"Follow you?" Yazeb almost growled through gritted teeth. He held his long knife across Huyelu's neck, his eyes blazing with hatred. "You've used us for so long, and you still expect us to work for you? Who the hell do you think you are?"
"Without my cooperation, do you think your Loulan alone can fight against the Great Sheng? Don't even dream about it!" Huyelu sneered maliciously. "You have no choice but to rely on me now! Even if you know you've been used, so what? Even if you know so many people in Loulan died in vain, so what? Do you think the Qin family will listen to your explanations? Hatred has already taken root. You have no way out!"
Yazeb's face darkened. "Do you think I won't kill you right now?"
"Go ahead!" Huyelu glared at him and curled his lips. "Kill me, and then fight against the Great Sheng and us on your own? Or choose to continue cooperating with us and give your lowly people a chance to survive?"
"... " Yazeb gritted his teeth so hard that they rattled. His eyes were bloodshot, and the hatred in them was so intense that he seemed ready to tear the man in front of him to pieces.
"Hahaha! Have you figured it out?" Huyelu laughed maniacally. "Then let go of me quickly!"
Yazeb's hand trembled for a long time. He gritted his teeth, as if trying his best to restrain the urge to kill Huyelu. Finally, his tense body relaxed a little, and he took a slow step back.
"Humph!" Huyelu gave him a disdainful look and said coldly, "A bunch of lowly people, still trying to challenge me?"
Yazeb's face tightened. Just as he was about to say something, he suddenly felt a strong sense of killing intent. Years of battlefield experience made his body react faster than his mind. He jumped back abruptly, and then a black arrow shot in through the window and pierced straight into the floor where he had just been standing.
"!" Yazeb's pupils constricted sharply!
"Do you think I only brought a few people with me? Or do you think I'm as stupid as you?" Huyelu suddenly shouted. A dozen black - clothed men filed in through the doors and windows and surrounded Yazeb.
Huyelu let out a blood - thirsty laugh and said, "Since I've already been using you, why should I care about your lives?"
Yazeb broke out in a cold sweat.
Huyelu slowly raised his hand, ready to give the order.
"You think so, don't you?"
-
"Kala -"
The prison in Yuecheng was always built very solidly. As one of the northernmost large cities in the Protectorate, it had one of the highest crime rates in the region. Smuggling, bandit gangs, and foreign tribes... all kinds of cases emerged one after another. Before the Allied Forces occupied the city, there had been more than a hundred prisoners in this prison, but now all the prisoners had been dispersed. Only Qin Feng's cell was occupied in the huge prison.
Although Yazeb had drugged Qin Feng early on, Qin Huailian was still a little worried. She tiptoed towards Qin Feng's cell, deliberately lowering her breathing and footsteps. When she slowly moved to the cell door, she cautiously poked her head out and saw that the person in the room was sleeping soundly on the bed.
Qin Huailian felt a little more relaxed. Then she crouched down, picked up a small stone, and gently threw it in another direction.
The small stone hit the floor continuously, making a crisp sound.
Qin Huailian turned to look again. The person on the bed still lay motionless.
Only then did she completely relax. She slowly stood up, unlocked the cell with the key, and walked in.
Qin Huailian stood beside Qin Feng's bed, just like when she was a little girl and had made a mistake, waiting for her father's scolding. She stood quietly, only daring to glance at him from time to time.
In a while, Qin Huaiqiu would be brought here.
Everything she had done would be revealed by herself - the things she had done for the Qin family and the revenge she had taken for them.
She gritted her teeth and stood still in the dim prison, waiting quietly.
I don't know how long it had passed when there was a sudden rustling sound at the prison gate, as if something heavy was being dragged along. Qin Huailian trembled all over. She rushed out of the room and turned to look in the direction of the sound.
At the prison gate, a tall and thin figure walked in against the light. He moved a bit slowly because he was dragging something heavy in his hand and was moving forward step by step.
Because of the backlight and the dimness inside the prison, Qin Huailian couldn't see clearly.
It wasn't until the person got closer that Qin Huailian realized that it wasn't Yazeb but Kozel.
Qin Huailian was startled and shouted, "Why is it you? Where's Yazeb?"
Kozel gave her a cold look but didn't say a word.
Qin Huailian knew he was a mute. He was like a frog that would only move when prodded, and sometimes not even then. So she didn't bother to talk to him.
She looked down at the blood - soaked man that Kozel had dragged all the way. His long hair was disheveled, and his face couldn't be seen clearly. Qin Huailian just gave him a cold glance and then looked away - she didn't know which poor guy it was, and she didn't care.
"Once you catch a traitor, there's no need to lock him up in the prison. Just kill him directly," Qin Huailian said impatiently. A long time had passed, and for some reason, Yazeb still hadn't come, which made her irritated.
Kozel glanced at her, moved his body slightly, and then continued walking towards her.
"Tsk!" Qin Huailian turned around impatiently and roared, "Didn't you hear what I said?"
"Isn't this the person you're looking for?" Kozel suddenly said. The next second, he threw the blood - soaked man in front of Qin Huailian.
Qin Huailian was completely stunned.
It was as if her blood had instantly frozen. She stiffly moved her neck and looked down at the man covered in blood. Her eyes widened in an instant. After a moment of shock, she suddenly crouched down and turned the man over.
What she saw was a face covered in blood and dirt.
Even though the blood had coagulated on his face, Qin Huailian recognized the man at a glance.
"Brother? Brother!" Qin Huailian shouted. A huge wave of fear swept over her consciousness. She quickly hugged Qin Huaiqiu and shook him like a madwoman. Then she tremblingly reached out to feel his breath.
Thank goodness, he was still alive!
"How the hell did you do your job!" Qin Huailian almost roared, "Didn't I tell you to capture him alive?!"
Kozel shrugged his shoulders and still didn't say a word.
"Damn it! Do you think I won't kill you!" Qin Huailian hugged Qin Huaiqiu and roared at Kozel, "Hurry up and find a doctor to save him!"
For some reason, Kozel still stood there. He looked at the ferocious - faced Qin Huailian indifferently, showing not the slightest intention of moving.
"You..." Qin Huailian gritted her teeth. Her eyes were bloodshot, and her killing intent was obvious.
She must kill him! Qin Huailian thought so, but for now, she had to save Qin Huaiqiu first. She moved her body and was about to pick up Qin Huaiqiu when the man in her arms suddenly moved slightly. Then she heard a long - awaited call -
"... Lian... er?"
