Chapter 308: Another Mishap

Su Mingyu shrugged innocently. "I'd like to know too. How could there be such big fish in your pond? It scared me to death."

As she spoke, Su Mingyu patted her chest as if she had really been frightened. "Moreover, didn't you say I could fish wherever I wanted? Now, are you going to scold me?"

"You!" Kang Zeyan had casually nodded in agreement before because he was too lazy to talk to Su Mingyu. Now, he was being blocked by her words.

He wanted to say something, but looking at Su Mingyu's expression, the words died on his lips. Finally, he flung his sleeve and turned to leave.

With just a few words, Su Mingyu had angered Kang Zeyan to the point that he turned to leave. Su Mingyu squinted her eyes and quickly called out to him, "Young Master Kang!"

Kang Zeyan's face darkened. "What now?"

Su Mingyu pointed at Gu Ruobai beside her. "This lad has good eyesight. I want him."

Kang Zeyan looked at Gu Ruobai and coldly asked, "Are you the one who escorted Su Mingyu here?"

Gu Ruobai lowered his head, pretending to be humble. "Yes."

"Then you can follow her," Kang Zeyan said impatiently. "Just keep an eye on this woman for me so that she doesn't cause any more trouble."

Gu Ruobai nodded. "Yes, my lord."

Kang Zeyan glared at Su Mingyu one last time before turning away.

After Kang Zeyan left, Su Mingyu stood up as if nothing had happened. Then she patted Gu Ruobai on the chest. "Do a good job!"

Then she looked at the maidservant standing beside them, pale with fear. "Come on, take me to change my clothes."

In the bedroom, Su Mingyu was drawing something on the desk when suddenly there was a knock on the door.

When she opened it, it was Gu Ruobai. Su Mingyu squinted her eyes. "Do you need something?"

Gu Ruobai glanced around to make sure no one was following, then he pushed Su Mingyu into the room and closed the door behind him. "Why are you so reckless!"

Jumping directly into the lake to look for the mechanism. If Kang Zeyan found out, who knew what would happen.

Su Mingyu immediately saw the displeasure in Gu Ruobai's eyes, so she quickly comforted him. "Didn't I manage to fool him? Don't be so tense."

Gu Ruobai's expression was still not good. "Weren't you afraid that I would think you were really drowning and expose our secret?"

Su Mingyu blinked her eyes. "You're not that stupid."

"Oh, you!" Gu Ruobai looked at Su Mingyu and couldn't stay angry. "What are you going to do next?"

Su Mingyu pointed at the drawing on the desk. "Take a look."

Gu Ruobai picked up the drawing and frowned. "Is this the large mechanism under the room? Can you tell what this mechanism is for?"

Su Mingyu raised her head proudly. "Of course."

As she spoke, Su Mingyu pointed at a part on the drawing that looked like a mortise. "These mechanisms can restrain each other. This thing looks like a mortise, but at the bottom, it's a gear. I guess these rooms can all move. In that case, the whole mansion is a huge mechanism."

Su Mingyu clicked her tongue. "So even if your people come, they might not be able to get in."

Gu Ruobai narrowed his eyes. "Should I ask my men to bring muskets and pistols?"

Su Mingyu nodded. "Yes, that's exactly what I mean."

As she spoke, Su Mingyu walked up to Gu Ruobai, tilted his chin up, and looked at him. "I've made a great contribution this time. What reward are you going to give me?"

Gu Ruobai looked up at Su Mingyu. "What do you want?"

Su Mingyu thought for a moment. "I want... I want you to spare Mu Yi."

"Wh...?" Gu Ruobai suddenly froze in place. He looked at Su Mingyu in disbelief. "How did you know I was going to send Mu Yi away when I got back?"

Su Mingyu raised her eyebrows. "I know you well."

Gu Ruobai snorted. "Aren't you mad at him?"

Su Mingyu nodded. "Of course I am. There will be a way to punish him when we get back. But I can see that he is really loyal to you. He shouldn't be sent away."

Hearing Su Mingyu's words, Gu Ruobai thought for a moment, then nodded. "Since you've asked."

Su Mingyu pursed her lips and planted a kiss on Gu Ruobai's forehead. "You really are a wise and mighty prince!"

Gu Ruobai reached out and pinched Su Mingyu's cheek. "Stop flattering me."

Su Mingyu grinned. "I'm telling the truth."

Maybe because Su Mingyu had really irritated Kang Zeyan today, he didn't come out for dinner all day. Su Mingyu was glad to have some peace.

That night, just as Su Mingyu was about to go to bed, there was another knock on the door.

When Su Mingyu opened it, it was a maidservant carrying a tray.

"What do you want?" Su Mingyu looked at the maidservant coldly.

The maidservant lowered her head. "I'm here to bring something for Miss Su."

Su Mingyu glanced at the antidote on the tray without blinking an eye. "Take it back. Just tell Young Master Kang that I don't need it."

"But... but," the maidservant was a bit scared and her face was deathly pale.

"Just tell Young Master Kang that I don't want it," Su Mingyu said and then closed the door, blocking the maidservant out.

When the maidservant trembled back to Kang Zeyan's study with the antidote and relayed Su Mingyu's words to him, Kang Zeyan's face turned as dark as ink.

"Get out!"

Kang Zeyan roared and swept the things on the table away, his face as gloomy as water in anger.

Here, Su Mingyu was sleeping when suddenly she felt a stabbing pain all over her body as if she had been electrocuted. She suddenly opened her eyes, covered in sweat.

The pain all over her body was so intense that she could hardly breathe. Su Mingyu curled up in the corner of the bed.

This time the pain was much worse than last time. Su Mingyu even felt that she was about to have hallucinations.

She gritted her teeth tightly, but the alternation of hot and cold made her shiver all over.

To prevent herself from biting off her tongue due to the tension, Su Mingyu struggled to tear off a piece of cloth from the bed curtain and bit it in her mouth.

Gu Ruobai was on the beam, watching Su Mingyu suffer so much. He wanted to go down and check on her, but finally he gritted his teeth and steadied his mind.

That night, Kang Zeyan didn't come, but Su Mingyu suffered even more than before.

She tried hard to control her thoughts, not to think too much, lest the hallucinations get worse.

Early the next morning, when the first ray of sunlight shone into the room, Su Mingyu let out a long sigh of relief.

She looked up at Gu Ruobai and whispered, "Didn't you sleep all night?"
