chapter 6 An Antique

"A kid's toy? Since when has your family been so extravagant?"

Under Shen Yi's puzzled gaze, Zhao Qishan exclaimed excitedly.

"A black and shabby brush. How could it be valuable?"

Shen Yi was completely at a loss, not knowing what he had said wrong. He looked at the brush from all angles but could only see its ugliness and nothing special.

"You're such a bookworm. Look at the craftsmanship, the carving, and the weight. Could it be an ordinary brush? Obviously, it's an antique. Do you understand what an antique is?!"

Shen Yi's words enraged Zhao Qishan. He held the brush and explained to Shen Yi, his voice filled with excitement.

He had been hunting for bargains in the antique market for years and rarely came across such a treasure. How lucky was Shen Yi? He was jealous.

Lying in the crib, Shen Nanyi finally felt relieved after hearing Zhao Qishan's words. She gave him a sweet smile. Finally, there was someone who recognized its value. She was overjoyed.

"One of my colleagues said before that there's no seal on it, so it's a fake. Are you really taking it seriously?"

Shen Yi didn't believe Zhao Qishan at all. He still remembered what his colleague had said and thought Zhao Qishan had made a mistake.

"Your colleague knows nothing. Come with me. I'll find someone with good eyesight to take a look!"

Hearing Shen Yi question his judgment, Zhao Qishan got even more excited. He grabbed Shen Yi and dragged him outside.

When they were almost at the door, Shen Yi stopped, went back to pick up Shen Nanyi, and took his daughter out.

Since he had nothing to do anyway, he might as well take Shen Nanyi out for a stroll to kill time.

After half a month, Shen Nanyi finally went out again. She looked around curiously, observing everything with great interest.

Thinking that they were about to find someone who really knew about antiques to appraise the brush, Shen Nanyi was in a great mood. She smiled all the way. Her cute and innocent appearance made Zhao Qishan start to yearn for a child of his own.

Zhao Qishan had been in the antique business for a long time and naturally had some connections. He led Shen Yi straight to an antique shop.

"Old Qian, I'd like to trouble you to take a look at something."

After entering the shop, Zhao Qishan wasn't polite at all. He directly called out to the shop owner. Judging from his tone, they seemed to be very familiar with each other.

"What good thing have you found this time, kid?"

The shop owner was a man in his sixties with a one - inch long beard. He looked somewhat elegant and amiable. He smiled at Zhao Qishan.

Zhao Qishan quickly handed over the brush in his hand. He was even more excited than Shen Yi.

When Qian Shu took the item, his expression didn't change much at first. But after a careful look, his expression changed. He took out the magnifying glass around his neck and examined it very carefully.

Shen Yi hadn't taken it seriously at first, but now seeing Qian Shu's reaction, he started to feel nervous.

"It's indeed a bamboo - carved brush with flower and bird patterns from the Wanli period. It's a pity the pen cap is missing."

After about ten minutes, Qian Shu finally spoke, his tone sounding a bit regretful.

In the antique business, a missing part makes a huge difference from a complete item, and the price gap is even more significant.

"May I ask how much this thing is worth?"

It took Shen Yi a full minute to react. He stammered as he spoke, not knowing how to describe his current mood.

His daughter had just picked up an antique on the ground? What amazing luck!

Since it was picked up on the ground, it shouldn't be very valuable, right?
