Chapter 72: Lingering Tenderness

Zhaozhao held the dragon scale in her hand, her heart filled with uncontrollable panic. She knew that Su Yuan was extremely powerful, and perhaps he was actually fine.

However... the heat coming from the dragon scale made it impossible for her to calm down. It was scalding hot.

Her memory drifted back to the scene when Su Yuan lost control in Posa Village. She didn't know why she thought of this. All she knew was that she desperately wanted, more than anything, to be in front of Su Yuan and see with her own eyes that he was okay.

Zhaozhao had no time to care about the ghosts filling the room, nor did she have the energy to deal with the strange things happening in the Chen family. She knew that nothing was more important than Su Yuan.

Taotie, Zhaozhao's spiritual pet, could sense her emotions. Zhaozhao's distress affected it, and it anxiously tugged at the corner of her pants.

"What's going on?"

"Su Yuan, it's Su Yuan!" Song Yao had left. Zhaozhao had been driven here by Su Yuan. She had never lived in the human world before, and the high - rise buildings blocked her way to find Su Yuan. She didn't know what to do.

The dragon scale became even hotter. Zhaozhao hissed in pain as it burned her hand.

"Taotie, do you still remember where Su Yuan's house is?" Her voice was tinged with sobs. Anyone could sense her helplessness.

"Stupid mistress, don't cry!" Taotie immediately became flustered. It stood up on its hind legs, waving its two front paws like a money - attracting cat. It looked rather comical, but Zhaozhao didn't feel like laughing at all.

In fact, she wasn't crying. She was just a bit anxious.

"Alright, alright. Do you have anything that carries his scent? Let me smell it. I can find the place just by smelling it." While Taotie despised itself for using its abilities like a dog when it was an ancient fierce beast, it sincerely hoped that its stupid mistress would cheer up.

"Ah, I do! Here, smell it." Zhaozhao held the precious dragon scale in her hands and presented it to Taotie, nervously waiting for the result.

Taotie sniffed it, and then its beast pupils turned vertical. "I've found it. Follow me."

Saying that, it grabbed Zhaozhao by the back of her collar and flew out from the small balcony. Its figure expanded rapidly in the air as it completely transformed into its beast form.

Then, with a sudden force, it tossed Zhaozhao onto its back and instructed, "Hold on tight. I'll take you to find him."

"Okay." Zhaozhao nodded obediently, bending down and gripping Taotie's mane tightly.

Under the full moon, a huge beast carried a young girl flying through the clouds. A child who got up in the middle of the night pointed at the sky and exclaimed that he had seen a monster, only to be scolded by his parents and ordered to go back to sleep quickly.

Lu Chukong stood on the balcony looking at the moon in the sky, shaking his head with a sigh.

The moon was truly beautiful, but the people who stayed up late tonight had no time to appreciate it.

"Will they agree to help?" Mrs. Chen pulled her coat tighter. The night wind in Jinghai was so cold that it made one's heart feel desolate.

"Who knows?"

Lu Chukong turned around and entered the apartment. After sending away the ghosts in the living room, he casually packed his things and prepared to leave.

"Madam, to be honest with you, I'm just a swindling little Taoist priest. I really can't help you much."

He showed a somewhat troubled expression and spread his hands in front of Mrs. Chen. "You see, you're quite lucky. You've just met someone with real abilities. How about you return my things to me? Well? Maybe we'll meet again if we're fated?"

Mrs. Chen smiled. "Don't be in a hurry. It's not too late to return them to you after those two young ladies really go to the Chen family."

"..." Lu Chukong was anxious, but he was helpless.

"Fine. You decide."

---

Taotie carried Zhaozhao on a long journey and finally found Su Yuan's house.

But it wasn't the one Zhaozhao had stayed in before. It was another small villa.

"You go in." Taotie put Zhaozhao down, shrank its body, and trembled as it took two steps back.

"Aren't you coming with me?" Zhaozhao squatted down and stroked Taotie's furry head. She felt that Taotie's current state seemed a bit off.

Taotie shook its head. The whole little beast curled up into a ball, and its muffled voice came out. "Please spare me, young mistress. The dragon inside is about to go berserk. I don't want to go in and suffer under such a powerful aura."

Hearing the word "berserk", Zhaozhao's heart tightened. She didn't care about Taotie anymore and turned around to run into the small villa.

"Hey, I'm saying!" Taotie poked its head out but couldn't see Zhaozhao's figure anymore. It silently swallowed the second half of the sentence.

Stupid mistress, running so fast. Do you know what state the Yinglong is in now... Be careful of being devoured by the dragon.

Sigh...

Taotie hugged its head and sighed. This wasn't something it could handle. It'd better keep its mouth shut.

The villa was brightly lit and in a complete mess. Zhaozhao stepped on the fragments on the ground, her breathing heavy.

Su Yuan wasn't the kind of person who would smash things randomly. The mess in the house meant that he must have had an accident!

A dull thud came from upstairs. Zhaozhao quickly followed the sound and ran up the stairs.

She pushed open the first room on the second floor. Su Yuan was there, but at this moment, Su Yuan seemed so strange to Zhaozhao.

He was wearing a black bathrobe. His originally short black hair had grown all the way to the ground. His dragon horns were exposed, and a long, radiant dragon tail trailed behind him.

He stood menacingly, dangerously, and lonely by the window, his blood - red pupils looking at Zhaozhao indifferently.

"Su Yuan..." Zhaozhao's feet seemed to be rooted to the ground, and it was hard for her to take another step forward.

The man by the window moved, narrowing his eyes. As if he had smelled something, his eyes locked onto Zhaozhao, and he took step by step closer.

This was the behavior of a fierce beast about to hunt its prey.

Zhaozhao felt that although she was standing there fine, she inexplicably had a sense of suffocation as if Su Yuan had already bitten her neck.

A cool touch came from her chin. Su Yuan's hand stroked her fair and delicate skin. His eyes scanned her inch by inch, and his hot breath sprayed on her earlobe, making her shiver uncontrollably.

This feeling was so strange!

Zhaozhao couldn't stand it anymore and pushed Su Yuan away, on the verge of tears. She was worried and scared. What was going on? Didn't they agree before that he wouldn't eat the tree? Why was he looking at her like this?

"Su Yuan... Su Yuan!" Zhaozhao's voice suddenly rose. Su Yuan! He was actually licking her neck!

"Let go of me! Let me go first!"

Zhaozhao felt that something was very wrong. Su Yuan was so dangerous that it seemed like he would bite off her neck the next second.

"Su Yuan, I'm scared. Let me go... I'm Zhaozhao..." The man on top of her became more and more unrestrained. Su Yuan was no longer the gentle Su Yuan. He was greedily trying to take something from Zhaozhao without any restraint.

"Zhaozhao?" The blood - red color in Su Yuan's eyes faded for a moment. He finally raised his head and looked blankly at the aggrieved girl in front of him.

"I'm Zhaozhao!" Zhaozhao thought she saw hope and nodded eagerly. She wanted Su Yuan to regain his senses.

But things backfired. The next second, Su Yuan's dragon tail wrapped around her waist, pinning her firmly in his arms. He lowered his head and captured her lips.

"I know you're Zhaozhao. I've always known." Amidst the lingering tenderness were Su Yuan's indistinct words.
