Chapter 408: Drugging

Sure enough, Lu Chuanbai was deliberately causing trouble!

"Great, it couldn't be better," Lu Fenglin gritted his teeth and said.

So great that they didn't even have the most basic capabilities!

If it weren't for the relatives backing them up, they would never have been able to enter the Lu Group in their entire lives!

"That's good. Then I'll trouble you, second brother, to give them some good training," Lu Chuanbai said, a smile curling up on his lips as he turned around and left contentedly.

Lu Fenglin, who originally wanted to take the opportunity to mock Lu Chuanbai and see him get angry because he had poached his people, ended up jumping up and down in frustration himself.

He was so angry!

Lu Chuanbai, just you wait!

Your days of smooth sailing are numbered!

Ding Haoran, who had been assigned by Lu Fenglin to the construction site, was skulking behind a dirt pile in the wasteland.

After waiting for about three hours, Ding Haoran saw a large truck coming and quickly called Lu Fenglin to report.

"Manager Lu, the large truck transporting the sod has arrived. Come and take a look quickly," Ding Haoran said.

Lu Fenglin, who had already been driving towards the wasteland, replied calmly after receiving the call, "I see. Keep an eye on it."

It was time for him to fight back!

A smile curled up on Lu Fenglin's lips. He stepped on the accelerator hard and rushed towards the wasteland at top speed.

Lao Zhang was directing the truck driver to back up and telling him to unload the sod on a relatively flat area.

"Yes, right here! Okay, slow down!"

Just as Lao Zhang was guiding the truck driver into position and the driver was about to back up, an employee came to inform Lao Zhang.

"Uncle Zhang, Manager Lu wants to see you. He's waiting for you in the office now," the employee said.

Hearing that Lu Fenglin wanted to see him, a look of suspicion flashed across Lao Zhang's eyes.

He knew that Lu Fenglin and Lu Chuanbai had always been at odds. Why would Lu Fenglin come to see him in the middle of the night?

"Stop backing up for now. I have something to attend to," Lao Zhang said, raising his hand to stop the driver and then hurrying back to the office with a flashlight.

Lu Fenglin, with a polite smile on his face, was waiting for him inside.

Lao Zhang had always been on Lu Chuanbai's side. He didn't exactly dislike Lu Fenglin, but he definitely didn't like him either.

"Manager Lu, what do you want to see me about so late?" Lao Zhang asked, turning off his flashlight and sizing up Lu Fenglin with his wrinkled face.

"Uncle Zhang, I know you guys are working overtime tonight, so I brought you some late-night snacks. Have some," Lu Fenglin said, opening the food container he had placed on the table. Inside were golden fried dumplings. As soon as the lid was opened, the aroma filled the entire room.

"I'm old. I never eat late-night snacks," Lao Zhang said, waving his hand to disperse the fragrance in front of him. He was expressionless and didn't show any appreciation.

As the saying goes, if you take something from someone, you'll feel indebted; if you eat someone's food, you'll be soft-spoken. "Thank you for your concern, Manager Lu, but you'd better go back quickly," Lao Zhang said.

Lu Fenglin never came without a reason. Lao Zhang didn't believe that Lu Fenglin had come just to bring him late-night snacks.

"Uncle Zhang, you've contributed so much to the Lu Group. As a junior, it's only right for me to care about you," Lu Fenglin said, with a humble smile on his face, but inside he was cursing Lao Zhang out.

He was just a mere security guard. He, the general manager of the Lu Group, had come in person to bring him late-night snacks, and yet Lao Zhang dared to put on airs!

Who did he think he was!

"I really don't eat late-night snacks," Lao Zhang said, turning around to leave.

Lu Fenglin was quicker and blocked Lao Zhang's way. Although there was a smile on his lips, there was an unquenchable coldness in his eyes.

"Uncle Zhang, you're not giving me face. Do you think the late-night snacks I brought are not good?" Lu Fenglin asked.

Seeing that Lu Fenglin was being persistent, Lao Zhang had to compromise in order to get back to work as soon as possible.

"I'm old, and my digestive system is not good, so I eat very little at night," Lao Zhang said.

"But since it was brought by you personally, Manager Lu, I can't refuse your kindness."

After saying that, Lao Zhang went back to the table very graciously, picked up a pair of chopsticks, and took a bite of a fried dumpling.

The dumplings were filled with shrimp. The fragrance filled Lao Zhang's entire mouth, but there was an imperceptible bitterness.

Lao Zhang twirled his chopsticks to check the bottom of the fried dumpling and was sure that it hadn't been overcooked. He was a little surprised where this bitterness was coming from.

Lao Zhang ate three or four dumplings in a row and then put down his chopsticks. "I really can't eat anymore. You can give the rest to the workers," Lao Zhang said.

"Okay, thank you, Uncle Zhang, for giving me face," Lu Fenglin said, a faint smile on his lips. He stepped aside and even opened the door for Lao Zhang.

"It's so late. You must be careful while working, Uncle Zhang," Lu Fenglin said.

Lao Zhang gave Lu Fenglin a deep look. He always felt that Lu Fenglin was being overly obedient.

There was no way Lu Fenglin had come to the construction site just to bring him late-night snacks, right?

Lao Zhang didn't believe that Lu Fenglin had such a kind heart!

"Manager Lu... Aren't you leaving yet?" Lao Zhang asked tentatively.

The smile on Lu Fenglin's lips deepened. The dim white incandescent light in the office shone behind Lu Fenglin, casting a shadow on his face, making him look extremely terrifying.

"I'm not in a hurry. I'll wait a while longer," Lu Fenglin said.

Lao Zhang realized something was wrong, but it was already too late. His head started to feel dizzy, and his eyelids began to droop uncontrollably.

Only then did Lao Zhang understand why the fried dumplings he had eaten tasted bitter. It was because they had been drugged.

Lao Zhang covered his head in pain and pointed at Lu Fenglin in disbelief, feeling extremely contemptuous of his despicable actions.

"You... You actually drugged me!" Lao Zhang hissed in a low voice. His vision became increasingly blurred, and Lu Fenglin swayed in his pupils.

The smile on Lu Fenglin's lips widened, and his face was full of disdain. "So what if I drugged you? I'm the winner," Lu Fenglin said.

As soon as Lu Fenglin finished speaking, Lao Zhang couldn't control his body and fell to the ground with a thud.

Lu Fenglin pretended to be kind and carried Lao Zhang to the sofa in the office, locked the door, and then walked towards the wasteland.

The employees who were waiting for Lao Zhang to come and direct them were all surprised to see that it was Lu Fenglin who had come.

"Manager Lu, where's Uncle Zhang?" one of the employees stepped forward and asked Lu Fenglin.

Lu Fenglin casually turned on his flashlight and replied nonchalantly, "Uncle Zhang is having late-night snacks in the office. He's old. I'll replace him to give the directions."

After saying that, Lu Fenglin pointed the flashlight in his hand at the window of the truck driver's cab.

"I've just received an order. This batch of sod won't be unloaded here. It has to be taken to another place," Lu Fenglin said.

The driver raised his hand to block the flashlight beam shining in his face and roared angrily, "Changing the location so late at night. Are you kidding me!"

Lu Fenglin immediately took out a stack of red banknotes. "If you take it to the designated place, I'll give you a reward," Lu Fenglin said.

As soon as the driver saw the money, his anger instantly disappeared, and his face showed a respectful smile.

"Okay, we'll take it wherever you say," the driver said.

They saw that the person in charge of giving directions had changed from Lao Zhang to Lu Fenglin, and even the unloading location had changed.
