Chapter 7: Meeting an Acquaintance

Lu Xue didn't understand why they were looking at her with such strange expressions.

She thought for a while.

...Could it be that she had used too much hot water?

After all, she was a guest in someone else's house. It seemed she had to be more reserved.

She silently went to the kitchen in search of food. After her figure disappeared, Mu Ziyue finally came to her senses.

"Damn it! How much dirt has this woman been slathering on her face all these years?"

For someone like her who got a hydrating, exfoliating, and moisturizing treatment every three to five days and even changed the color of her nail polish regularly, Lu Xue's behavior was simply unbearable!

Ding Muyun didn't look too happy either, but she still spoke gently.

"...It seems that Miss Lu Xue has quite a talent. It's a pity that she grew up in poverty all these years. It would be better if she could receive more education."

Mu Ziyue was riled up: "Someone like her receiving education? Anyway, I still don't agree! I will never allow her to become a member of our family!"

Mu Yuze rubbed the ring on his index finger with his thumb. His expression remained unchanged as he simply looked up at the butler.

"Assistant Yan should be here. He made an appointment for eleven o'clock."

Butler: "Assistant Yan is waiting in the outer hall. Do you want to see him now?"

"Call him in."

"Sure."

Yan Hua walked in, holding a stack of documents in his arms.

"Mr. Mu, there's new progress on the cooperation plan for the art exhibition we've been following up on recently."

Seeing that Mu Yuze had started discussing business matters, the two girls knew it would be pointless to stay here and keep harping on about Lu Xue. They got up dejectedly and left.

Mu Yuze looked up and let out a soft grunt.

"What are their requirements?"

Yan Hua: " ...The Paris Specialty Art Exhibition can be held smoothly. However, since our brand has just entered the market, we need some well - known artists to lend their support. Here is a list of artists I've screened who we could potentially cooperate with."

Mu Yuze quietly flipped through the documents until he reached the last page. At the bottom, he saw a code name.

This code name consisted of only two letters, LU. The photo beside it was blank, and there was very little resume information. In terms of length, it was probably the most easily overlooked entry on the list.

But Mu Yuze's gaze lingered on it for a long time.

Yan Hua knew very well that this was the artist his boss most wanted to invite.

LU, an American - born artist, had shot to fame at an Italian art exhibition two years ago and had since become the object of media attention. However, this artist was extremely low - key. No one had ever seen his or her true face, and it was extremely difficult to dig out more personal information.

A project team from one of the company's departments had spent two months traveling to the US and Italy to track down this artist, but so far, they had found nothing.

In the end, all that was left on this page of information was just a meager two sentences.

"Mr. Mu, I've already had people continue to follow up on all of LU's movements, hoping to establish some form of contact. If we could invite this artist when our brand is just entering the market, I think our new products would definitely be a huge hit."

Mu Yuze let out a grunt.

He knew that although Yan Hua said so, the actual probability was very slim.

"Let's go. To the company." He stood up.

After two days of running around, a mountain of work had piled up in the company.

Mu Yuze and Yan Hua walked out side by side. As they passed by the kitchen, they saw a girl inside wolfing down her food.

The maid was standing beside her, her face full of concern.

"Oh, miss, eat slowly... There's more if you're still hungry... Don't choke. Slow down, slow down..."

The maid seemed to be looking at a poor little girl who had been hungry for days on the street. She fetched water for Lu Xue and patted her on the back.

"I told you you'd choke. Oh, miss, no one's going to fight you for it. These are just leftovers from last night..."

Lu Xue's mouth was full. Her cheeks puffed out as she managed to squeeze out a few words: "Wow... This is... So delicious..."

Mu Yuze was used to this and continued walking forward, but Yan Hua was stunned.

It was the first time he'd ever seen someone eating like this in the Mu residence.

But what surprised him even more was that when he looked into Lu Xue's face, a bell seemed to go off in his head.

"...You..."

With her cheeks puffed out, Lu Xue also saw him. Her eyes lit up as she said indistinctly: " ...Yan Yan Yan Yan..."

Realization dawned on both of their faces, and they both had the same "Why are you here?" expression.

Mu Yuze, who was walking in front, stopped.

"...Aren't you coming?"

He thought Yan Hua was just shocked by the girl's eating style.

"Let her eat slowly. Stop staring."

Yan Hua quickly caught up: "Oh, okay."

As he walked behind Mu Yuze, he couldn't help but mutter to himself.

Wasn't this Lu Xue?

Why was she here?
