Chapter 2 The Will

It was quite a while before the girl inside walked out.

She was holding a roll of toilet paper in her hand. As she walked, she tore off a piece to blow her nose. After that, she casually tossed the wadded paper onto the ground.

This was how she first met Mu Yuze.

Mu Yuze, who was standing outside the door, watched her for a moment but didn't say a word.

"Do you have something to talk to me about?"

The girl's hair was in a mess, and her appearance was slovenly. Maybe due to a cold, her nose was bright red, and her voice was nasally.

"Miss Lu Xue, this is our young master," the driver said respectfully as always.

The girl opened the inner door and then a wooden gate. She looked at the two faces in front of her rather warily.

The business card was still in the driver's hand. She didn't take it but just glanced at the name on it briefly.

Well, the name did sound nice. But she didn't know this person.

"… Just say what you want to say here at the door," the girl leaned against the doorframe, showing no intention of inviting them in.

The driver cast a hesitant look at his young master.

Since he couldn't figure out the girl's temper, he had to speak up.

"… Well, our young master is Mu Yuze, the heir of the Mu Group. I believe you may have heard his name in the newspapers or on the news…"

"Atishoo!"

Suddenly, the girl let out a loud sneeze, and then a long string of sticky mucus shot out of her nose, hanging in mid - air.

The driver's hand trembled, and he instinctively pulled the business card back.

The girl quickly tore off a piece of toilet paper and wiped her nose.

After that, she looked up, confusedly at the driver who had stopped speaking. "… Well, go on."

The driver's lips twitched slightly, but with his professional qualities, he continued in a trembling voice.

"… Well… Our young master came here this time to follow his great - grandfather's will and take back the daughter of an old acquaintance who once saved his great - grandfather's life…"

"Atishoo!!"

This sneeze was even more violent!

A black bird on the roof was startled and flew away.

The driver instinctively stepped aside in horror and watched as the snot droplets bounced in mid - air and landed on the collar of his young master's suit behind him.

His legs trembled in fear, and he didn't dare to look at Mu Yuze's face.

The young master's mysophobia was extremely severe. There were probably billions of vibrant bacteria fermenting on those two snot droplets.

"… Sorry. The water heater broke down these days, and I caught a cold," the girl wiped her nose and casually explained. "Go on. I'm listening."

Although the driver continued speaking in a trembling voice, his eyes involuntarily glanced at his young master.

"… Well… We've been searching and investigating for half a year to find the daughter of the benefactor mentioned in the will…"

The driver was trembling nervously as he carefully stole a glance at his young master.

He originally thought the young master would fly into a rage on the spot, but unexpectedly, Mu Yuze just stood there quietly, calm as a mountain. After gently taking out the handmade silk handkerchief from his left chest and wiping it, he continued to focus his gaze on Lu Xue.

"… So…"

The girl in front of her had already reached the last loop of the toilet paper roll. She calmly finished the rest of the driver's sentence for him.

"I'm the person in the will you're looking for, right?"

Neither Mu Yuze nor the driver had expected the girl to accept such a clichéd plot so calmly and quickly. They were both slightly taken aback.

"Yes, yes, yes. That's right," the driver rubbed his hands. "Fifteen years ago, the collapse of Hongqiao Bridge was a huge incident. Your father saved our young master's great - grandfather's life at that time but lost his own in the lake. Before the old man passed away, he knew that your father had a seven - year - old orphan daughter, so he left a will to find you and take you back to raise you as his own daughter."

Lu Xue casually made a couple of non - committal sounds, her attention focused on the toilet paper roll.

There was only the last loop left. If she used it sparingly, she could still cut it in half.

When talking about the past, the driver sighed.

"It's a pity that we only learned about this clause in the will until now. As soon as we found out, we sent people to look for you, but it still took us half a year… According to the information we found, after your father's accident, your mother soon passed away from grief. Miss Lu, you seem to have grown up in an orphanage, right?"

"If we could have found you earlier and taken you back, you probably wouldn't have had to suffer so much. You could have received the best education, studied the best majors, and grown up in luxury and without worries like an ordinary young lady!"

Lu Xue finished rolling up the last piece of paper and just replied, "It's okay. Anyway, I've grown up."

The driver looked at his young master.

"Fortunately, we've found you now. The whole family is looking forward to meeting you, Miss Lu! You don't have to have any concerns at all. The old master's will has absolute authority in the family, and no one would dare to object…"

Lu Xue: "I see."

She had already turned around and started walking back. But when she was halfway there, she saw the two still standing at the door. She asked in confusion.

"… Do you still have something to say?"

Driver: "…"

Mu Yuze: "…"
