Chapter 25: Hospitalization

Everyone stopped fighting and looked in the direction of the sound. There, they saw a person lying in a pool of blood. Instantly, silence fell over the area.

That person was me. Uncle quickly rushed over. With a trembling hand, he took out his phone and dialed 120. Fatty stood there, stunned, and walked towards me like a lost soul.

Uncle angrily roared at those people, ordering none of them to leave. He said that no one could go until the culprit was found. Fatty supported my waist to keep me from falling.

My consciousness was gradually fading. I wanted to reach out and touch Uncle, who was scolding in front of me. But my mind was so hazy that I finally let my hand drop. All was quiet around me, and all I could hear was my own breathing.

When I woke up, I was lying in a hospital bed at the First People's Hospital. The smell of alcohol and medicine filled the air, irritating my sense of smell and forcing me to open my eyes with difficulty.

Uncle was lying on the edge of the bed, fast asleep. Fatty was nowhere to be seen. I couldn't remember anything that had happened after the incident. I shifted my body slightly, and Uncle, who was lying on his stomach, was awakened by my gentle movement.

He opened his eyes, focused his vision, and as soon as he saw that I was awake, he quickly pulled back the quilt. "Let Uncle take a look. Is your wound getting better?"

Uncle said anxiously, "These people are really heartless."

I grabbed the hand that Uncle was using to check my wound. "Uncle, I'm okay. Don't worry."

Uncle paused for a moment and suddenly burst into tears. "If something were to happen to you, what would I do? How could I face your parents?"

Seeing Uncle like this, I felt really bad. Over the years, Uncle had been so good to me, partly out of guilt. If something happened to me, Uncle would blame himself to death.

"Those people suddenly came to our house after hearing something. Fortunately, the ancestral house is located in a remote area, so it didn't attract too much attention," Uncle said.

Thank goodness the ancestral house was secluded; otherwise, it would have caused panic. I still hadn't figured out the problems I'd discovered in the tomb, and now there were even more issues waiting for me to solve.

"What happened after I fainted yesterday?" I asked Uncle. There might have been some things that happened while I was unconscious that I didn't know about.

Uncle told me what had happened. Everyone had been thoroughly checked, but no one was found with a knife in their hand. So how could my wounds be explained?

Strange things had been happening non - stop since I got the jade bottle. It was like a never - ending trouble, hard to figure out and even annoying.

The door of the ward creaked open, and a fat arm came into view. "Hey, Brother Mu, you're awake."

Fatty pushed the door open and came in, still holding some food in his hand.

"Uncle, you should eat something quickly."

Fatty skillfully pulled out the small table on my hospital bed and placed the food on it, inviting Uncle to eat. I patted Fatty and pointed at myself.

Fatty looked at me in confusion. "Brother Mu, are you not feeling well?"

What a stupid answer! He really was a grown - up idiot. "I mean I'm hungry too, you fool."

I rubbed my forehead. I really couldn't expect too much from this fool. Fatty waved his hand. "I knew you'd be hungry, so I bought some for you."

Then Fatty took out a plastic box with the hospital's logo on it from the bag. "You're really my good brother. I haven't eaten for so long and just went through a near - death experience, and you give me this?"

I looked at the millet congee in the box disdainfully. At least some steamed buns would have been better.

Fatty justified himself. "The doctor said you can only eat light food." As he spoke, he stuffed a chicken leg into his own mouth.

"Is it appropriate for you to eat meat in front of me? Light food? Wouldn't it be more appropriate for you to just get me a glass of water?"

I was so angry that I couldn't even hit him. If I weren't lying in the hospital bed, I would have jumped up and beaten this fat idiot to death.

I was too lazy to argue. Uncle was eating, and from time to time, he looked in the direction of the door.

"Uncle, is there something at the door? You've been looking at it," I asked.

Uncle swallowed the food in his mouth. "I'm worried that those people might come here."

Uncle's concern was reasonable. Since I hadn't died, those people definitely wouldn't give up.

"Was the culprit really not found?" I said.

"There were only those people at the door at that time. Could it be a ghost that stabbed me?" Uncle's hand holding the chopsticks trembled.

"Mu'er, don't talk nonsense. You should know our family's situation," Uncle said as he continued eating. I knew what the Chen family's situation was. We all thought we had done too many immoral things. Just like the saying goes, "If you often walk by the river, your shoes will surely get wet." I leaned against the bed, thinking. It seemed that all these things were connected.

"Fatty, do you still remember the strange things we encountered when we went back to the old house and in the tomb last time?" I looked up at Fatty, who was eating happily.

"Don't mention the old house anymore. I'm still scared," Fatty said. "I'm also scared of what happened in the tomb. You can ask Yan Yan about this kind of thing."

"Who's calling me?" A cold voice came in. Yan Yan was dressed in casual clothes. Although there was no longer that oppressive aura, it wasn't much better either. As soon as Yan Yan came in, he stared at me, almost boring a hole through me.

Fatty put down the food in his hand. "You're finally here. I'm so annoyed by Brother Mu's questions."

As he spoke, Fatty gave me a disdainful look. Uncle got up awkwardly, and Yan Yan introduced himself to Uncle.

Uncle nodded. "You guys talk. I'll just eat here. Don't mind me."

When I looked up and met Yan Yan's eyes, I felt a bit guilty. I had promised to rest well, but this incident happened, and the tomb - exploring trip would have to be postponed for some time.

Yan Yan looked at the hand where I was getting an IV drip, then at the light - blue quilt on me. He frowned. Then he stared at my face. I scratched my face embarrassedly. "Well, this was an accident."

"By the way, I have something to ask you. Do you know something?"

I stared at him, not missing any expression on his face. Wait a minute, when did Yan Yan ever show an expression?

Yan Yan shook his head. "I'm also curious. I've consulted experts, but I still haven't got an answer."

He sounded so sincere that I couldn't doubt him. If even Yan Yan didn't know, how could I?

"How did you know I was hospitalized?" I looked at him curiously. The incident at the ancestral house hadn't caused a stir, and only a few people knew about it. Yan Yan looked at Fatty. What else could I say?

Fatty looked innocent. "He's the team leader. It's natural for him to care about his team members."

He really knew how to find a reasonable excuse for himself.

"Oh, it's so lively here." Xu Yang's voice came in. A sunny - looking handsome guy leaned against the door. "Are you guys happy about my sudden visit?"

Needless to say, it was Fatty who told him. "Where's Song Yiran?"

When Fatty saw Xu Yang come in and didn't see Song Yiran for a long time, he looked outside and asked. "Rarely do you guys not come together."
