Chapter 1: The Green-Clad Snake Demon

"Um—"

Hu Ke'er gently rubbed her temples and slowly woke up. What greeted her eyes was a strange environment.

"Where am I?"

Hu Ke'er slowly got up. After thinking for a while, her brows furrowed even tighter.

"It's really strange. I remember there was such a huge explosion before. It was almost a 100% death situation, but now I'm actually here unharmed."

"Forget it. I'll just find someone to ask about the situation. It would be great if I could also get something to eat and drink."

Although she hadn't figured out the current situation for the time being, Hu Ke'er still decided to take a look around first. If there was someone, she could ask and find out where she was.

Thinking like this, Hu Ke'er started to wander aimlessly. Only then did she realize that she was in a huge forest. After wandering for a long time, she felt tired and thirsty.

"What kind of ghost place is this? I've really had enough!"

The trees in this forest were all species that Hu Ke'er had never seen before, and so were the plants under her feet. The survival skills she had learned before were completely useless here.

"Um, is that a small river?"

Just after Hu Ke'er finished complaining, she saw a white reflection not far away. She immediately widened her eyes and ran straight towards the small river.

"So sweet!"

The cold river water flowed down Hu Ke'er's throat with a hint of sweetness.

"I didn't expect the river water to be sweet... Eh?"

After drinking the water, Hu Ke'er was slightly stunned when she saw her reflection in the river.

She seemed to have become much younger. Judging from her current appearance, she seemed to be only eighteen or nineteen years old.

"How could this be? Could it be that I've traveled through time?"

Looking at her pretty face, Hu Ke'er fell into deep thought.

If it was time - travel, it would make sense why she didn't die in the explosion. But even if she had really traveled through time, she shouldn't have become younger, right?

Could it be that she had traveled back in time? But she had never been to such a remote mountain forest before!

"Splash!"

Just as Hu Ke'er was having wild thoughts, a green light suddenly shot out of the small river in front of her and pounced towards her. Hu Ke'er was startled and instinctively dodged to the side, actually avoiding the pounce of the green light.

"Who are you?"

The green light gradually dissipated, and only then could Hu Ke'er see clearly that in front of her was a extremely slender girl in a green Hanfu.

It was strange enough that she had pounced out of the river, not to mention that she was wearing a green Hanfu. And more importantly, Hu Ke'er noticed that the girl wasn't even a bit wet.

Was this a cosplay? But it was really amazing that she wasn't wet at all. She wondered how such a magic trick was done.

"Miss, why are you alone in this remote mountain forest?"

The green - clad girl slightly raised the corners of her mouth, showing a smile.

"Remote mountain forest?"

When Hu Ke'er heard the green - clad girl mention the remote mountain forest, she frowned.

She had clearly been bombed just a second ago, and the next second she was in a remote mountain forest. This was simply too incredible.

"Um, I don't know how I got here either."

"I see. Then where are you going, miss? I'm very familiar with this place. How about I show you the way?"

Hearing Hu Ke'er's words, the green - clad girl giggled twice and said.

"I want to go home. I want to go to Shanghai. Do you know where Shanghai is, sister?"

"Shanghai? I know where it is. Come with me, miss!"

Hearing Hu Ke'er's words, the green - clad girl said with a smile.

"Really? That's great!"

Hu Ke'er exclaimed happily.

"Yeah, come with me!"

"Okay!"

The green - clad girl said and led the way with a smile. Hu Ke'er followed behind her. But after walking for a while, Hu Ke'er felt something was getting more and more wrong, because it seemed that she was walking into a more and more remote place.

"Two young ladies, where are you going?"

Just as Hu Ke'er was about to voice her doubts, a young man in a Taoist robe with a long sword on his back walked towards them.

When the green - clad girl saw the young Taoist, her eyes slightly froze and she didn't say a word.

"We're just going home."

Hu Ke'er replied softly.

"Going home?"

The young man frowned slightly when he heard Hu Ke'er's words.

"But this is clearly the way up the mountain!"

"The way up the mountain?"

Hearing the young man's words, Hu Ke'er frowned and looked at the green - clad girl.

"Oops, I remembered wrong. We should go that way."

After saying that, the green - clad girl immediately pulled Hu Ke'er around.

"Wait!"

Seeing this, the young man immediately shouted to stop them, then appeared in front of the two and stared fixedly at the green - clad girl.

"Miss, you're as beautiful as a celestial being. You're so beautiful that you don't seem like a human. Is there really such a beautiful woman in the world?"

Not a human? Hearing the young man's words, Hu Ke'er frowned slightly. Even though the green - clad sister looked quite beautiful, it wasn't to this extent. She didn't expect this Taoist priest to be so lecherous!

"Sir Taoist, you're really good at joking. Where do I look like I'm not a human?"

A look of panic flashed across the green - clad girl's face. Then she gritted her teeth slightly and forced herself to remain calm.

"Really? Then please try this."

After saying that, the young man took a gourd from his waist. After opening the gourd, there was a strong smell of yellow rice wine.

"Sir Taoist, it's not convenient for a young woman like me to drink in this remote mountain forest."

"Who said you should drink it?"

The young man sneered, then threw the gourd in his hand at the green - clad girl fiercely.

"Sizzle!"

"Ah!"

As the realgar wine landed on the green - clad girl, a puff of white smoke rose, and a shrill scream rang in Hu Ke'er's ears.

When Hu Ke'er looked in the direction of the sound, she actually saw a huge green snake.

"Wow! You... you're a snake demon!"

Only then did Hu Ke'er understand the real meaning of what the young man had said about "not a human" when she saw the huge green snake.

Hu Ke'er was startled. Just as she was about to step back, she felt a tightness around her waist. When she looked down, she found that her waist had been tightly wrapped by the green snake's body, and the binding force was constantly increasing, making Hu Ke'er feel a sharp pain.

"It hurts so much!"

"Hiss— I didn't expect you, this stinky Taoist priest, to be able to see through my transformation at such a young age!"

The green snake stuck out its black snake - tongue and raised its head.

"Humph, cheap tricks. You dare to show off your skills in front of me. I've long seen that you're not human!"

The young man snorted coldly and also stared fixedly at the huge green snake.

"So what if you've seen through it? Do you think you can beat me? I've set my mind on eating this girl today. Stinky Taoist priest, don't get in my way, or I'll eat you too!"

After saying that, the green snake lifted Hu Ke'er high up and then threw her towards its gaping jaws.

"Don't! Help!"
