Zhizhu looked puzzled. When she took a closer look at the dress, her face sank. "Miss, isn't this Madam's wedding dress?"
Su Mingyu nodded. "Just do as I say. Leave the rest to me."
For some reason, looking at Su Mingyu's expression, Zhizhu had a feeling that she was about to do something extraordinary.
Early the next morning, Su Mingyu took Zhizhu out of the mansion. She didn't go to the Prince Ruixian's Mansion, nor to Sinan Pavilion, and not even to that pawnshop. It seemed as if she was just strolling casually on the street.
Zhizhu was a bit confused about Su Mingyu's actions. "Miss, you've always disliked strolling in the market. Why have you been wandering around for so long today?"
Su Mingyu didn't answer her. She just casually glanced at the things on the stalls and shops beside her.
Seeing that she didn't say anything, Zhizhu didn't press further. She just quietly followed behind her.
As they walked, Zhizhu suddenly noticed something was wrong. She grabbed Su Mingyu and asked with a worried look on her face, "Miss, what are you up to? You asked about Master Ye yesterday. Are you planning to go back to the Ye Family?"
"That's impossible. Back then, Madam had such a big feud with the Ye Family. They said they'd never have anything to do with each other again."
Zhizhu's face turned ugly. "Back then, Madam was tortured by the master in the Su Mansion, but not a single person from the Ye Family came to visit. Even after Madam died a tragic death, no one from the Ye Family came to pay their respects."
Su Mingyu patted her on the shoulder, signaling her not to be so excited. "I just happened to pass by here. What's wrong with you?"
"Besides, I'm a granddaughter of the Ye Family. Do you think they'll drive me out if I go back?"
Zhizhu looked at Su Mingyu with a complicated expression and then twitched the corner of her mouth. "Considering how bad the relationship was between Madam and Master Ye back then, it wouldn't be surprising if they drove you out."
"Whose side are you on anyway?" Su Mingyu rolled her eyes helplessly. "Why do I feel like you're always taking the Ye Family's side?"
Zhizhu nodded seriously. "Of course I'm on your side, Miss. But I'm also worried that you'll do something irrational and get hurt."
Su Mingyu let out a soft sigh. "First of all, I really just passed by here by accident. Secondly, I don't think it'll be as tragic as you said even if I go back to the Ye Family. After all, that was the feud of the previous generation. It's not my turn to pay for my mother's debt, right?"
Zhizhu still felt uneasy. Just as she was about to persuade Su Mingyu not to get any closer to the Ye Family, a group of hooligans suddenly surrounded them out of nowhere.
Zhizhu turned pale with fright. Her legs started to tremble, but she still spread her arms and protected Su Mingyu behind her. "Who are you?"
One of the burly men stroked his beard and leered at Su Mingyu from head to toe. "Oh, which family's young miss is this? She's really pretty."
Su Mingyu rolled her eyes in her heart. Such a cliché plot. Even TV dramas nowadays wouldn't play like this.
Su Mingyu pulled Zhizhu behind her to protect her. She looked up at the burly man and said coldly, "Who do you think you are? Do you have the right to know who I am?"
The burly man seemed surprised that this seemingly frail girl could speak so sharply. He was stunned for a moment, and then his smile became even more lewd.
"Come with me, and you'll know who I am."
Su Mingyu snorted at him. "Do you really think I'm a fool? You dare to surround me like this on the street. If I follow you and accidentally end up in an alley, won't I be doomed?"
"Hey, this little girl is quite vigilant." The burly man rubbed his face. "I like wild cats like you."
"If you come with me now, I guarantee I won't hurt you at all. But if we start fighting later, I can't guarantee that your beautiful face won't get hurt."
Su Mingyu raised her eyebrows and smiled. "Under the bright sky and in the capital city, I'd like to see how you're going to take me away."
Seeing that the girl wouldn't give in, the burly man waved his hand and told his minions to surround her.
Seeing the men surrounding them, Zhizhu was so scared that she was trembling all over and couldn't even speak. But she still tightly held Su Mingyu's hand.
"Miss, later I'll hug that man's leg. You run away quickly."
Su Mingyu didn't expect Zhizhu to be so loyal at this critical moment. She hooked her lips and smiled. "With your strength, you'll be beaten up before you can even hug his leg. Just stand behind me. I'll protect you."
After saying that, Su Mingyu suddenly reached into her bosom and threw something hard towards the street behind her. "Come and pick up the silver! There's a lot of silver here!"
With Su Mingyu's shout, all the people in the market who had been indifferent rushed over. Seeing that there was really a lot of broken silver on the ground, they all scrambled for it.
In the crowd's rush, the burly man's minions were soon pushed aside. Su Mingyu seized this opportunity, grabbed Zhizhu's hand, and ran into the crowd.
The burly man's face turned green with anger when he saw this. He roared, "Catch that woman for me!"
But there were more and more people coming to pick up the silver, and he only had a few minions. He was simply powerless and could only watch as Su Mingyu pulled Zhizhu disappear into the crowd.
Su Mingyu pulled Zhizhu's hand and ran all the way. She didn't even notice a tall and big figure in front of her.
She bumped right into his arms, and both Su Mingyu and the man fell to the ground.
Su Mingyu quickly got up from the ground. She reached out her hand apologetically, trying to pull the man up. "I'm sorry. It's all my fault for being so reckless."
The man who was knocked down was obviously in a bad mood. He glared at Su Mingyu coldly. "Don't you have eyes? There's such a wide road, but you have to bump into me!"
Su Mingyu bowed her head apologetically again. "I'm really sorry. I was just too panicked just now..."
Before she could finish speaking, Zhizhu rushed up and pulled Su Mingyu to her side. She nervously looked Su Mingyu over. "Miss, are you okay? Did those thieves do anything to you just now?"
Su Mingyu shook her head to show that she was okay. "What about you? You ran so fast just now. Are you hurt?"
"I'm so useless. When I met those hooligans, I still had to rely on you to protect me." Zhizhu was very depressed. "I'm sorry, Miss. It's all my fault for being so useless."
