Seeing Su Mingyu looking so lazy, Zhizhu stamped her feet in anxiety. "Miss! Are you really in the dark or just pretending?"
Seeing her like this, Su Mingyu grew even more puzzled. "What on earth happened?"
"Last night! Last night, in order to make amends to you and to let the fireflies shine their brightest in this bustling capital city, His Highness the Prince, despite his noble status, went from house to house around the Prince's Mansion in person. He hoped they would turn off their lights for a few hours and even sent them generous gifts."
Hearing Zhizhu's words, Su Mingyu suddenly recalled that the sky had been incredibly clear last night, and the stars had shone brightly. So that was the reason.
A warm feeling welled up in her heart, and the corners of her lips curled up slightly. "Where is the Prince?"
"The Prince seems to have gone out on business." Zhizhu tilted her head. "Miss, the Prince has done so much for you. How come you don't seem surprised at all?"
Su Mingyu raised her eyebrows and smiled. "Surprised about what? Didn't you say he was making amends to me? If I were to be easily touched this soon, wouldn't it be too easy to forgive him?"
Saying this, Su Mingyu gave Zhizhu a meaningful look. "Alright, prepare the carriage. I'm going out."
"You haven't even had your breakfast yet, and you're going out again. You just got back to the mansion. Can't you just be at peace for a while?" Zhizhu sounded a bit disgruntled.
Su Mingyu looked a bit helpless. "Zhizhu, you should know that your miss is very busy. You stay here in the mansion. I might not be back until evening."
With that, Su Mingyu walked past Zhizhu, leaving the latter sighing in place.
As soon as Su Mingyu left the Prince's Mansion, she bought some gifts and headed to the Ye Mansion. When Ye Weiguang saw her, he visibly let out a sigh of relief. "You've worried me so much. It's good that you're back."
Su Mingyu pursed her lips. "I'm sorry to have worried you."
Ye Weiguang patted her on the shoulder. "Come on, let's go inside and talk."
The Ye Mansion was just as it had always been, exuding an air of tranquility. As Su Mingyu walked through it, she felt a sense of calm wash over her.
"Mingyu, what on earth happened? How did you suddenly get kidnapped? The whole capital was in an uproar. Later, I heard that you and Gu Ruobai were going to get divorced. What's going on between you two?"
Ye Weiguang's face looked rather grave. "Child, I believe Gu Ruobai is not the kind of man who is fickle. There must be some misunderstanding. You should have a good talk with him. Don't be impulsive."
Su Mingyu hadn't expected the matter to have reached Ye Weiguang's ears. Yet, none of the Su family members had even bothered to inquire about her. It truly seemed that once a daughter was married off, she was like spilled water, no longer a concern.
Su Mingyu pursed her lips. "Grandfather, you don't need to worry. All of this was just for show."
Then, Su Mingyu selectively told Ye Weiguang about what had happened in the past few days. Only then did Ye Weiguang let out a long breath.
"It's good that nothing serious happened. These days, I wanted to ask the Prince of Ruixian about it, but considering he's currently in the spotlight, I didn't think it was appropriate for me to show up."
Su Mingyu nodded. "I understand. It's okay."
As Su Mingyu looked around, Ye Weiguang immediately understood. "You're looking for Qingfeng?"
Su Mingyu nodded. "Why don't I see him?"
"Alas, don't even mention it. That stubborn boy. I'm so annoyed with him these days that I sent him away." Ye Weiguang sounded a bit irritated, his tone turning sharp.
Su Mingyu raised her eyebrows. "Forget it. Let the young people sort out their own affairs."
"Grandfather, I have something else to attend to, so I'll be leaving first. Take good care of yourself." With that, Su Mingyu got ready to stand up.
"Leaving already?" Although Ye Weiguang was a bit reluctant, he still got up to see Su Mingyu off. Just as Su Mingyu was about to step out of the main gate, Ye Weiguang suddenly called out to her. "Mingyu, there's something I'm not sure if I should say."
Su Mingyu looked at Ye Weiguang in confusion. "You're my grandfather. What can't you say?"
"Well..." Ye Weiguang pursed his lips. "You've been married to the Prince of Ruixian for several months now, haven't you?"
Su Mingyu nodded, not understanding. "Yes. So what?"
"Your younger sister is said to be about to give birth soon. But your belly... why hasn't there been any sign yet?" There was deep concern in Ye Weiguang's eyes.
Su Mingyu was stunned for a moment. After a long while, her face flushed red as she suddenly realized what he meant. "Grandfather... this matter can't be rushed. It has to take its time. I know you're eager to have a great - grandson, but don't be impatient. I have something else to do, so I'll be leaving first."
With that, Su Mingyu fled the Ye Mansion as if escaping, leaving Ye Weiguang looking helpless.
After leaving the Ye Mansion, Su Mingyu went straight to Sinnan Pavilion. When Xia Mian saw Su Mingyu appear in front of her safe and sound, she was completely shocked.
Xia Mian's eyes welled up with tears. She quickly pulled Su Mingyu up to the second floor. "My lady, you've worried us so much. You don't know how crazy Qiyue was looking for you."
Su Mingyu patted Xia Mian on the shoulder and gently comforted her. "I'm sorry to have worried you. My business here isn't finished yet, so I'm just here to check on you. You all need to be careful."
Hearing that Su Mingyu was still going to take risks, Xia Mian's face darkened. "My lady... what on earth is going on? Is there anything we can do to help?"
"I'm afraid you really can't help with this." Su Mingyu smiled. "It's okay. Don't worry. I can handle it myself."
"I'm going to see Qiyue. I'll leave this shop in your care."
Seeing that Su Mingyu was about to leave, Xia Mian could only sigh. "Alright. Be careful. If there's anything, you must tell us. Although we're not as smart as you, it's always better to brainstorm."
Su Mingyu nodded gratefully. "I know. Thank you."
Xia Mian forced a smile, her eyes filled with worry. "Why are you thanking me? I have such a good life now only because you took me in. I should be the one thanking you."
Su Mingyu nodded understandingly, went downstairs, and took the carriage to Qiyue's "Wu Wang".
Perhaps because it hadn't been open for a long time, there were hardly any people in Wu Wang. The last time she came, it had been packed to the brim.
The young clerk at the counter bowed when he saw Su Mingyu. "Sorry, miss. Our shopkeeper is no longer taking on tasks."
Su Mingyu raised her eyebrows. "Why would you turn down business? Isn't this shop supposed to do business?"
The clerk shook his head apologetically. "No, it's just that there's been some trouble in our organization recently, so we don't have the energy to take on tasks. If your matter isn't urgent, you can wait."
