up to something before, and Yue Chen wasn't completely in the dark. Now, Yue Chen thought that Jiang Yaoji was still useful. If she could give a reasonable explanation, he might spare her life.
His tone was relatively gentle, and Jiang Yaoji secretly breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that her next answer had to be convincing enough for Yue Chen.
"I heard that you've been quite active lately?"
Jiang Yaoji quickly shook her head. "Your Majesty, that's not true!"
Immediately, she burst into tears, as if she had suffered a great injustice, and began to "tell in detail" what had happened during this period.
"Your Majesty, it wasn't supposed to be like this. That day, I captured the Lushu, but Ji Yunxi and Feng Xingzhi were hiding in the Qinse Valley and refused to come out. I had no choice but to use the Lushu to force Feng Xingzhi to leave with me. I tied him up."
Yue Chen raised his eyes. So far, he didn't believe her story. If she had really tied up Feng Xingzhi, why hadn't she killed him or handed him over to him in the end?
Jiang Yaoji immediately understood his suspicion and quickly added, "I was going to hand him over to you, but unexpectedly, Feng Xingzhi pretended to be no match for me. As soon as we got to the Jiang Mansion, he attacked me."
Yue Chen's expression finally changed a bit. "What do you mean?"
"He deceived me. He immediately attacked and injured me, tied me up, and locked me away. After that, the Wangyue Pavilion was no longer under my control."
A disciple of the Yuehua Palace who had been injured last time couldn't hold back and stepped forward. "Are you saying that the people who injured us had nothing to do with you?!"
Jiang Yaoji looked puzzled. "Injure you? When did I do that?"
The crowd looked at each other, not knowing whether what Jiang Yaoji said was true or false.
Yue Chen sat on his seat, looking at her with a deep gaze. "And then?"
"Later, I was taken to the restaurant of the Wangyue Pavilion. Feng Xingzhi and the others used my name to give orders to the people in the Wangyue Pavilion every day. Although I knew a thing or two occasionally, I had no way to take control."
Jiang Yaoji timidly looked up. "Your Majesty Yue Chen, you know me. I would never dare to have any second thoughts!"
Yue Chen was a bit impatient. "Then why isn't Feng Xingzhi taking care of the people from the Fengche Palace now?"
"It's not that he doesn't care. Later, it seemed that Ji Yunxi had finished dealing with her matters and found some former subordinates of the Yunqi Palace. So she came to find Feng Xingzhi, and then he left with them. That's why I got a chance to catch my breath and send out a message asking you to save me."
Yue Chen fell silent after hearing this, and no one knew what was going on in his mind.
To him, he didn't really care whether Jiang Yaoji's words were true or false.
He didn't believe that Jiang Yaoji hadn't shown any leniency towards Feng Xingzhi.
But he was also overconfident enough to think that Jiang Yaoji was just a small fry in the mortal world and wouldn't dare to do anything to him.
A disciple beside him, seeing Yue Chen suddenly fall silent, carefully asked, "Your Majesty, shall we kill her or...?"
Yue Chen glanced at him, clearly showing his annoyance at the disciple's nosiness. The man quickly lowered his head, not daring to say another word.
Yue Chen took a deep breath. Jiang Yaoji was still useful for now. In the mortal world, she and the Wangyue Pavilion could cause some trouble for Ji Yunxi. He himself hadn't fully recovered yet. If Ji Yunxi grew too fast, he might not be prepared in time.
Regardless of what Jiang Yaoji's motives were, as long as she was under his control, it wouldn't matter much.
He tugged at his hood. "Step back. This incident with the Wangyue Pavilion is a one - time thing."
Jiang Yaoji didn't expect him to spare her, not even laying a finger on her. She quickly thanked him and then breathed a sigh of relief and backed out.
Before leaving, she took a quick glance at the man sitting on the seat. Yue Chen's face was still hidden under his hood, and nothing could be seen clearly.
