Chapter 9: Searching for a Sword

Dongfang Huaizhu stayed awake the whole night. Finally, she decided to make preparations in advance for the Double Seventh Festival.

"Is there an episode in the original work where Dongfang Huaizhu and Wangquan Baoye dance with swords together..."

With her red lips slightly pursed, Dongfang Huaizhu reached out and touched her chin. "But I don't know how to dance with a sword at all. What if things go wrong then? Won't the subsequent story fall apart?"

Even a small thing could affect the development of the whole situation. She had to be cautious.

"Sister?"

The door was pushed open from the outside. Dongfang Qinlan walked in leisurely, frowning and asking, "What did you call me for?"

"There is something."

Letting out a soft sigh, Dongfang Huaizhu frowned and said, "I need to learn how to dance with a sword in a short time. Go and find a sword for me. I want to practice."

"Ah? Dance with a sword?"

Dongfang Qinlan looked utterly confused. "Can you do it? I think you're better at using a sword to kill than to dance with it..."

"What?" Dongfang Huaizhu raised her eyebrows slightly and gave a soft snort. "Where there's a will, there's a way. As long as I study hard, how can I not learn it?"

Moreover, she didn't need to be as proficient as a martial artist. She just needed to be able to handle the Double Seventh Festival.

Dongfang Qinlan secretly curled her lips. "Sister, I'm not making fun of you. With your figure, I'm not even sure if you can bend down. Don't hurt your back while practicing."

"..." Was this little girl mocking her?

Gritting her teeth tightly, Dongfang Huaizhu twisted her neck. "You just need to get the sword. Why are you talking so much nonsense?"

"Okay!"

Dongfang Qinlan trotted off and came back with a sword that looked rather delicate but had a sharp blade.

Dongfang Huaizhu reached out to take it. With a quick movement of her slender hand, she twirled the sword in a fancy way. Her delicate eyebrows wrinkled strangely. "Why does it feel so weird?"

"Maybe you just don't know how to twirl it!" Dongfang Qinlan laughed. "But sister, you could try to split a boulder with the sword and scare them all away."

"Stop it."

Rolling her eyes, Dongfang Huaizhu stood up and made a sword - dancing gesture. This body wasn't stiff, but for some reason, Dongfang Huaizhu always felt a strange sense of stiffness.

Looking down at her own hands, Dongfang Huaizhu twitched the corner of her mouth hard. Could it be that she was uncoordinated?

Refusing to admit defeat, she made a few more movements that she thought were okay. Dongfang Qinlan beside her was already laughing so hard that she was almost on the ground. "Sister, if you can't dance with a sword, don't force yourself. You look like a huge cockroach waving its big pincers."

"..."

Several black lines slid down her forehead. Dongfang Huaizhu looked depressed. "Then what do you think I should do to learn it in the shortest time?"

It would be easier for her to fight with those people. But now, asking her to dance with a sword was really frustrating!

Dongfang Qinlan immediately stopped smiling and frowned. "Sister, what's going on with you? Why do you have to learn how to dance with a sword so urgently?"

"I have my own reasons."

Dongfang Huaizhu raised the sword again and practiced, but after a long time, she still couldn't feel the smoothness.

"Bang!" She casually threw the sword on the ground. The sword made a buzzing sound, which was extremely harsh.

"Sister, have some tea."

Dongfang Qinlan poured a cup of tea for Dongfang Huaizhu herself. She looked curious. "Sister, don't tell me you want to learn how to dance with a sword and show it to Wangquan Baoye on the Double Seventh Festival?"

"Pfft!"

The tea she had just taken into her mouth sprayed out. Dongfang Huaizhu coughed softly. "Adult matters are none of your business, kid."

Really, how did Qinlan guess that she was going to dance with a sword with Wangquan Baoye? No, she mustn't admit it. Otherwise, in her sister's eyes, wouldn't she become a love - struck girl who was willing to do anything for a man?

"Tsk, sister's ears are red."

"Don't talk nonsense."

Glaring at Qinlan, Dongfang Huaizhu frowned. "Apart from my lack of familiarity with sword - dancing, this sword doesn't feel very comfortable in my hand either."

"I think your own problem is the biggest. You look like a flailing mantis when you dance with a sword."

Dongfang Qinlan was holding back her laughter. Seeing that Dongfang Huaizhu was a bit angry, she quickly said, "But it's not hopeless. After all, there's still some time until the Double Seventh Festival. I can make all the preparations now."

Glancing at the sword out of the corner of her eye, Dongfang Huaizhu let out a rather depressed sigh. "How can we make preparations?"

"Watch me."

Clapping her hands, Dongfang Qinlan called the servant in and ordered, "I'm bored. Call the sword - dancing girls in the villa to perform for us."

"Yes."

Dongfang Huaizhu raised her eyebrows slightly. For the sake of the Double Seventh Festival, she had to study hard.

Half an hour later, a dozen sword - dancing girls came in. They were extremely beautiful. Their colorful clothes fluttered, and every movement was full of charm.

The swords were like frost and snow, shining silver all around. They seemed like ordinary swords, but in their hands, they were as if given life. Every thrust and retraction was like a fairy floating on the wind.

Dongfang Huaizhu watched quietly for a while. Thinking that she had learned enough, she stepped forward and took the sword from the dancing girl's hand. "This sword is so light."

"This sword is called the Dragon - swimming Sword."

The pretty - looking dancing girl smiled and said respectfully, "Its blade is very curved. When dancing with it, it's like a swimming dragon, which can show the dancer's gentle and graceful posture."

"Really?"

Dongfang Huaizhu casually twirled the sword in a fancy way. She frowned secretly. It seemed that it wasn't just her own problem. She didn't feel comfortable using either of these two swords.

It seemed that to learn how to dance with a sword, besides mastering the standard movements, she also needed to find a suitable long sword...

There was no shortage of weapons in the Divine Fire Villa. After getting Jin Renfeng's permission, Dongfang Huaizhu and Dongfang Qinlan went to the weapon depot.

"I have to say, senior brother really has a lot of treasures."

"Yes!"

Dongfang Huaizhu casually picked up a sword, took a look, and then put it down. She looked at the other swords one by one. After more than a dozen rounds, she still couldn't find a suitable one.

Dongfang Qinlan got impatient and couldn't help complaining. "Sister, make a choice. Can't you find a single sword you like among so many?"

"I still haven't found one I like."

Letting out a soft sigh, Dongfang Huaizhu frowned. "How about we go to the market? Maybe we can find one that I'm used to using."

"The market?"

Dongfang Qinlan sneered and snorted. "The Divine Fire Villa is of such high status. If you don't like the swords here, you definitely won't like the shoddy ones outside."

Dongfang Huaizhu naturally understood what Qinlan meant, but she still wasn't willing to give up. "I just want to take a chance. Maybe I'll find one I like. Come on. Just accompany me to take a look."

Dongfang Qinlan liked excitement. She didn't refuse and agreed immediately. "Okay, okay. Who let you be my sister."

Although she didn't think Dongfang Huaizhu could find a suitable sword in the market...
