Chapter 46: No Need to Come Up

Gu Ruobai was the first to react. He grabbed a boatman by the collar and threw him off the boat. "Go and fish Miss Su out," he ordered.

The boatman trembled with fear in the water and was about to say something when Gu Ruobai threw all the remaining boatmen into the water. "Whoever finds Su Mingyu will be rewarded with a hundred taels of silver. If you don't find her, you don't need to come up," he threatened.

As seconds ticked by and the boatmen had come up for air twice, there was little hope that Su Mingyu was still alive.

Su Yueyue, suppressing her inner joy, leaned on the King of Yu, sobbing. "Your Highness, you must seek justice for this humble girl. My elder sister died so unjustly!"

The King of Yu's face darkened. No matter how out of favor Su Mingyu was, she was still the legitimate daughter of Minister Su. The other injured were all the children of high - ranking officials and nobles, or rising stars in the court.

Offending any of them because of this incident would be a loss for him.

The King of Yu slapped the table hard. "Guards! Investigate for me! Find out who disrupted this poetry gathering!"

The guards searched like headless flies for a long time but found no clues. Su Yueyue, with an expression of putting the overall situation first, consoled the King of Yu. "Your Highness, there are quite a few injured on the boat. How about we sail the boat to the shore and find a doctor to treat them?"

"We can leave a small boat here waiting for them to continue the search. So many young masters and ladies have been frightened. They can't keep waiting for my elder sister here, right?"

As she spoke, Su Yueyue's eyes turned red. "My elder sister has shown no sign for so long. She's probably gone. Yueyue only hopes that Your Highness can find the person who killed my elder sister soon and avenge her!"

Seeing Su Yueyue crying so prettily and showing concern for him, the King of Yu softened his heart and pulled her into his arms. "Don't worry. I will surely find the murderer!"

Then he gave the order to return.

On the way back, Su Yueyue and the King of Yu supported each other, looking like a loving couple.

Feeling the envious looks of others, Su Yueyue lowered her head, her ear tips blushing, but her eyes were filled with a proud glint.

Damn Su Mingyu. Finally, she was eliminated!

Gu Ruobai sat on the shore, closely watching the situation.

But after waiting for a long time, the boatmen were too exhausted to dive anymore, and they still hadn't found Su Mingyu's body.

Just as people were about to leave, the King of Yu came up to Gu Ruobai. "Your Highness the Prince of Ruixian is truly deeply in love with Miss Su," he sneered.

Gu Ruobai didn't even lift his eyelids. "She's staying at my place. Naturally, I'm responsible for her."

Pointing at the struggling boatmen by the lake, Gu Ruobai said coldly, "Those useless wretches can just drown. I'll trouble Your Highness the King of Yu to handle today's matter carefully. Then I can give an explanation to the Su Mansion."

The King of Yu raised an eyebrow. "Of course."

Then he gave a look to his attendant. "Don't let them come ashore."

Gu Ruobai didn't even glance at the miserable state of the boatmen and got into his carriage back to the mansion on his own.

It was impossible for an ordinary boatman to hold their breath for so long underwater.

Mu Yi saw Gu Ruobai's gloomy face and his own face wrinkled like a bun. "My lord... what should we do?"

Although he didn't like Su Mingyu very much, he still felt a bit uncomfortable seeing a living person disappear like this.

Gu Ruobai stared coldly at the floor of the carriage, his face as dark as if it could drip water. "Find out the organization behind those boatmen. I'm going to wipe them out!"

Seeing Gu Ruobai's sinister expression, Mu Yi's heart sank to the bottom.

His master was really angry.

Even when his leg was almost crippled by someone's scheme, his master just gave a calm smile.

But now, for Su Mingyu, Gu Ruobai was actually angry?

However, there was probably no one else in the world who could make his master smile so unguarded.

Mu Yi secretly made up his mind that he must help his master find the mastermind!

"My lord, should we investigate the backgrounds of all the people who came today?"

Gu Ruobai glanced sideways at Mu Yi.

Just one look made Mu Yi freeze and stop breathing. The darkness in his master's eyes almost made Mu Yi suffocate.

Just when Mu Yi thought he was going to choke, he heard Gu Ruobai say in a voice cold enough to freeze water. "No need. I know who wants to harm her."

Mu Yi was stunned. "Then..."

Before he could finish, Gu Ruobai interrupted him coldly. "I'll handle this matter myself."

His usually patient master was actually going to take the initiative?

He opened his mouth but finally said nothing. He had no right to interfere in his master's affairs. All he could do was follow the orders.

In front of the Prince of Ruixian's Mansion, Zhizhu had been waiting at the gate for a long time.

When Gu Ruobai saw her, he paused.

Zhizhu tilted her head and waited for a long time but didn't see her young lady. She took a few quick steps forward and asked, "Your Highness, where's the young lady?"

Gu Ruobai looked at her innocent face, was silent for a while, and finally flicked a pebble with his index finger, hitting Zhizhu's side neck precisely. Zhizhu tilted her head and fainted.

Mu Yi quickly caught her. "My lord..."

Gu Ruobai rolled his wheelchair forward on his own. "Take her in first."

Gu Ruobai sent all the servants away and sat alone in the pavilion in the tea garden, looking at the camellias in the garden but having no mood to appreciate them.

The Prince of Ruixian's Mansion, which was the same as usual, now seemed a bit desolate.

Not finding a body in the lake today wasn't too bad. At least there was still a glimmer of hope.

But the lake was not a flowing one. After such a long search, Su Mingyu was still missing. If she was really alive, where could she be?

Just as he was thinking, there was a rustling sound from the grass outside the tea tree garden.

Gu Ruobai lightly ran his index finger through the tea on the table and then flicked it. A tiny water droplet hung in the air.

With a sweep of his palm wind, the water droplet shot like an arrow towards the grass.
