The magical power transformed into strands of silk threads, tightly binding Qing Xuan's body. As Feng Xingzhi raised his arm, the body was slowly lifted up.
Ji Yunxi opened her palm, and a grayish-brown pill appeared out of thin air. She pried open Qing Xuan's mouth and placed the pill inside.
"We can start setting up the formation now. I'll teach you once. Watch carefully." Ji Yunxi glanced at Feng Xingzhi, and the two instantly reached a certain tacit understanding.
"Okay, let's start." Feng Xingzhi nodded and stood aside, leaving space for Ji Yunxi to perform.
Ji Yunxi stood still, with both palms facing upwards. With a thought, a talisman formation appeared in her palms. The formation unfolded layer by layer, growing larger and larger. The light instantly spread around, and the characters spun rapidly in the air. She brought her palms together, bending her middle and ring fingers inward, and then waved out the talisman formation.
Then she straightened her index and middle fingers, quickly drawing a character in the air. She pressed her thumb against her ring and little fingers and gently tapped the character. The character flew into the formation and merged with it.
"This is the formation I used to guide the soul of Emperor Feng Ji back then. We'll create an identical one according to this. I'll set up the formation, and you write the talisman characters. We must both concentrate simultaneously." Ji Yunxi withdrew her spell and said to Feng Xingzhi.
"Okay, I understand." Feng Xingzhi's expression was solemn as he silently recalled the formation in his mind.
The two of them took action simultaneously. Golden light radiated everywhere, and soon the formation was completed.
"Great! It's done!" A relieved smile appeared on Ji Yunxi's face.
"Master, can I return to my own body now?" Surprise shone in Qing Xuan's eyes.
"Yes!" Ji Yunxi nodded, raising her arm and waving towards Qing Xuan. She placed his body and spiritual form into the formation.
As soon as the two entered the formation, Qing Xuan's spiritual form seemed to be automatically attracted and flew towards his body. A blue light emitted, and the spiritual form merged with the body. The light of the formation grew dimmer and dimmer until it disappeared.
Seeing this, Ji Yunxi let out a sigh of relief. She calculated what to do next in her mind. Qing Xuan had fallen into a deep sleep and probably wouldn't wake up for a while. They had to leave this place quickly and couldn't stay for long.
Feng Xingzhi gasped slightly. Although the formation was simple, it had consumed a great deal of his energy. He looked at Ji Yunxi and found that her face was also a bit pale.
"You rest here for a while. I'll go find a carriage to go back." Feng Xingzhi supported her to the side to rest.
"I'll go with you." Ji Yunxi said and was about to stand up when a sudden dizziness hit her. Feng Xingzhi quickly caught her.
Ji Yunxi felt a bit embarrassed and looked at him awkwardly.
"I've already said no. Just rest." Feng Xingzhi showed a doting smile and then strode away.
Ji Yunxi sat beside the sleeping Qing Xuan. After a long while, Feng Xingzhi still hadn't returned. Bored, she decided to go find him.
With a wave of her long arm, a white light flashed, and a barrier surrounded Qing Xuan. Only then did Ji Yunxi feel relieved and go to find Feng Xingzhi.
She had just walked a short distance when she saw Feng Xingzhi coming back from afar. There was another person with him, wearing a cyan disciple's robe. He seemed to be from the Dream Flower Pavilion. Ji Yunxi looked at the newcomer curiously.
"This is the person I found from the Dream Flower Pavilion's branch. He'll drive the carriage for us so that we can rest." Feng Xingzhi introduced him to Ji Yunxi.
"Then we'll have to trouble you." After Ji Yunxi finished speaking, she removed the protective shield around Qing Xuan, placed him in the carriage, and then the two of them got in to rest.
"The matter is resolved, and I feel a bit more at ease. I guess they're waiting for us to go back." Ji Yunxi leaned on Feng Xingzhi's chest and said softly.
The carriage was traveling on a rough road, jolting people into a daze. There were only forests along the way, and the chirping of birds could be heard. Soon, Feng Xingzhi and Ji Yunxi fell into a deep sleep.
"Master Feng, Master Feng, wake up quickly." In his sleep, Feng Xingzhi faintly heard someone calling his name. He suddenly opened his eyes and looked sharply ahead.
"Master Feng." The coachman was startled by his look, paused for a moment, and then carefully called his name again.
Feng Xingzhi saw the person on the opposite side lift the curtain and stick his head in. Only then did he remember that he had fallen asleep in the carriage. He had been on high alert recently, and this nap had made him a bit dazed.
"What's going on?" Feng Xingzhi rubbed his temples, his voice filled with annoyance. His voice was still a bit lazy just after waking up, making people feel weak all over. Ji Yunxi was also woken up by the commotion.
"There seems to be something abnormal in the Qin Se Valley. Should we continue moving forward?" The coachman quickly asked Feng Xingzhi for his opinion.
After hearing this, Ji Yunxi and Feng Xingzhi instantly woke up, with all their drowsiness gone. Qing Xuan beside them was still sleeping soundly, showing no sign of waking up.
Ji Yunxi lifted the curtain. There was no wind in the forest, and it was completely silent outside the carriage. Even the chirping of birds couldn't be heard. It was eerie everywhere.
Ji Yunxi withdrew her hand, looked at Feng Xingzhi, and shook her head.
"You hide the carriage in the forest and take good care of him. We'll go and check it out." Feng Xingzhi immediately said.
"Okay. If something really happens, then I..." The man wanted to ask something else but was interrupted by Ji Yunxi.
"If a critical situation arises, you immediately drive the carriage to the branch and find Jing Weiwei. Remember, you must protect him well." Ji Yunxi looked at the sleeping Qing Xuan and earnestly instructed him.
"Yes, I remember." Ji Yunxi and Feng Xingzhi got out of the carriage and clasped their fists at the coachman.
"Giddyap." The coachman glanced at them, bowed slightly, and then immediately drove in the opposite direction to hide.
Ji Yunxi watched the coachman go far away before walking towards the valley entrance.
Feng Xingzhi deliberately walked half a step slower than Ji Yunxi, following behind her.
"Something's wrong." The two looked at each other, understanding each other's thoughts. They both summoned their swords and focused intently on the front.
The barrier set up by Feng Xingzhi had been opened, and it was opened from the inside. There must be outsiders.
The two prepared for defense and walked into the valley. Only two guards were left at the valley entrance.
"Great! You're finally back." The guards immediately greeted them when they saw the two, and the worry on their faces lessened a lot.
"What happened?" Ji Yunxi sensed something was wrong and quickly asked them about the situation.
"We were ordered to guard here. The others were all called in by the valley master. We don't know exactly what happened."
Hearing this, a look of doubt flashed across Ji Yunxi's eyes and quickly disappeared. She quietly looked at Feng Xingzhi, and Feng Xingzhi happened to be looking at her.
"You should go back and check quickly." The guard interrupted her thoughts. Ji Yunxi thought of everyone and was worried, but she was also afraid of it being a trap, so she hesitated.
Feng Xingzhi grabbed her hand, his eyes full of determination. As long as it was what Ji Yunxi wanted to do, he, Feng Xingzhi, would accompany her.
