Chapter 396 An Old Acquaintance

The King of Yu watched this scene from afar without stepping forward to interrupt. After standing there for a while, he turned around and left the courtyard, leaving enough space for the two of them.

Su Mingyu hugged Xia Mian tightly. After a long time, she suddenly whispered in Xia Mian's ear, "Has the King of Yu left?"

Xia Mian was stunned. It took her a while to react. She cast her eyes in the direction where the King of Yu had been standing and then said in a voice only audible to the two of them, "He's gone."

Hearing this, Su Mingyu felt a slight sense of relief in her heart. She directly pulled Xia Mian into the yard. After closing the door, her complexion improved a lot.

Seeing this, Xia Mian frowned in suspicion. "What... happened? What's going on?"

Su Mingyu pursed her lips. "I'm not sure myself. I just have a feeling... that Gu Ruobai's matter this time is not that simple."

"Then... is it a good thing?" Seeing Su Mingyu's relieved look, Xia Mian's nervousness also eased a lot. "If so, we should play our parts well to avoid arousing the King of Yu's suspicion."

Su Mingyu gave a soft "mm" sound. "Don't tell Zhizhu about this. I don't want her to worry."

That night, Su Mingyu's yard seemed extremely quiet. She drove away all the servants, saying that she didn't want to see anyone.

When everyone had left, Su Mingyu came to the pavilion alone. She looked up at the moon in the sky and let out a deep sigh. "The moon is really beautiful tonight..."

"Yes, it's a pity that the person the king wants to share this beautiful scenery with doesn't want to be with the king." The King of Yu's voice suddenly sounded from behind.

Su Mingyu frowned, her tone a bit unfriendly. "The moon is only beautiful when you enjoy it with the right person."

"Is he really that hard for you to let go of after he's gone?" The King of Yu sat down beside Su Mingyu and raised his eyebrows, looking at her.

Su Mingyu lowered her eyes. "What do you want to say?"

"He'll never be able to return to the capital. You should pay more attention to the people around you." The implication in the King of Yu's words was very obvious. Su Mingyu wasn't stupid and could almost tell at once.

"Is there anyone around me?" Su Mingyu didn't even look at the King of Yu. "I've said before that I don't like you, and it's impossible for me to be with you."

"Don't be so absolute." The King of Yu suddenly reached out and forcefully turned Su Mingyu's face, forcing her to look at him. His previously rather plain eyes were now full of coldness. "Do you know who you're talking to?"

Su Mingyu's face darkened. She tried to pull back her chin but couldn't.

"What on earth do you want?"

The King of Yu curled his lips, his eyes full of malice. "I've said before that I want you."

Before Su Mingyu could refuse, the King of Yu continued, "I've said that I don't care whether your heart is with me or not. I just want your person to be with me. Gu Ruobai is gone. Now, in the entire capital, only I can protect you."

Su Mingyu sneered in her heart, with a look of disdain in the corner of her eye. "So the King of Yu is such a person who will stop at nothing. Mingyu has truly seen it."

The King of Yu curled his lips and smiled. "It's not your first day knowing me."

"Yes... the world has changed. If I had known you were such a person earlier, I would never have regarded you as a friend."

Su Mingyu gave the King of Yu a sarcastic look. But before she could continue to say something to provoke him, the King of Yu tightened his grip on her chin, making it impossible for Su Mingyu to say or do anything.

"If we had known each other earlier, maybe we would have ended up together." The King of Yu's eyebrows drooped. With a hint of a smile in the corner of his eye, he kissed Su Mingyu's fair cheek in her stunned gaze.

The soft and warm touch made Su Mingyu feel nauseous. She tried hard to avoid it, but since she was tightly held by the King of Yu, she had no way out.

It was not until the King of Yu left that he loosened his grip on Su Mingyu.

As soon as she got free, Su Mingyu immediately wiped her cheek hard with her hand, looking disgusted. "You're really disgusting!"

The King of Yu licked his lips. "Get a good rest. I'll take you to see an old acquaintance tomorrow."

Watching the King of Yu's departing back, Su Mingyu bit her lower lip tightly. Her face was tense, and her eyes were full of deep disgust.

Seeing that the King of Yu had finally left, Xia Mian came up and poured a cup of hot water for Su Mingyu. "My lady..."

Su Mingyu patted Xia Mian's hand. "It's okay. I can endure it."

"However, I really want to drink some wine..." Su Mingyu sighed. "It's a pity..."

As she said this, Su Mingyu stroked her belly and sighed, "If it weren't for you, I could have had a few drinks when I'm in a bad mood."

Seeing that Su Mingyu was still rational, Xia Mian finally felt a bit more relieved. "Well, how about I drink while you watch?"

"You have quite a good idea." Su Mingyu rolled her eyes. "If I can't drink, of course you can't either!"

As she said this, Su Mingyu let out a long breath of turbid air and then stood up. "Forget it. I'm going to have a good rest. You can enjoy the moon."

Watching Su Mingyu's departing back, Xia Mian pursed her lips, with a look of pity in her eyes.

Early the next morning, the King of Yu came to knock on Su Mingyu's door. Although Su Mingyu didn't want to see that so - called old acquaintance at all from the bottom of her heart, the King of Yu's attitude was very firm. In the end, Su Mingyu had no choice but to follow him onto the carriage out of the mansion.

She thought he was going to take her somewhere far away, but unexpectedly, the carriage stopped beside a tavern in the market.

The King of Yu reached out his hand to help her get off the carriage, but Su Mingyu refused almost without thinking. Seeing this, the King of Yu wasn't angry. He just rubbed his nose and led Su Mingyu straight in and then up to the second floor.

As soon as Su Mingyu walked into the private room, she saw a familiar figure. Almost instantly, all the hairs on her body stood up. Of course, it wasn't because of fear but because of anger.

"It's actually you!"

Tang Yan, who was sitting on the stool, raised his eyebrows and looked at Su Mingyu. He raised the cup in his hand and let out a soft laugh. "Princess... oh no, now you're Miss Su. Long time no see, Miss Su. You seem to be doing quite well judging from your rosy complexion."

Without thinking, Su Mingyu stepped forward, picked up the wine cup, and splashed it in Tang Yan's face. "Do you really not know whether I'm doing well or not?"

A cold feeling hit Tang Yan. He just took out a silk handkerchief to wipe the wine off his face, then raised his eyebrows and looked at Su Mingyu without getting angry. "After all, with the King of Yu taking care of you, I think you should be doing quite well."

As soon as Tang Yan finished speaking, Su Mingyu picked up the wine cup and splashed it in his face again. "Shut up! I don't want to hear you talk."
