Chapter 10: The Start of Cooperation

If the beginning of the matter could be traced back to two broken bottles, then what followed became the bond that connected two people. If one had avoided all these things from the start, would there have been no unforgettable experiences?

The books passed down from my ancestors allowed me to learn about the mechanisms and strange tales in ancient tombs, but I still had to be the one to put the knowledge into practice.

That day, for the convenience of contact, Yan Yan and I exchanged contact information. His phone number was the same as his WeChat ID. This man's WeChat Moments was terrifyingly clean. It was as if there was nothing there. In contrast, I recorded every bit of my life in my Moments.

We agreed to discuss this matter together. From Yan Yan, I learned that this team included not only Fatty and me but also several other people who were quite accomplished in tomb - raiding. Each of them was an elite.

The notification sound of my phone went off. I picked it up and saw a message from Yan Yan: "Let's meet at a teahouse in the suburbs." There was a location attached after the text.

Fatty was still sleeping. I hadn't had breakfast either. I tidied up a bit, prepared some food, and then woke Fatty up.

There was plenty of food in the kitchen. Although I was single, I still liked to live a refined life. Adhering to the principle of rather remaining single than settling for less, I had been single for so many years.

Well, I thought I looked okay. I had well - defined features, looking clean and sunny. Wearing casual clothes made me look even younger. I didn't look like a person who had graduated two years ago at all; I was more like a college student.

I heated two slices of bread in the toaster, fried an egg, and prepared a glass of milk. After getting the bread ready, I put the milk in the microwave to heat. Then I turned on the induction cooker to heat the oil and fry the egg.

As the egg was frying in the pan, the delicious smell filled the air.

"Wow, what smells so good?" Fatty's voice came from behind.

I had to admit that Fatty was extremely sensitive to the smell of delicious food. Especially after a night of hunger, his sense of smell was at its peak.

I gave him a disdainful look and said, "You're only enthusiastic about eating."

Fatty didn't care. He nimbly shuffled over and peeked at the egg in the pan from behind me.

I pushed his head back. He looked at the fried egg being taken out of the pan pitifully, then looked at me and said, "Brother Mu, just let me have a bit."

"Have you washed up yet? How can you eat now?" I picked up the chopsticks and tapped his chubby hand.

He withdrew his hand awkwardly and turned to go to the bathroom.

While Fatty was washing up, I quickly sent a message to Yan Yan: "We'll be there later." After sending it, I put the breakfast on the dining table.

Fatty finished washing up in a flash, sat down on the chair, and started to gobble up. "Brother Mu, you're so nice. If you were a girl, I'd marry you."

"If I were a girl, I wouldn't marry you." I gave him a disdainful look and continued eating. After finishing a glass of milk, I ended my breakfast.

Fatty didn't care. After eating, he nestled on the sofa and turned on the TV, continuing his search for his true love.

"Stop watching TV. Tidy up. We're going to the small teahouse in the suburbs to meet Yan Yan," I said to Fatty. "I heard there's a beauty. She has an amazing figure."

At the mention of a beauty, Fatty's eyes lit up. He jumped up and rushed back to his room to get ready.

Yan Yan didn't reply to my message, not even a simple "okay". He was really a man of few words. He talked a bit when we met, but not much. He just explained the situation and then said nothing else.

I changed into a well - fitting formal suit. After all, these were my future partners, so the meeting should be more formal. I looked at myself in the mirror to make sure there were no egg crumbs on my face. Okay, it was all good.

Fatty got ready soon. Actually, he wasn't really fat. He wore loose clothes to cover the fat on his belly, along with hip - hop pants and canvas shoes. He looked like a lively young man.

"Wow, Fatty, you look different today," I said. It was really a bit strange to see Fatty dressed so formally after all these years.

"Brother Mu, let's go," Fatty said cheerfully, pulling me out. The repaired car was sent back by Yan Yan's subordinate. It didn't look like it had ever had a problem.

I got into the driver's seat, and Fatty sat in the passenger seat. We looked like a father taking his son out. Fatty was looking forward to it, constantly asking me what the girl was like.

I gave him a disdainful look and continued driving. I guessed that if I hadn't mentioned the beauty, he might not have come with me. Fortunately, I was smart enough not to be led astray by this fool.

We drove out of the city, and the scenery outside the window rushed by. It took us more than an hour to reach the small teahouse that Yan Yan had sent the location of. As soon as we arrived, Fatty couldn't wait to open the door and get out.

The teahouse was simple, a place for relaxation, with an air of literati. Yan Yan was still dressed in black, standing at the door waiting for us. His determined face and deep eyes seemed to see through people.

"Let's go," Yan Yan said as he saw us. He took a big step and led us upstairs. The private room upstairs had been reserved by Yan Yan.

There were three other people in the private room, two men and one woman.

"Hello, brother. I've heard about your Chen family for a long time. I'm Xu Yang," a sunny - looking boy with a big smile stood up and reached out his hand. I shook his hand and said, "Hello, I'm Chen Mu."

The other one was a man wearing glasses, dressed in a formal suit. His suit was different from mine. Mine was a sunny - style suit, while his was more of an ascetic style. After shaking hands with Xu Yang, I turned to this ascetic - looking guy, reached out my hand, and introduced myself, "Hello, I'm Chen Mu." He looked at me, nodded, and said, "Song Yiran." Well, another man of few words.

As soon as Fatty came in, he rushed towards the girl. He greeted her with a wrinkled - faced smile, "Hello, miss. I'm Zhou Zihang." He reached out his hand to shake hers.

The beauty shook his hand without hesitation and said, "Shi Yuhan." She gave Fatty a smile. That smile was like a bolt of lightning to Fatty. He was completely dazed.

Fatty let go of the girl's hand, put his arm around my shoulder, and said, "Let me introduce my brother, Chen Mu." Shi Yuhan looked at me and gave a faint smile. I nodded, indicating that we had met.

The six - person team was finally complete. In this small private room, a small group was born.

After getting to know each other, we sat around the tea table. The other three people were also recruited by Yan Yan. They were all accomplished in tomb - raiding.

Xu Yang and Song Yiran were good friends. Their families used to be involved in tomb - raiding but had since quit. Shi Yuhan was really something. Her grandfather was an authority in this field, and no one would question his words.

As for Yan Yan, no one knew much about him. This man was as mysterious as his black clothes. He was unpredictable.

Throughout the whole process, Yan Yan didn't say much. Apart from nodding as a sign, he just watched us discuss the next plan. He seemed like an outsider.

Shi Yuhan said that her grandfather could provide them with help.
