Chapter 29: Heartbroken

When Zhaozhao woke up, Su Yuan was standing not far away with his back to her.

Zhaozhao stretched. Her mind was a bit muddled. She had no idea how she'd fallen asleep, and had no recollection of what had happened before.

"Su Yuan, what are you doing there?" Zhaozhao got up from the ground and patted the grass and leaves off her clothes.

Su Yuan turned around to look at her. His eyes held a complexity that Zhaozhao couldn't understand or describe.

Looking at Su Yuan like this, Zhaozhao suddenly felt that he was so far away and so strange. Instinctively, she wanted to get closer, but when she reached out her hand, Su Yuan dodged it.

"Go back when you're awake. Don't keep your cousin waiting," Su Yuan said in a calm, but extremely cold voice.

Zhaozhao frowned and wanted to say something, but Su Yuan turned around and walked away first.

This time, he didn't hold Zhaozhao's hand and walk with her. Instead, he drew an array on the ground and asked Zhaozhao to step into it.

"This array will send you back. It's very safe. You don't need to worry."

Zhaozhao looked at the glowing array under her feet and asked doubtfully, "Aren't you going back with me?"

Su Yuan retracted the Acacia Thread from Zhaozhao. He raised his indifferent eyes and looked at her. "I'll send the Diting back."

The Diting was licking its paws boredly on the side. It kindly didn't expose this lord and just complained in its heart: You don't want to send me back at all. You just found out that you're fated with this girl and you're confused, aren't you?

Looking at Su Yuan, who didn't even want to say an extra word, Zhaozhao felt a bit sad. She asked him, "Do you hate me?"

Su Yuan paused and avoided Zhaozhao's clear eyes. He evaded the question. He neither admitted nor denied it. He just said, "Stand still. I'm going to activate the array."

Seeing that he didn't want to answer, Zhaozhao assumed that he must hate her to the extreme. She got a bit angry for a moment.

"Wait," Zhaozhao took out Su Yuan's dragon scale from her chest and threw it to him. "You forgot your dragon scale."

Su Yuan caught the dragon scale. Rarely, he looked a bit at a loss. "You... keep this with you. In case there's danger on the way, it can protect you."

Zhaozhao shook her head stubbornly and folded her arms. "Didn't you say this array is very safe? I don't want it."

Zhaozhao used to carry Su Yuan's dragon scale because she thought they were good friends. It was normal for friends to give each other gifts, just like her little friends on the parasol tree. They often exchanged things.

But Su Yuan hated her. How could she have the nerve to keep his thing?

She actually liked Su Yuan quite a lot, but he didn't like her. He was the first person who had been so kind to her since she came down the mountain...

The more Zhaozhao thought about it, the sadder she became. She wondered if she should give it one more try. She wanted to ask Su Yuan why he hated her, but when she looked up and saw Su Yuan's expressionless face, she couldn't bring herself to ask.

Zhaozhao looked at the array under her feet. She recognized it. It was the array for shrinking the distance over a thousand miles that her cousin had drawn.

Su Yuan was actually quite nice. Even though he hated her, he still wanted to send her back to her cousin. But as a little tree demon with self - esteem and a thin skin, Zhaozhao was too embarrassed to trouble him anymore.

Then she immediately joined her hands and chanted a spell to activate the array and left.

Su Yuan was still immersed in Zhaozhao's firm "I don't want it" when, before he could react, she was gone right under his nose.

He had shot himself in the foot. Now the dragon scale was returned to him.

Suddenly, a hurricane rose on Wanling Mountain. Dark clouds gathered, and in an instant, heavy rain poured down.

The Diting hurriedly created a shield for itself to shelter from the rain. Looking at Su Yuan beside it, it had a hard time speaking out its mind. It could only roar in its heart:

I don't understand. I really don't understand what these lords are thinking. If you don't want to let her go, just explain it clearly! Is it necessary to secretly suffer in your heart?

The Yinglong was born with the ability to control the natural weather. The heavier the rain on Wanling Mountain, the more miserable Su Yuan felt at this moment.

"Sorry," Su Yuan looked at the small animals scurrying around in panic because of the sudden rain. He stopped his train of thought, and the weather gradually returned to normal.

After much thought, the Diting reckoned that this famous Lord Yinglong had been cold - hearted for tens of thousands of years. Maybe he knew nothing about such things.

The Diting thought that it didn't want to see this ancient war god with great military achievements be troubled by love at such an old age. So it kindly reminded him, "My lord, since you like her, why not just confess your love to her directly? Your reaction just now will only push her further away."

Su Yuan put away his dragon scale and left with a sentence, "I don't like her. You're mistaken." Then he disappeared.

The Diting lay on the ground lazily basking in the sun and murmured in its heart, "With such a deep connection between you two, you're definitely going to fall in love desperately. Oh, Lord Dragon, you know nothing about the power of love."

The Diting turned over and couldn't help but wonder what kind of existence Zhaozhao was.

It, the Diting, could distinguish all things. Since it couldn't see through her, unless... that little girl was an existence more ancient than it.

Calculated like this, perhaps only that old fellow Bai Ze would know. But this wasn't something it should worry about. It might as well go to sleep.

Zhaozhao returned to Po Sa Village. The matters in the village were almost settled. Except for the special police and Song Yao, all the people from the Xuanmen and the Monster Administration Bureau had left.

Song's father was an elder of the Xuanmen. The matter of the Xuanmen disciple killing the Gufu Niao still needed him to negotiate with the Monster Administration Bureau, so he left too.

Song Yao waited for a long time and finally saw her listless little sister.

"Zhaozhao, over here!"

Zhaozhao walked over with a bitter face. She called out to her listlessly, "Cousin."

Seeing this, Song Yao asked worriedly, "What's wrong with you? You became like this just after going to the underworld. You didn't leave your soul there, did you?"

The more Song Yao thought about it, the more she felt it was possible. Could it be that Su Yuan, that unreliable dragon, didn't watch over Zhaozhao well and let the Black and White Impermanence accidentally hook her soul?

Zhaozhao didn't know Song Yao's absurd thoughts. She looked up at Song Yao sadly and puzzledly and said, "Cousin, Su Yuan hates me. Why?"

Song Yao's heart skipped a beat. Was this... a breakup? That was really great news!!

Song Yao tried hard to control the corners of her mouth that wanted to curl up. She put her arm around Zhaozhao and comforted her half - heartedly, "It's okay, it's okay. If he hates you, let him. Anyway, he's not a good man."

Seeing that Zhaozhao still couldn't cheer up, Song Yao pulled her towards their car. "Don't be sad. I told you long ago that Su Yuan wasn't a good choice. Look at you. You didn't listen to your cousin and now you're suffering."

Zhaozhao looked at that "big black worm" and thought of how she felt when she first got in. Her face got even worse. She didn't want to say a word.

On the way home, Song Yao looked at the silent Zhaozhao beside her and thought, was she really that sad?

After thinking for a while, Song Yao took out her phone and searched, "How to comfort a heartbroken person?"

There was a highly - voted answer below: "Don't bother with comfort. Don't do anything fake. Just let her start a new relationship. It'll be 100% effective!"

Song Yao stared at that answer and squinted her eyes thoughtfully.
