Chapter 390: The King of the Grassland Arrives - Part 5

The King of the Grassland acted so swiftly that he had set his eyes on them as soon as they arrived.

However, Jing Xunchao didn't tell Mu Fengqie about this.

The King of the Grassland looked at Mu Fengqie's face with a complex expression. She looked so much like her! He never thought that he would see someone who resembled her so closely in his lifetime.

"Go and investigate all the information about the woman beside Jing Xunchao. I want everything," the King of the Grassland ordered calmly as he watched Mu Fengqie and the others.

There was no sound around, only the branches rustling.

"I never thought that even after all these years, I still can't forget you," the King of the Grassland murmured, looking into the distance with a nostalgic look on his face.

"Ache, what are you doing?" Mu Fengqie looked at Jing Xunchao, confused about his hasty departure.

"It's nothing, Qier. Let's go and have a look at other stalls," Jing Xunchao said, trying to pull Mu Fengqie along, but he failed.

"You're hiding something from me," Mu Fengqie said firmly. "Did you see the King of the Grassland?"

The smile on Jing Xunchao's face froze for a moment. He didn't expect Qier to notice so quickly. "Qier, I just didn't want you to worry," he sighed helplessly.

"What do I have to worry about? This is your business. I'm just here for fun today," Mu Fengqie said indifferently. Since Jing Xunchao didn't want her to get involved, she'd just watch from the sidelines.

"Okay," Jing Xunchao said with a smile. This way, he could focus on dealing with the King of the Grassland.

However, even though Mu Fengqie didn't want to get involved, someone forced her to.

Mu Fengqie and Jing Xunchao spent the whole day there without running into the King of the Grassland, but they weren't discouraged. They knew that the King of the Grassland was a very shrewd man, and he had sent someone to follow them all day.

They would surely see him soon. It was just a matter of time. They would come back tomorrow to do all the things they hadn't done and taste all the food they hadn't tried.

Mu Fengqie was very happy today because it had been a long time since she last had such a good time.

"Qier, go to bed early. We'll go there again tomorrow," Jing Xunchao said as he sent Mu Fengqie to her room. He had something to attend to and had to leave for a while.

"Okay. You come back early too," Mu Fengqie said, knowing that Jing Xunchao had other things to do.

Looking at their conversation, Jing Xunchao felt as if they were an old married couple.

"Okay," Jing Xunchao said, waiting until Mu Fengqie went into the room before leaving. Then he turned around and went to find Yuan Yuhan.

Yuan Yuhan was annoyed when he saw the person who came to bother him at night. "What on earth do you want? Can't you sleep at night?" If Jing Xunchao couldn't give him a good reason, he'd surely fight him.

"I went to the city gate today," Jing Xunchao rolled his eyes at Yuan Yuhan. It wasn't like he wanted to come and see him. He also wanted to hold his wife and go to sleep early.

"What happened?" Yuan Yuhan immediately perked up when he heard it was something serious.

"We didn't see the King of the Grassland today, but he kept an eye on us all day," Jing Xunchao said.

Yuan Yuhan's eyes widened in surprise. It seemed that the King of the Grassland was more difficult to deal with than they had thought.

"So what are you going to do?" This was a tricky situation. It would be too embarrassing if word got out that they had been watched on their own territory.

Jing Xunchao replied, "We'll go again tomorrow. The King of the Grassland hasn't made any move yet, but if we give up now, we might be in a passive position later."

Yuan Yuhan thought for a while and agreed with Jing Xunchao. He didn't object. "You two must be careful. If there's any danger, you must protect Fengqie."

If Aru found out that her elder sister was in trouble, she would be heartbroken. So Mu Fengqie mustn't get hurt.

At first, Jing Xunchao nodded absent-mindedly, but then he suddenly froze. He stared at Yuan Yuhan intently. "What did you say?" Did Yuan Yuhan have feelings for his Qier?

If that was the case, he wouldn't mind turning against his brother.

Yuan Yuhan knew that Jing Xunchao had misunderstood him when he saw his expression. He sighed helplessly. "I just meant that I'm worried Aru will be sad if something happens to Fengqie. What are you thinking?"

"Humph! I hope so," Jing Xunchao said coldly, giving Yuan Yuhan a disdainful look before leaving. He didn't want to see this person anymore.

Yuan Yuhan watched Jing Xunchao's retreating figure, feeling utterly bewildered. He was just lucky that he had a good temper. If it were someone else, they would have fought him on the spot.

When Jing Xunchao returned, Mu Fengqie was already sound asleep. She was really tired after a whole day of playing. Jing Xunchao got into bed quietly and gently pulled Mu Fengqie into his arms.

He breathed in the fragrance of her body and gradually fell asleep.

"What time did you come back last night?" Mu Fengqie asked as soon as she opened her eyes and saw Jing Xunchao lying beside her, looking at her intently. She had slept so soundly last night that she didn't hear a thing when Jing Xunchao came back.

"I didn't pay much attention. But you were already asleep when I came back, so I didn't want to wake you up," Jing Xunchao said, kissing Mu Fengqie on the forehead before getting dressed and getting out of bed.

"When shall we go out today?" Mu Fengqie asked, looking at the man who was completely unashamed in front of her.

"Whenever you want, Qier. When would you like to go?" Jing Xunchao didn't really care. The King of the Grassland wasn't going anywhere.

"Let's go after breakfast. We won't come back for lunch. We'll just eat there," Mu Fengqie said, her eyes lighting up.

She had seen a wonton stall yesterday. It had been a long time since she last had wontons, and she wanted to have a taste.

"Okay. I'll do as you say," Jing Xunchao replied.

After breakfast, they set off. This time, they went straight to the center of the street. There were even more people than yesterday, and the things on sale were getting more and more exquisite.

"Ache, come here," Mu Fengqie called out, waving to Jing Xunchao with a white mask in her hand.

Jing Xunchao obediently walked over and bent down cooperatively. Mu Fengqie couldn't help but sigh at how good-looking Jing Xunchao looked in the mask. Sure enough, good-looking people looked good in anything.

"You look so handsome," Mu Fengqie said, looking at Jing Xunchao with admiration in her eyes. Jing Xunchao hooked his lips into a smile and bought the mask. It was a gift from Qier, and he would cherish it.

Jing Xunchao also chose a little fox mask for Mu Fengqie and put it on her face. It made her look even more lively.
