Mu Ziyue immediately retorted defiantly, "Impossible! Lu Xue is not the kind of person you described."
Ding Muyun probed subtly, "If so, could you show me her paintings? I'd like to get an idea of the level of her works."
"No. The works are not supposed to be made public," Mu Ziyue said right away.
Ding Muyun looked a bit displeased.
She didn't expect this carefree girl to be so wary of her.
She said, "Don't worry. Just show them to me for a look. I won't take them away."
"This..."
"I just want to take a look and get to know her works. I won't disclose them. Otherwise, I'll really suspect that you might be taken advantage of by her."
Mu Ziyue was indignant. To prove Lu Xue's innocence, she agreed to Ding Muyun.
"Okay then. Two days later, I'll print out the photos of her works in an album and show them to you."
After saying this, she cast a defiant glance at Ding Muyun.
"Remember what you said about her today. I'll make you apologize for your words later!"
Ding Muyun said with a smile, "Sure, sure. I'll apologize if her works can really convince me."
...
Two days later, Mu Ziyue did print the photos of Lu Xue's works into an album and came to find Ding Muyun.
Ding Muyun sat beside her, sipping tea while casually flipping through the album.
After finishing, she said nonchalantly, "That's all. I thought it would be much better."
Mu Ziyue got angry. "Is 'that's all' all you can say about such wonderful paintings? Can you even understand them?"
Ding Muyun tried to soothe her. "Don't be angry. Maybe I just glanced through them too carelessly. Let me take a closer look."
Saying this, she put down the teacup and said to Mu Ziyue, "The light here is too dim. I can't see clearly. Could you go to the door and turn on the light for me?"
Mu Ziyue stomped off to turn on the light.
She wasn't very familiar with Ding Muyun's house and couldn't find the switch at the door after searching for a long time.
She fumbled around for a while. "Where is it?"
"It's right there," Ding Muyun glanced in that direction. While Mu Ziyue was looking for the switch, she quickly took out her phone and started taking pictures of the photos one by one.
As she took the pictures, she said, "It seems not by the door. Maybe it's on the inner wall. Look for it."
Mu Ziyue searched around the whole place under Ding Muyun's instructions but still couldn't find the switch.
By this time, Ding Muyun had taken pictures of all the photos.
She put down the album, put away her phone, and then pretended to just remember something as she said to Mu Ziyue, "I just remembered. The switch is on the wall beside me. I'll turn it on myself."
Saying this, she pressed the switch, and the whole room was brightly lit.
Mu Ziyue stomped back to her side and said, "Now you can see clearly, right?"
Ding Muyun casually flipped through the album again from beginning to end and said, "It's really much better than I expected. It seems I underestimated Lu Xue."
"I told you so," Mu Ziyue said.
She snapped the album shut and said, "From now on, you're not allowed to say such things anymore."
Ding Muyun just sat there smiling, watching Mu Ziyue stomp away with the album in her arms.
She thought to herself that a young girl was still a young girl after all. She was no match for her in terms of schemes.
She waited until Mu Ziyue had left before taking out her phone to look at the photos she had just taken.
To be fair, she was a bit surprised when she first saw these photos.
If Mu Ziyue hadn't told her in advance that she would bring Lu Xue's works to show her, she would have almost suspected that these were just something cobbled together from some clip - art pictures or magazines.
These works did look very professional at first glance, but were they really painted by Lu Xue?
Whether Mu Ziyue believed it or not, Ding Muyun didn't believe it. She made a few phone calls to make an appointment with some people and then got up and went out.
Half an hour later, she arrived at her best friend's house and slapped the newly - printed things on the table.
Several of her friends gathered around and asked, "What's this?"
Ding Muyun sneered and said, "Supposedly these are Lu Xue's works. Take a look. The pictures are still quite clear as I just printed them out."
Everyone gathered around and flipped through them, all showing surprise.
"Didn't you say Lu Xue is just a country girl? How could she paint such things! Maybe she just cut them out from some magazines!"
Surprisingly, everyone had the same thought. Ding Muyun became even more convinced of her own suspicion.
"I don't believe these were painted by her! But it's not surprising. Since she didn't want to be laughed at, of course she cobbled together some professional works to make up the numbers. Anyway, Mu Yuze will spend money to deal with the media for her, and Mu Ziyue will always side with her. She can do whatever she wants without any scruples."
